Possible phony wellcare scam. The phone number to call back did not match the number I had for the co

I receive these identical calls several times a month. Here is the transcription of their recorded voice mail.

“Hello, this is well care calling for Robert Brown. We have some important information about your prescription. Please return our call at 1- 8 7 7- 6 1 2- 8 3 3 2 TTY users should call 7 1 1. We are available Monday through Sunday 8 AM to 8 PM Eastern time again the number is 1- 8 7 7- 6 1 2- 8 3 3 2 TTY users should call 7 1 1 thank you and have a good day. Goodbye. …”

Received call from a landline in MA (978) 622-0589 advising me to call the toll free number (877) 612-8222.  After checking, found the landline to be a scam on WellCare services.  Called WellCare and they have no record of the toll free number as one of theirs.  Blocked both numbers.  It is a total scam.

Multiple reports of scam calls from 978-622-0589 from Billerica, MA purporting to be from Wellcare.  This is a PHISHING SCAM targeting vulnerable seniors.  These scammers are calling you by name and spoofing Wellcare to get information out of you for fraud and ID theft purposes!!  Those who return the call are asked to provide birth date, phone number, and Wellcare ID# “for verification purposes.”  The scammers also try to get you to say “yes.”  Never, ever respond “yes” to an unknown caller!!  The Robo voice message left on your phone says: “Hello. This is Wellcare calling for (your name).  We have some important information about your prescription. Please return our call at 1-877-612-8332. TTY users should call 711. We are available Sunday through Monday 8:00 am t0 8:00 pm Eastern Time.” Wellcare would never call you.  And if there’s a legitimate problem with your prescription, your pharmacist will tell you. Again, DO NOT ANSWER OR RESPOND. BLOCK THIS CALLER.  THIS IS A SCAM TARGETING SENIORS.

Received a voicemail that identified they were calling from WellCare and stated I needed to call them about a subscription issue.  I did not call the number back, and called WellCare instead.  There was no problem with anything.  Reasonably certain it is indeed a scam.

Got a robo call from 978-622-0589.  The callID showed WellCare my Plan D insurance for my prescription refill. Got my YES answer to confirm my name and birthday.  Not sure if this is a scam.

Same experience.  Wellcare.  I ended call after saying yes to my name.  Called number back and recording knew who I was and said they were Wellcare.   I ended call.  Feel sure this is a scam.  They’re getting too good with the fake.

So much spoofing going on these days but might be a good idea to call Wellcare (assuming that  is your healthcare provider) using your member card number and find out if they are trying to reach you.

This is a legitimate number for Wellcare.  In my case they were calling because some of my prescriptions were due for refill.  They knew them asked me about specific ones I am taking.  They seem sketchy with the first thing being them requiring you to say yes, but it is real.

They call at least 4 times a day. Claims they are Wellcare and have information about my prescription. I don't answer the call. How do they manage to leave voicemails if you've blocked the number?

Just like any other time someone calls and you don't answer the phone.

Same call, same number, same request for information, and I refused to say "yes" to anything it asked.

I received the same call with the same return number. I just blocked it.

Caller ID said Wellcare. Didn't answer the call. Immediately googled the ph. number.
Didn't get the message yet! I'm putting the number in my contacts as "Wellcare Scam"

Hubby just got a call on home phone 6/13/2024 @12:48 PM which said Wellcare on caller ID.  It was a robocall that asked for his name and that the call was about a prescription.  It asked questions and he would not say yes to a computer.  He hung up when it started to give out a call back number.  I see all the complaints on here about being a scam….

Gotten numerous calls asking if you are so and so. Wants you to answer yes. Google says this number is a scam call. We do not pick up phone now.
