I have been getting calls from this number for a MONTH, and have gotten calls in the past from a variety of numbers that have been 'selling' "GE SECURITY SYSTEMS" or claiming we've "won" one, when we NEVER applied for any such thing.

I suspect that the numbers they call from are all SPOOFED; that is, through computer technology they make it LOOK like they are calling from various U.S. numbers when in fact, I believe THEY ARE CALLING FROM OVERSEAS, probably INDIA or PAKISTAN or some such god-forsaken hellhole.

(1) There is probably some U.S. OWNED corporation(s) that are behind this, helping to PROGRAM our phone numbers into the robo-dial computers and possibly even supplying PERSONAL INFORMATION about us. I suspect the BANKS/CREDIT CARD COMPANIES are behind this.

People, CALL or WRITE you FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS and DEMAND that they STOP SELLING your PERSONAL INFO.  FILL OUT the PRIVACY FORMS and INSIST that THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF PRIVACY be maintained on ALL your accounts and DEALINGS with them - on threat of taking your business ELSEWHERE.

(2)  WRITE your Congresspeople and INSIST they TAKE ACTION on this, INCLUDING ALL THE REPUBLICANS that are ELIMINATING ALL THE RULES that PROTECT the "Little People" like YOU and me - that are allowing the MEGA-CORPORATIONS to GET AWAY with this.

(3) REGISTER with the DO NOT CALL LIST (www.donotcall.gov) and FILE A COMPLAINT about EACH and EVERY phone number/scammer after EACH AND EVERY CALL.

(4) Start Advocating that we BOMB the foreign countries where these call centers are set up!!!  The earth is overpopulated with this SCUM anyways!

tried to call number back but instantly disconnects you. wont even do first ring to number and ends call.

Had no idea what his first few sentences were but then the dreaded question was asked.  "Do you have smoke alarms?' Hung up then.  Caller ID said it was International

Got a call from this number yesterday evening. There was music playing then silence and a click. I probably get other calls from this number; I'm unsure because I use *69 to find out numbers and I don't use it often since it costs money.

My husband and I got a cll from the same people! They called March 23,2011. First, they called at 8:03pm. Well we screen our calls to make sure we don't get scammers. We didn't recognize the number and they didn't leave a message on our answer machine. Then they tryed again at 8:31pm and then again at 8:32pm!!! We still didn't answer and now that I read these posts, I blocked their number stored in our phone.

It's a group effort by VMS Alarms, Monitronics & GE Security.  They call first with a supposed safety survey to make sure you own your home and if you do, they tell you you'll get a call back if your selected for the free GE system.  

They call back about a week later to congratulate you on being chosen and there's no "catch" .....except you must agree to pay the monthly monitoring fees.  

The survey is pretext to a solicitation - which is illegal if your #'s are on the National Do Not Call list.  

I urge everyone to take 2 minutes to file an online complaint specifically naming Monitronics, VMS Alarms and GE Security.

If the feds get enough complaints, they will cite these companies - who are counting on the fact that most people won't take the time to file a complaint.

One more thing....they don't "get" your number from anywhere in particular....they are sequentially using an auto dialer to dial numbers in random area codes where they have dealers located.

I got numerous calls from this company. caller ID says TSS. I have unlisted number. Called phone company and they had me call federal trade commission. They are investigating it. They told me to tell people to call them and report these calls. Federal Trade commision number is 877-382-4357

That's how these scammers get their way with folk by being "very nice', it's called "social engineering".
You should NEVER give out personal information to a stranger who calls you on the phone.

I think they're in India or Pakistan. Don't expect our gov't to be of any help.

Just got a call on my Magic Jack number. How in the world did they get my magic jack number..never left a message.

after answering the call I could here it was a call center in the background. First thing the man said is "Thank you sir, may I have your phone number?" I said no, you called me and hung up.

are you sure?  because my family never "got" these calls until we pissed off a bill collector who was calling our home in error & wouldn't stop when we kindly asked him to do so.

now we are on several of these peoples' "lists" do not call list be darned.

I just received this call earlier. Did you know that if you are on the national do not call registry (applies to all nation wide and out of country telemarketers) and they call you, you have the right to remind them that you are on the do not call list and that they're company/workplace is fined $1600 and up per call to people on the list. Most employees that are telemarketers and some scammers do not know about the fines.

This number called my cell at 2:40 a.m.  I want it STOPPED.  Is there anything we can do?  The only thing I know to do is to go online and block it with my carrier.

This number appeared from Wilmington, Mass, and left no message on my ans mach. Called at 8:20PM! I never pick up if I don't know who it is.

I did not take the call but dialed the number back and got a recorded message saying:  Thank you for calling back, if you do not wish to receive future calls about our special promotions, and wish to be put on our "Do Not Call List", press 1.  So I pressed one, and the recording says "Thank You"  
I guess we'll see.

I recently bought the Panasonic KX-TGA phone with the Call Blocking feature and it is AWESOME.  Any number you want to block can be done with 4 button presses.  Very nice.
