- Miss Edie replies to Donna| 1 replyJust deal with your local office and follow their lead. These scammers just got lucky in that you actually had dealings with Soc Sec. Don't respond to this number! It is not legit!
- JerryI received a call as well but mine is legit. I have a phone interview scheduled with the SSA tomorrow and the message was simply a reminder. No big!!

- RJSYup. Social Security office confirming my appointment. If someone gives SS the wrong number, they might call you in error, but my call from this number was legit.

- JOEi just got a call from this number did not answer it but did call the number back and it said call can not be completed as dialed
- WDRI just received a phone call from these people on my answering machine. It was partly cutoff but some automated messages on my machine are. It said I had an appointment with Social Security tomorrow at 2:30pm. I received no notice in the mail to that regard and had no knowledge of any such appointment. I thought I might have an appointment though as right now I'm in in the process of appealing them discontinuing my benefits but had not received a letter or anything stating such. So I called the national office and the local office and I have no meetings scheduled. I think this is a SCAM.

****These calls are NOT a Scam!*****
This is a Legit call, although you may be getting it in error if someone is using a bogus phone number or a mistake was made in data entry.
The agency called: American Voice is contracted with the Social Security Administration. They may be calling to verify an upcoming Office or Phone appointment that someone in your household has scheduled. My son is on Disability and they called Today, Friday to confirm a Phone appointment for Monday.

- MoniqueI also got a call from that number. The ID caller was American Voice and it was asking for donations to the Navajo Nation elder fund. I did say that I do not donate over the phone and the woman (Angela) said she would send a letter but a few minutes later she did ask for a credit card number which I refuse to give over the phone. She insisted the donation must be made "next month". I'm waiting for the letter.

- amk2932I just got a missed call and it left a message...it was SS reminding me of my appointment.

- Kyle replies to CW| 3 repliesIt's a SCAM!!!! B careful guys! I had no apt set up so it was very weird to have a message on my phone from this 972 number telling me to call another number for social security to verify an apt over the phone. I repeat I never called SS office for an apt. Phising scam for sure
- Phishing Fraud AlertCalled the Social Security office. They informed me they have had an astronomical number of complaints about this number. It's a phishing scam.
Note the huge number of fake posts from shills claiming the number is "real" - a sure sign of a fraud.- Caller: Phishing Fraud
- KASEY| 2 repliesThis is a legitimate number from the Social Security Office in Fort Worth, Texas. My husband has a hearing with a judge on Wednesday, and the message I just received did not ask for any socials or vital information. It clearly stated the hearing date and time and asked that we arrive 30 minutes early. Then it asks to push 1 to confirm. It is not a scam!!!
- Michelle| 1 replyIt is definitely the SS department. I handle all my parents affairs. Those of you who think it's a scam you probably shouldn't be in the system anywho. I am assuming you were smart enough to cheat the system but not bright enough to realize that is really is the SS administration. And, the SS administration does not typically require you to verify your social security number when they call.

- Michelle replies to KASEY| 1 replyThis thread has confirmed that most people in this country that are "in" the system are idiots. Darwin's theory is apparently not working efficiently enough.
I concur with you, it's a valid number for the SSA. - Michelle replies to Donna| 1 replyHi, I handle all my parents affairs. They were probably calling you to inform you that you should have received a letter in the mail regarding a new program with medicine. If you did not receive a letter then you should contact your local office and inquire about the new program.
If you are about to approach age 65, they start the conversion process early. If you are a Medicaid recipient and are complete incapacitated due to your disability things might not change for you and you should contact your local case worker (varies state to state). As you may not need to convert to Medicare.
I hope this helps relieve some of your concerns. But this is a valid number and have received many reminders and updates on my mothers case as the past couple years have gone by.
Be well. - Michelle replies to Miss EdieI am sorry to inform you that this number is legitimate. I've been receiving updates and follow-ups on appointments for the past two years now for my mother, as I handle her affairs since she is now paralyzed.
Do not throw panic where panic is not due. - dnI received a call from this number and the message was from SS verifying my appointment tomorrow and saying to call 800-772-1213 if I needed to cancel or change the time. I DO have an appointment as a divorced spouse survivor, so I believe the call was ligitimate.

- FadedNot sure what some of these people are talking about. I just got a call from this number. I didn't know who it was so I just let it go to voicemail. The voicemail was an automated message reminding me that I had a hearing at 9:15am, and to be a half hour early. And to follow directions on the map sent to me to get there.
I Do have an apointment at 9:15, I Do have a map that was sent to me, there were no questions asked. As I said, just an automated message reminding me I had an apointment.- Caller: SSI
