I am receiving phone calls that my computer has malware.

Scam called ( sounded like she is from India ). Stating my computer is sending out alerts. I told her the only alert I am sending is to the Attorney Generals office  and  I hung up the phone.  Michigan number it is a scam.  Stated she was with Microsoft Windows ( should have told her I was retired law enforcement )...

Call came in at 946 PM tonight.  I didn't answer and there was no message left.  Who the hell are these people to be calling so late at night.  I'll have to get creative to have fun with these jerks when they call again.

Got a call at 10:30PM. Caller asked to speak to my wife. When I asked who he was he hung up. Since I have an Apple computer it was clearly a scam.

Got a call from this number at 7:00 A.M. Male Indian accent. Same story as above. He said he was from windows tech department. Asked him what city and state he was in. He said London UK. I asked how did you get my number. He told me he had my  license to windows and my address, asked him what my address was. He gave a total different city in the state I live. I did not say anything. I asked him for his phone number and he said it is on your phone can you see it. I said no I want the number I can call you back on he kept saying it is on your phone. I said no no no you give me your phone number. He hung up.  Next time I will say I do not have a computer. Called to report it to police, nothing they can do unless they have name and phone number and more information. Oh well! FBI know and Police know but nothing they can do!  Scheme

Says my computer is sending out messages to Microsoft.  She could not answer my questions so she told me to get lost and hung up on me.  She wanted information about my computer.

Got the call from this #  "Unknown Name" on ID, didn't bother answering. Don't do Long distance calling and if it is not showing someone I know......nada

Too bad someone couldn't take all these complaints and electonically send them to the FCC. Wonder if they would get the hint. NSA where are you?

The attorney general's office is a good place to start.  The Federal Trade Commission is also a good place, especially if it is interstate and you can fill out the form online.

989 is upstate Michigan. How did you find out it was Iran?

SCAM ALERT~!   This scam has been going around for years.  Once, I told the scammer my husband was a computer engineer, but that did not deter him.

SCAM:  They tell you you have a virus and that they will fix it.  You download malware.  When it locks up your computer, these scammers charge x hundreds of dollars to fix it.  The fix includes keeping track of every keystroke you make like username and PASSWORDS to all your ownline business like credit cards and banking.

If you got the number, this is worth reporting online to the Federal Trade Commission.  (one might think FCC, but not correct).

NOTE EVERYONE:  The computer virus scam they talk about is DANGEROUS....... but not to your computer......... it is dangerous to your user id and passwords and your onlinebanking and online credit cards and any other online business where you type in private information.   This one IS WORTH REPORTING to the Federal Trade Commission.  I know....... the FTC eventually shuts one down and another one pops up.   STILL, when they "help" you, you wind up downloading MALWARE and software that copies every key stroke you make online.

When I checked with the FCC, the info page said to report it to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission).

Reckon you all have to check whether FCC or FTC for yourself.

Though we might not always think well of some of our government agencies, as I worked for one, the little people who actually DO the work do care.  To get it stopped, I think it helps to report it to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) though one person here was able to report it to the FCC (Federal Communications Commission.

Received call at 3/9/15 1:09pm EDT.   No name, just number.  Didn't have my glasses so picked up phone.  They didn't hang up, but didn't say anything so after 2 seconds, I hung up.

Sometimes, I think the scammers are "beating up" on people to make them call a certain number of calls.  Else, maybe it IS that 1 in a 1,000 who doesn't know.

I received a phone call at 11:22 AM today from the number 989-655-2274.
It was an unrecognizable accent.  She sounded like the ugliest woman posing as a man.  She said she was calling from Microsoft.  She also said they're getting a lot of noise alerts coming from my computer.  I was so pissed that these people KEEP calling and calling that I was actually speechless.  She then said, "Hello, hello."  I then said rudely, "What do you want?"  She was rambling on and on about some BS.  I then said rudely, "I can't even understand you."  She then hung up.
What I'd like to know is why isn't Microsoft prosecuting these people for fraudulently impersonating representatives of their company?

Caller ID read "Unknown Name and 989-655-2274."  Went to voice message, no message left.  I keep a log of these calls and periodically report them both to my state Consumer Affairs Division of Department of Justice and the federal FCC, which has a special complaint website.

Caller said his name is John a computer repairman. He had a heavy accent.  When I asked him why he is calling my phone, he hung up.

Finally got this infamous Windows call! Told him my windows were fine because it was raining outside and no water was coming in. Repeated that three times as he insisted he meant my Windows computer, then told me it was urgent because the computer was sending him messages. I expressed awe at that since I told him my computer never talks to me, and I also told him I was impressed that it was calling him long distance all the way in India. He said he was in Los Angeles, so I asked him about the weather there and he hung up. Kinda sad I only managed to keep him from calling other victims for a few minutes, but hearing his confusion was so much fun. They're like brainless robots trained to do only one thing...read the same script over and over...and it fries their lonely one or two brain cells if you hit them with anything else.
