Called themselves LV Associates. I'm in Illinois, "Mr. Kevin Johnson" called from an out of state number. Stated they sent the sheriff twice today and tried to serve my husband papers and if we don't call them today, they will go to his work tomorrow.Good luck with that since my husband and I are unemployed so I don't know where they think they are going to serve papers unless it's to unemployment. I checked with the county to see if there is a court case pending against us and there is none. Not sure what this company is pulling. Requested they return my call with the full name and address of their business, and their business license information for the state they practice in. I will be filing a complaint with our state's attorney office for shady and unethical business practices and violating the fair credit and collections act by using intimidation tactics. According to other posts related to this phone number and Mr. Johnson and LV Associates there are many other complaints out there regarding this company.

I also received a message.  Different name of caller.  His name was Mr. Joey Peterson and he gave me a case file number and said documents would be delivered to my home the following day and that they would make three attempts. After that, they would contact me at work.  I am unemployed. He had my address.  We have not received any papers. The phone number that called was blocked but the number I was suppose to call back is: 888-959-9628.  Hmmmmmm.  When I Googled the number it was a mixed response.  Some said these people actually served them.  Others said it was a scam.  I am about as poor as poor can be and own nothing so not sure what they can take if they do serve me but I intend to wait and see.  If anyone else has any updates, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Caller ID'd themself as Patricia from LV Associates. Called for another person and said that this number was provided as a contact number. Appears to be a scam where internet information on name associations is used to track down a debtor and anyone who may be associated by name. Once I attempted to confirm an address as my number was not provided to them, is unlisted, and unpublished they stated they would remove the number. The reason I wanted the address was to confirm association to L.V. Financial Funding collection agengy and report to FTC. Once I stated this they hung up. 17Sep2012

It sounds like thee people are somehow accessing personal info, possibly mail or are hacking facebook accounts  and they are now fishing for vulnerable targets, in most cases the elderly. as soon as the caller determine's they have an easy target thsy will try getting account numbers, passwords Cash or even sex. It sounds like these individuals have been doing thisfor a little whilw and have some experience , if thats the case with them they are only interested in money by way of western union or account transfers. if it a facrbook  thst they are hacking they will also go after any info on friends  of the persons account they hacked and target those people as well(more fishing). It may be a good idea to post a warning stating it is a possability you account has been hacked and they should be careful. just a kind of heads up.

I don't think they have to hack Facebook, people put a lot of information on it including list of friends and relatives who also have their contact information on there.   All they have to do is convince one person to friend them and they can get even more info.  Also places like Intellius and Lexis Nexis keep a lot of information on people and sell it to anyone.

    call back 888-959-9627
direct call to my employer (in MA) from "Mark Miller of Investigative Support Staff with the firm" (sounds like) "LV and Associates" saying that there is "a complaint filed against" me, that they "need to confirm place of employment" and that i need "to call pre-legal services to discuss possible pending actions being filed on this complaint".
Please advise if this call is legal in MA to my employer and/or to me at my place of employment.

I had the same call. Mark Miller from Investigative support calling for my head of maintenance, an employee saying there was a complaint filed against him, and he needed to call the # with the case file information. I tried inquiring what the complaint was and where it was made, and he said it was a sealed case and it was confidential. Sounded very fishy to me so I asked details on what company this was and the name. He said LV and Associates. I was not convinced this was legit, so I googled it. Creepy!

I picked up a call to my home phone today and it was a voice message from Nina Ross. She was calling for an ex-roommate who moved out five years ago. She said she is calling from American Document Server Verification Unit. She said they were going to attempt to deliver documents to my address between 8 A.M. and 5 P.M. Monday-Friday, and after three attempts, would try place of employment. She said they were retained by LV (could not understand the rest of her mumble) and to call 888-959-9627 to reschedule, if necessary. I called that number and, big surprise, got another voice message. I left a message telling them that the person they were looking for moved out in 2008 and that if anyone shows up at my address with documents for that person, I will be sure to call the police. When I hung up I noticed that I had a voice message from earlier today.  It was the same voice message from Nina Ross. So I called 888-959-9627 again and told them to remove my phone number and address from their records. If they call again, I will report them to the FTC and the FCC. If they show up at my door I will call the police.

They said they were from Investigative Support Staff . I asked them who the papers were from & they said LV Associates. He started to say Larry Victor, but said LV. Said he had to deliver by Wens between 8am to 1pm or if not available then to contact this no# which is the same as everyone on here 888-959-9627. & a case NO# to call them before Wens. Told me I had 3 days to call. This is all to weird. I so hate spammers & how dumb do they think I am. Just look things up I found a lot on this LV Associates.

if any New Yorkers are being called by them over a Payday loan, DO NOT PAY THEM - payday loans are illegal here, as they are in 13 different states.  They are NOT a lawfirm, CANNOT sue you, so any claims that a "process server" is coming or you are being "served" are false statements intended to scare you into paying.  check if they are registered to do business in your state. many states have strict licensing and bonding requirements that must be met before they do business in your state. You CANNOT be arrested for failure to pay a debt in ANY state, false statement.  Taking out a payday loan is NOT "writing a bad check" so no criminal laws apply.   Do not let them harass you or threaten you into paying a debt. request written validation of debt be sent to you via US Mail, as the federal law requires they do.

I got a call from a unkown caller asking for me.  When I said yes they confirmed my address and said they are trying to serve me papers and needed to know if I would be home the following day to sign for them.  He said he was from LV associates as in Larry Victor.  He continues to say the carrier delivering the papers are out of Omaha Nebraska and thats why they needed to know when I would be home.  He gave me a number to call 855 826 7492 and a case file number to find out more information and to set up a specific time for the papers to be delivered.  I will not call that number because I am sure this is a scam....!!!
