    Her Boyfriend
    This is a complaint as well as a request for advice from anyone about stopping these phone calls.

    Randy Grant, Collections Supervisor, Partners In Credit Inc. has been making harassing phone calls every week or so to my girlfriend, starting earlier this year.

    Randy Grant, Collections Supervisor, Partners In Credit Inc, Suite 201, 9225 Leslie St, Richmond Hill, ON, L4B 3H6

    Randy Grant's calls are about an old credit card debt from over 10 years ago. However, she (my girlfriend) did make the "mistake" of paying $10.00 to the creditor as recently as 2 years ago, thus keeping the case active.

    She has been a paraplegic using a wheelchair for 10 years and during that time has had no earned income. Just a small monthly amount from ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program), which isn't classified as "earned" income. She isn't expected to have any earned income at any future time, since her medical condition is only gradually getting worse.
    She's on a program giving her access to help for daily living stuff, round the clock.

    Randy Grant has yelled at her, sworn at her, threatened to get her kicked out of her apartment, threatened legal action, and other nasty threatening and abusive things.

    My girlfriend has attempted suicide in the past, and I don't want Partners In Credit Inc. to continue to harrass her, pushing her to the brink.
    It's affecting her physical and emotional health and her sleep, since her chronic pain only permits her to sleep at irregular times.

    The amount owed is a few thousand dollars.
    We don't live together.
    I can't pay it for her because I'm on CPP Disability myself.
    Can't afford to pay a lawyer.
    She's almost house-bound.

    She has repeatedly asked Randy Grant to write rather than phone, but he continues to phone.

    I'm drafting a letter to Randy Grant for her to sign and send by registered mail, explaining why she can't pay anything. It'll also include a request to have all further communication in writing, not by phone.
    She would pay if she could, but on ODSP she barely has enough to pay her subsidized rent, needed utilities, and some food, but can't even afford badly-needed maintenance of her wheelchair. She has no credit cards, no lines of credit, no vehicles or property, and nothing besides what's in her apartment.

    HELP OR ADVICE?
    1.) How to stop Partners In Credit Inc. from phoning her.
    2.) How else to deal with the old debt that we wouldn't even be able to pay the interest on.
    3.) Where would be a more appropriate website to ask for this type of help or advice (or complain)?
    If anyone has any helpful suggestions for us to deal with Randy Grant or Partners In Credit Inc., please comment here or (better) write to me at this throwaway email address: uce@emailaccount.com
    uce (AT) emailaccount (DOT) com
    (Please include the word "Advice" in the Subject, to filter it from the junkmail.)

    Thanks for listening :)

    I hav alredy posted the entire regulations but here above, but here is what you need to do send them a registered letter saying you dispute the debt and the matter should be taken to court. Go to legal aid get a lawyer from their and have them send a letter as outlined below. Last go to your MPP and tell them the story

    The regulations forbid collection agencies from:
    •    contacting you if you send a registered letter to the agency saying that you dispute the debt and suggest the matter be taken to court;
    •    contacting you if you or your lawyer notify the agency by registered mail to communicate only with your lawyer, and you provide the lawyer's name, address and telephone number;
    •    contacting you on Sunday, except between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and on a holiday;
    •    contacting you other than by ordinary mail more than three times in a seven-day period without your consent, once the agency has actually spoken with you;
    •    using threatening, profane, intimidating or coercive language, or using undue, excessive or unreasonable pressure;

    Thanks for replying, "annoyed with those who wont listen".

    Sorry if I annoyed you by not listening to what you already said :)

    Randy Grant of Partners In Credit Inc phoned her again on Monday, August 10th, making threats and being quite rude, which is what prompted me to post here.

    * Randy Grant, Collections Supervisor, Partners In Credit Inc, Suite 201, 9225 Leslie St, Richmond Hill, ON, L4B 3H6
    1-888-730-6333
    1-905-886-0555
    1-905-886-3084
    1-905-886-4271   (& maybe others)

    * As I mentioned, "She's almost house-bound." Suggesting that the matter be taken to court might be a problem for her.

    ** Sounds like it might be a good idea for her to give me financial Power Of Attorney to take care of this matter legally and *promptly*.
    We trust each other 100%, and at her request I'm already handling her bill paying for her, as well as using her bank card to do her shopping. (And I make sure that every cent is accounted for in writing, with receipts and balance sheets.)

    * About "disputing the debt":
    She's not saying that she doesn't owe anything. But the amount seems to have tripled in the past 2 or 3 years. So I guess she is disputing some aspects of the debt (rather than the existence of a debt).
    We haven't yet sent that Registered letter (with Acknowledgement Of Receipt), so we could still include the fact that she disputes the amount, and request full details. We'll also ask for the address of the original debtor, so we can explain the situation to them too. (It's "Royal Bank Visa", but I don't know which city.)

    * Randy Grant, Partners In Credit Inc, has indeed "used threatening, profane, intimidating or coercive language, using undue, excessive or unreasonable pressure". But it'd be hard to prove, since we didn't record the phone calls.

    * Going to Legal Aid and our MPP -- good advice -- I'll have to do that for her.

    Your advice is helpful. Thanks!

    anything new here?

    Just in case anyone is checking in here for new information...or has anything new to post...I had a phone message from Partners in Credit regarding my son.The caller identified himself as Brian Crittendon and said he was in Saskatchewan - phone number 1-877-525-9843. I was surprised when he suggested that he could speak either to me or my son (I don't believe privacy laws in Canada allow that)...AND, I know that my son doesn't owe anyone anything. He did have an outstanding credit card bill that we paid off over two years ago but has not had a credit card since then. These seem to be scam artists and I'm wondering if they somehow get information on people who have had credit problems in the past and they 'pretend' they are a collection agency?

    Hey !

    I've been being contacted by Bob Normanton of Parters in Credit about a debt that is about to fall off of my credit bureau in 7 months. I had a new-born and moved to the states where I couldn't work. Ex was an [***] and wouldn't help after I'd used as much as I'd had to pay my credit card. Long story short...I thot is was weird when he told me I could put it directly into an "Instant Payment account" ...yada yada. I happened to speak to a police officer that same day who was talking about the recent scams that were happening. Suddenly I thot this could be ONE of them! Now I'm thinking yeah...I wanted to clear it up but was afraid it would cause it to be on my bureau LONGER if I paid it...u know? Kind of shooting myself in the foot.

    I got a few voicemails from someone named Sandy who was looking for a woman I've never heard of, and I've had this number for 6 years.  When I tried to explain she interrupted me and cut me off numerous times, accusing me of offending her.  what??? and then hung up on me.  When I called her back I had to leave a voicemail asking her if she would give me the contact info of the bank holding the account she said she was collecting for so I could contact someone who might look into, I dont know, identity fraud.  Why are collectors calling me???

    So, I'm not sure, are you saying this collections agency is fraudulent>  are they calling me trying to get me to pay on a debt I dont have?

    Geoff (jeff) is a real piece of work.  He lives in Aurora/Newmarket area North of Toronto.  I'm tracking him.  Last I saw at the Lesile Street office he drove an Impala.  Thinks he's a cop or something.  They tend to finish around 5pm.  Not sure if I should post his picture or not.  They have unethical practices at this office - borderline criminal!!  KARMA IS A [***] GEOFF.  Sooner than later you'll read this or the FIORE brothers who own the company.

    No matter the circumstances of someones finacial problems it doesn't give anyone the right to call and speak to a person that way.  Everyone is always so tough on the phone. Why don't you come to my door and speak that way.
