- 8LayneEThis phone number does belong to Duke Energy. I called Duke Energy using the phone number on their website. She said that I had been called today to let me know I have a credit on my account.
- Caller: Duke Energy
- countrygirlDuke Energy trying to let me know my equal payment would be changing.

- RICO replies to brandon| 1 replyIt's Duke I am 100% sure it's a 3rd party collection program
- RICO replies to mikeIt a 3rd party collect company hired by Duke I am 100% sure
- T in NCI got a call from them. I have budget billing on my power account and just finished a yearly cycle. The call was to inform me of a change to the amount due monthly for the next 11 months. My son answered or I never would have known why they called. So if you have budget billing, this is a possibility.

- RonIt is Duke Energy. Didn't answer the first call, saw it may be Duke by visiting this page. Checked my Duke account online and saw my "Equal Payment Plan" went down.
So I took the chance and answered it this time. Yes it was an automatic voice from Duke Energy telling me my EPP went down before my next pymnt was due so I didn't over pay - too bad I already paid it, it went down by a whole case of beer.....
It could however be the same number used to collect past due bills. In that case, PAY YOUR BILLS and they will not call you. Your last bill will show a past due balance, then they will send a reminder in snail mail, then maybe contact you via phone.- Caller: Duke Energy
- Call type: Event reminder
- SarahThis is Duke Energy, I called Duke directly using the number on their website. I really did think it was a scam as I know my bill isn't late. They wanted to tell me that my energy savings amount was going to change. I told them they really need to stop with the continuous calls and voicemails as it was excessive. The apparently use this number for numerous different reasons to contact customers, not necessarily bc bills are late.

- Laurie3 calls from them in less than an hour. One message left "if we do not reach you by phone, we will send you a letter"
Then SEND the letter and stop calling- Caller: Duke energy
- D SINGLEYes it's Duke Power that your bill will be in disconnect.

- Babs NC replies to jenniferIt is definitely a call from Duke Energy about your statement, past due balance, or something else. I called the number back and it verified it was them, and gave m 1-800-777-9898 to call & discuss my bill. We always have them draft our bill from checking account but they wanted permission to draft $13.00 more a month because our average useage went up. If I had not answered, our bill would not have been paid by draft this month.
- Babs NC replies to DivineIt really is Duke Energy. Best not to ignore them. If you don't answer, the "automated" call does not leave a message. You should call them at 1-800-777-9898 and have them pull up your account. They can tell you why you were called. They called me today & I didn't pick on my cell phone becuz I thought it was a Robo-caller/Spam call. But I called the number back & it was legitimate. Something had gone wrong with our last draft and our bill was past due.
- Babs NC replies to Elvis| 1 replyIf your power gets cut off, you won't think their calls were excessive. None of us could do without our electricity. Just saying...!
- Babs NC replies to RICONo, Rico. It is not a "3rd party collection program". It is an automated caller which tells people to contact Duke Energy at 1-800-777-9898 to discuss your account. They do not pay any other company to follow-up with their customers regarding an issue. They handled the issues themselves. I also thought it was a spam call, but it was really Duke Energy.
- JAThis call is from Duke Energy but, based on the other postings here, the reason for the call varies by person. I have the EPP and have actually overpaid per my last bill. Duke actually owes me about $200, and it is presently the end of the annual cycle. I got the voice message today saying they would send a letter so I presume it is to tell me that my EPP amount will be going down and possibly advising of a refund. I just checked my account online. There is indeed a large credit balance so I certainly do not owe money, and no one would be advising me of disconnection. Some people, however, may be contacted by this line about past due balances--not I, though.

- GThis isn't Duke Energy, at least not in my case. I got a text telling me my service was going to be disconnected if I didn't pay an overdue bill. I checked my account & was paid up; plus I saw the "Fraud Warning" on Duke's own site. I deleted the text & thought nothing of it. Just so you know, I don't have EPP.
Then 4 hours later I got a phone call from this # telling me my power was going to be disconnected if I didn't pay immediately. I called Duke to report the fraud (like their website says) Latoya, my friendly customer service rep, hung up on me. So much for the call being "recorded for my satisfaction."- Caller: Scammer-Duke?
- Fred J ApelCalls but will not leave message.

- geneNo message. Just one ring
- JosephScammers posing as Duke Energy. Refer to the Duke Energy website and it will explain it. The idiots who posted earlier saying it's real are either scammers or deserve to be scammed. It's the ignorant dupes in the world that allow these scams to be successful, and if you are that stupid you deserve it.

- patroy| 1 replyIt's Duke but, they called me about a CREDIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I let them know that receiving a call and then having to trace down who it is and why they are calling when I don't owe anything is RIDICULOUS.
