This number is the Social Security office calling to remind me of an appointment. This is not a scam, if someone used your number as a contact number they will also call

I get these calls all the time from a few different numbers,and they are always a message in spanish.I don't even speak spanish,and whenever SS calls me it is always a local number from the local office.

This is legitimately the Social Security Depts phone number, I too have an appt scheduled with them and received the reminder call. But to all those that say this is a scam please keep in mind that there are ways to have any phone number you choose come up on caller ID so it is entirely possible that people are using the number for scamming.

Just received a call from this # and it is indeed the SS admin reminding me of my appt on Wednesday. It was a recording.

It IS the Social Security Administration. A message regarding my appointment. NOT A SCAM. Official US Government Business. Anyone suggesting that this is a scam is either uninformed or stirring an ant bed for fun at your expense

Social Security Administration Bot reminding you of an appointment. If you receive a call and don't have an appointment scheduled it may be someone trying to file using your info. You should report it to SSI.
People telling you it's a scam are uninformed or pulling a nasty joke on you to get you rattled.

You may rationalize all you want.  This is a SCAM.  NEVER give your social security number over the phone.

I received a message today to remind me of my phone appt. tomorrow.  It is a follow up to a letter I received a week ago with the time of the phone meeting.  No scam.  This has to do with child support from my ex as he has become disabled.  I talked to him before I ever received the letter from SS.  Again, this is not a scam in my case....

Just got a call from this scam.  I have no appointment and am decades away from receiving Social Security.

They are robo-calling thousands of numbers and what is sad is that some recipients actually have Social Security appointments.  They think that their coincidental circumstances make this a legitimate reminder service.

Sorry, but these calls are phishing for for Social Security Numbers and DOBs.  Never give out this information to an unknown caller.

Contrary to what some have been saying here, while I was looking up this number here, they left me a message!  It was indeed the Social Security Administration doing a follow-up to the letter that they recently sent me telling me that I now qualified for Medicare Part B.  THIS NUMBER IS NOT A SCAM OR A SOLICITOR!

If any US agency were calling regarding federal business ( i.e. SSD  or a federal SSI audit ), it is more likely said correspondence ( written or verbal ) would originate from either an office local to your state or the primary headquarters in DC.  It most certainly would not come from Texas if the recepient were not listed as resident in that state.
 As for all these shill posters claiming unequivocally that it is legitimate business, most of you must be working for the scammers.  I say this because the vehemence of most of your posts is evidence of someone desperate to keep the scam from falling apart.  This is typical behavior of some scamming types, according to truth verification experts.
 If you need proof of what I say, do a search for the alleged agency and find out from their site where they have primary offices and how they handle such issues.  As for the shillers and scammers, shame on you!  And just so you criminals know, we have YOUR number ( and you will be hearing from us shortly ).

Well, the post Im replying to PROVES its a scam!  If it was SSA, why would it also show up as a number having to do with some other government agency.  Also, I checked and according to numbercop.com this is a bogus # that among things sometimes shows up on caller ID as having to do with a real estate office.  And ALL the number lookup sites list its origination as "Amerian Voice".  Im pretty sure the US government isnt farming out their legitimate business to be handled by some lame third party.
And all you people shilling that the number is real, you're either working for this company like Anonymous said or you not to bright thinking its legit just cause you happen to have an appt or they didnt happen to ask for any info.  Its people who have such a willingness to believe this crap that keep the scammers doing what they do. It's a scam. Period. I do this day in and day out. Take reports for attempted scams and frauds.
One of our citizens just called me about this number. As with most, he was a senior.

I just had call left message, was about prescription coverage that they sent letter on last week and was just a follow up recorded message. It did the 1-800-772-1213 number to call if question or go online to www.socialsecurity.gov site if wanted to do forms through there if wanted the coverage.I just got on Disabilty so do get a lot of info in mail on emails from people trying to sell supplemental insurance.. I say Legit. I go through my local office with questions I have though as know the person want to talk with.

It really is from the social security office - a reminder of appointment tomorrow.  You need to get your facts straight!

I got the same call Friday (good Friday) and everywhere was closed.. I called the Social Security Board and they verified my hearing isn't till June and have no clue of the call nor do they know of this number...
