- BillWYou will find this phone number purporting to be from "American Voice" listed hundreds of times not only in 800notes.com but also whocallsme.com and other related sites.
On each of these sites are dozens of BOGUS messages claiming that this is a LEGIT reminder call about appointments with Social Security. Those messages are from the SCAMMERS, people. CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER ARE SCAMS - NO IFS, ANDS OR BUTS.
Don't take my word for it - call Social Security yourself! SS will tell you, THEY DO NOT USE CONTRACTORS TO NOTIFY PEOPLE OF APPOINTMENTS. IF THEY NEED TO DO THAT, THE LOCAL SS OFFICE WILL CALL YOU!
Don't take my word for it - call AT&T yourself! Verify that 972-497-1400 is a disconnected number, whose CallerID is being spoofed by these crooks.
Don't take my word for it - call American Voicemail yourself! The number is here: http://www.americanvoicemail.com/index.html
I fully expect that this message will be followed up by "Jane" or other of these scammers claiming it is a lie and that the number really is legitimate - it is NOT LEGIT - IT IS A SCAM. ALL THOSE PEOPLE CLAIMING THEY HAD AN APPOINTMENT AND THIS WAS NOTIFICATION ARE ALL LYING THROUGH THEIR TEETH.- Caller: American Voice *
- jb4t5It's legit, my wife had twins and had a phone interview for SSI. It was a call to confirm.
- Caller: U.S. GOVERNMENT AGENCY (Social Security)

- gmwalti am not certain if 972.497.1400 is a scam or not but it appears to be...i actually received a call from this number first...they asked for someone other than me - my first red flag. the next morning i received another call from a different, local number 704.563.1253. i tried calling it so i could tell the SS Admin that someone gave them a wrong number (big surprise)...however, i ended up being surprised as i got a recording that 704.563.1253 was an invalid number. (no i did not call the wrong number; i chose if from my list of missed calls and told my cell to call it....)
anyway, this is a lot of coincidences...i definitely would NOT give these people any info over the phone if i were any of you...
good luck.- Caller: said the Social Security Administration
- PaulIt was not a scam it was SSI calling me about a prescription rider I might need
- Caller: SSI
- Rick AllenI called my local ss office to confirm my suspicions as i used to work for a medicare contractor. Those organizations DO NOT ask for you to leave you personal information in a voice message or in any fashion other than with a legitimate representative live in real time. Anyone, no matter what your situation should report this to your local office. Don't give them your personal information.
- SteveHello, Strangely enough I have a SS telephone interview tomorrow. I missed this call today and tried to call back and it says call could not be completed. I wonder...
If this was a scam - howd they know my number? How did they know I had a appt tmw? I wonder. - confusedIt might be a scam. I did not apply anything. I called local office of "disability adjudication & review" to verify. I do not have any "pending" application.

- Shari replies to Ms. M.| 123 repliesI do not have an appointment with SS. It has to be a scam. They left no message. I think you are all silly.
- shari replies to Cat| 5 repliesI agree with you. I just got a call also. I have no appointment and like you I have finished my business. I think everyone that has had business with SS this last year is getting these calls. Somehow the scammers have got this info and calling everyone. My agent at SS said I did not need to talk with them again until next year.
- CONNIEThey did not leave a msg. I do have an appt with SS Monday.
- MichelleI received a call from 972-497-1400. It is a scam. They left a chopped off recording of a message from the Socila Security message line. I called the regular Social Security number and they said that Social security would never call and ask questions. Thi sis a scam to get you to call on your cell phone, tell the Social security rep your SSI numbers and address, then record the conversation on your cell phone which is an unsecured line.
This is a total scam.- Caller: 972-497-1400
- Matt G.WOW!!!!!! A bunch of you guys are EXTREMELY paranoid or are part of the geriatric community but this is a LEGIT phone number from the social security office. My fiance was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago where a caseworker set her up with a phone interview with social security. She has reminded me and reminded me of the appointment she has tom. I checked the number b/c I was unaware they would call to remind me of the appointment. Unless the hospital, nurse, caseworker and lol apparently the government and god himself are in on your so-called scam this is a number from the social security office to remind you of an appointment of some kind with them. Seriously guys taking precaution is one thing but some of you are making yourself and your info much more important than it is. I dont think anyone is trying to steal your mobile home or your 520 credit score

- Chicki got a call from this office, it was a recording stating that i had a phone appointment the next day. It never asked me for any personal info and it didn't sound disturbung at all. I did apply for SS, so i was expecting either a call or e-mail from them

- MichaelNot a scam. This was indeed the SSA with a reminder call of an appointment I have next week. All you [***] who insist this number is a scam number need to keep in mind that many people give incorrect information to the SSA and the call was probably meant for someone else.
- Caller: Social Security Administration
- Call type: Event reminder
- jim replies to SteelMillBabyNot a scam. While you should not give your SS over the phone, you should also not ignore calls legitimate calls from SS.
This call reminded me about a SS form I was sent and needed to complete. They referred me to the legitimate SS site. They did not request my SS number.
This number is a legitimate SS telephone information call. - janI do receive ss and got a call from this #. I tried calling it back, and recording said disconnected. I then called ss directly and they saw no record nor reason that ss would be calling me and to be careful, that it could be a scam. To all, proceed with caution and do not give out any info.
- Caller: ss/possible scam
