They're invading our right to privacy. They've ignored the 'do not call' list. They're even potentially costing people money by wasting cell phone minutes for these unwanted solicitation.

And just when I thought that I got rid of this guy! He has called me several times under a different number 617-245-9601, so watch out for this! I think the number changed because he got caught with his pants down. Too many complaints and all he has to do is change his number. I'm peeved that I can't figure out how to stop this freak

Just got this call, when picked up, there wasn't anything.  It went to my cell phone.  It's bad enough we get these calls to the house phone, but these stupid calls use day time minutes on my cell.

I received a call from 1-917-210-4609 on my cell today and I thought I was on the DO NOT CALL list.  I even started talking to someone else, and the guy stopped talking to wait for me to tell him to continue.  I tried looking the number up, but all I got as an unlisted New York land line number.  I don't think telemarketers should be allowed cell phone lists.

Man these calls violate so many provisions of the DNC (kinda makes you wish the law had some real teeth huh?) anyway I got calls on my 5 lines so I reported them 5 times to the FTC, SAG, my carrier and their SAG.  More research into this company led me to Familytv.com so I lumped them into my complaints as well.  Don't be fooled by the "not a sales" call they are trying to get you interested in a movie and spend money on said flick (which I will never consider seeing now) so ultimately this is a telemarketing call.

This guy John called my childs cell phone.  Thank goodness that my son is street smart enough to not give out information.  Too bad John has access to all these cell numbers.  I know I have both my son and my cell numbers on the do not call list. I did this just so telemarketers could not use up my minutes.

Got a call from a male trying to promote the Velveteen rabbit movie at 8:00pm.  When I asked how he got my number, he said they were calling numbers randomly. Was trying to give me passes if I provided my email address. I don't buy it, someone's selling cell phone numbers.  My service is with Verizon.

They're also posting positive messages on these complaint boards.  Okay folks, people who have an enjoyable phone conversation about a movie in their area do not then decide to post a comment about that positive experience.

Noticed a repeat call a couple days later, didn't pick up.

I don't mind someone calling about a good family movie, but they called at 8:30 pm on my cell phone which is on a do not call list. They are in New York, so it is 11:30 pm there. Since when is that time of call a good thing?

This guy called my cell phone at 8:03 PM and I couldn't get to my phone to answer it soon enough. Within 30 seconds, he called my son's cell number that is totally different from mine and on a different network. He said his name was John and he was calling about the Velvateen Rabbit. How did he get my phone number and my son's phone number when they are from different servicers. Why am I getting a call this late. This is unacceptable behavior. 8:00 pm is family time, so if this is a family movie, why are they calling when it's time to put little kids to bed?

Called my cell phone abt. 8:30 pm; I didn't answer, no message left.  Like some of the other commenters, I am bothered that this company has my cell # on its phone list.

Here is an interesting thought. Seems like most of the calls are Verizon. Could it be Verizon selling the cell phone numbers. It turns out that my son used my cell number as a REFERENCE to get his verizon phone. I'm with T-mobile. If it's verizon selling the cell phone list then we need to boycot Verizon, not the movie company.

i got the same call today all i did is just pick up the call then i heard a computer response then i hanged up.  i dont like telemarekters.

These people called me at 11:20pm at night and woke me up. I had no idea what they were talking about--some sort of deal where I would get almost free tickets or something (or get an in-kind refund). That seems like a very questionable business practice to me.

Company selling films will pay $70,000 over No Call complaints in agreement obtained by Nixon

St. Louis, Mo. — Two companies that market and sell films will pay $70,000 to the state of Missouri and develop a detailed plan to ensure future compliance with the state's No Call law according to a settlement secured today by Attorney General Jay Nixon.

The assurance of voluntary compliance, filed today in St.Louis City Circuit Court, was the result of a lawsuit Nixon filed in March against Feature Films For Families Inc. of Murray, Utah, and the Dove Foundation of Grand Rapids, Mich., alleging the companies conspired in a scheme to evade state No Call laws. Telemarketers from the Dove Foundation claimed its status as a charitable organization provided them with an exemption to the Missouri No Call law. In reality, the Dove Foundation was using that status to solicit sales for Feature Films For Families, a for-profit organization that sells DVDs and videos. The Attorney General's No Call unit recovered almost 300 complaints about the calls.

“Companies such as these that look for new ways to circumvent our No Call law are another illustration of how effective our Missouri law is,” Nixon said. “We always have been, and will continue to be, vigilant in protecting Missouri's consumers from unwanted telemarketers and will swiftly take action when there is a violation of the law.”

According to the agreement, the Dove Foundation and Feature Films For Families must pay $70,000 to the state Merchandising Practices Revolving Fund and obey all merchandising practices and No Call laws in the future. The respondents must also provide the Attorney General's Office with a detailed plan of practices and procedures they will implement in their businesses to ensure compliance with the state No Call law. They have also agreed to subscribe to, and remain current with, the Missouri No Call database.

Any future violation of the agreement by the respondents could result in contempt of court proceedings and civil penalties of up to $2,000 per violation.

This was in 2006, you people are too lazy to call the FTC to complain, It took over 300 calls to get the state of MO involved. You'll never file that many complaints with the FTC so I can go on making money and taking it to the bank.

Received cell phone call from 917 210 4609 at 0822. Caller hung up before I could answer the phone because it was across the room in my jacket pocket. Googled caller number and discovered it is a movie telemarketer. I RESENT THIS INVASION OF PRIVACY BECAUSE I AM ON THE DO NOT CALL REGISTRY. All of my phones are on that registry which obviously does not mean much because I get telemarketer calls almost every day. That being the case, I am now very suspicious of the registry. Why bother with  registration. We may be better off without it.

just got one too and went to put a complaint on donotcall.gov
but apparently they changes the rules to where you have to re-register your number every year to stay on the list... I didn't so they could legally call me and the government won't accept my claim.
Make sure you re-register all your phone numbers!!

REGARDLESS of whether you're on the DNC or not, companies are not supposed to use autodialers that result in you being charged for the call (I got the call on my cellphone).
