Dave is right.  Do not respond, and do not "remove" your number.  When I asked this Asian-sounding lady how she got my number (and name!), she replied that she got it from my pharmacy where I get my diabetic supplies, or from my doctor...at which point I informed her that she needed to provide her employer's name and contact info, as this was a totally bogus call.  Any such information would NEVER be provided by the pharmacy or my doctor -- it would be a violation of HIPAA -- and oh, by the way, I am not diabetic.  No one in the family is, either.  The contact # she provided for the company (International Diabetes Assoc - 1-877-544-9121) is NOT IN SERVICE.

Received a phone call from a diabetic medical company.  I did not understand everything he said but he wanted to know how many diabetics we had in our household.

I had a missed message on my phone, so I did not see it until 10 p.m. so I decided to call the number and ask what this 24-7 Any Time was.  A woman answered and I asked had she tried to reach me and she said No, I told her I was showing I had a missed call from this number.  She kept saying she did not call, I asked if this was a business and she said no this is my cell phone number.  She said she had been getting other calls saying they had received a call from this same 954-745-0050 number.  She said I go on my computer and it doesn't show a call had been made to the number of the person calling.  I told her that seems odd & she argreed and said she didn't know how this was happening.

Please make it stop-- a do not call list does not help at all.

Received several call  the past 3 days from National Diabetes Ass. Each Call  asked for a different person by name. I informed them there was noone by that name here, and asked to have my name removed from there call  list.  The call  came from 1-954-0050 whenI discovered who was calling I asked for the number of there headquarters and was given 1-877-544-9121.  I think it's strange i keep getting call at my home  for parsons of different names.  I want it  stoped.

Called while I was out, didn't leave a message.  If the above reports are correct, there is no one here who is diabetic so there's no reason they should be calling here.  Caller ID has a bunch of numbers instead of company name: v05042106430364
I no longer even answer calls if the caller ID does not identify them; if it is an important enough call, they will call me back.  I have also blocked calls (courtesy of Comcast Digital Voice features) who have their Caller ID blocked.

the word oriental is used to describe things like rugs, not people. it was an asian lady. but why is it necessary to say anything except lady?

5-5-2011 @ 1:07 PM, Lady with heavy foreign accent called from 954-745-0050.  Caller ID shows name as unavailable.  Previous call from this number was @ 8:30 PM several days ago.  Stupid [***] can't even say my last name properly, which is my tip off that it's a scammer calling.  This phone number operates out of Ft. Lauderdale or Hollywood, Florida.  When she pronounced my name improperly, I just told her that nobody by that name lives here and then hung up.  Like several others have mentioned, I'm on the Federal and State NO CALL LISTS, but scammers such as this don't pay any attention to those lists.  And they are NOT the National Diabetes Assoc.  I wish they'd put a special button on the phones so that when you get these types of calls, you could press the special button and blow the SOB's up!

I received a call but did not answer.  Like others if I don't know  the number then I don't pick it up.  I am also on the do not call list but still get calls like this.  I googled the number and found out it is coming from Florida.  It named a locksmith company.  I followed the  advice of others and blocked the number. If you have comcast in Maryland you dial *60 and follow the prompt.  I am allowed to block 12 numbers.
I am also going to try use #7 also when someone tries to call.  The do not call list does not seem to be working!

Same thing just happened. Just got a home phone line yesterday, no one but the phone company knows my number, and already this BS! I'm Kentucky Rifleman...great idea!!!

What you let IRRITATE you,  was INFORMATIVE to others.

Sometimes the glass is Half-Full and other times it is Half-Empty.  That fine point often escapes many myopic individuals and certainly the Speech Police!  When the Doctor hands me a Full glass of barium sulfate to drink, I am encouraged when it is Half-Empty.

With my Panasonic phone system I can block up to 20 calls.  We NEVER answer calls when the Caller ID (and our system has talking caller ID, so we don't even have to get up!) says "unavailable"

Never, NEVER, speak with anyone you do not know.
These scam phone calls by bottom feeders and low life types are about out of control in this country.

If you don't have caller ID, get one, and only pick up for folks you know.
The national no call list only works for honest business concerns,not CROOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best I can say, do not answer any numbers you do not know. Some how they had my first name. I just kept shouting in their ears "HELLO" and than hung up. So they do not know if its was an answering machine or a real person. Another trick to try is ask them what is the current time. From this you can deduce what part of the country or world the calls are coming from (if they tell you). If there is a long pause, they are doing the math.

hi guys ! you know what ? this is not a scam..and we are actually located in san diego california which we called downtown california..we help diabetic people better manage their diabetes..and we have our pharmacy located in hawaii..and we are a non profit organization..and we are not soliciting or asking for any donations..im sorry if this bothered so much of your time..if you happen to see this number and you are not diabetic then do not answer it..so it wont take our time also..but thank you so much for all your questions and concerns..im bothered but we do appreciate it..hope this will enlighten your thoughts..
