I just goggled it and it says To dial Cancun from USA/Canada from a land line: 011-52 998 and 7 digit number

I got a call from this number twice in a row on my cell phone. First time I missed the call and they left a voicemail nothing was said and the second time I picked up and no one said anything. I called my phone company and got a new caller ID on my phone.

This number appeared on my cell phone 4 times in a row (they kept calling) ... no message.

I too, got a call from 998-106-9899 Sunday, 2/27 at 6:13 pm....no one said a word.

Just got two calls from this number with no one on other line. My mom and brother are in Cancun... this is why I said never go to Mexico! Weird things happen.

It is a default number given by anyone using their personal cell phone in Cancun.  I forgot that my cousin was on vacation there, but at least he left a message.  Mystery Solved!

Someone phoned me from this number to. The area code 998 is a country in russia. They left a msg. It was just a pocket call tho.

Getting phone calls from this number.  I have no idea who the number is and I am refusing to answer it.

My boyfriend is vacationing in Cancun with family. He called from this number and left a message. It's $2/min to make a call on your cell phone. That probably explains why most people aren't leaving messages.

I have some friends staying at the Moon Palace Resort in Mexico - it must have been them calling, but no one was answering me when I was talking.

I only give my cell number out to family members (my son, husband, sister, and my mom) so when this number came up on my cell that I did not recognize, I didn't pull over on the freeway to take the call. I let it go to voicemail, but no one left a message. Because of the fact that only a few people have my cell number, I thought I'd look online to see where the area code 998 was from....still nothing, but thought I'd post here anyway.

i just got a call from 998-106-9899 and couldn't get to the phone.  I called back and received a message that this number is unavailable.  My daughter is in Mexico and I see from other posts that this is a number from Mexico.  I'm worried.

This is still happening.  I've been calls all week made from a cell phone in Vegas and the number shows as this number.  Very strange.  Also, if I call him back on his cell number, it goes straight to voicemail...won't even ring

Ok so we know it's from Mexico, I got a call from this number (998-106-9899) at 6:30 am but I didn't answer and now I'm really really regretting it. My friend is in Cancun at the moment and I've been dying to hear from her... When I call back it says number is unavailable (which would make sense considering it might be a calling card). I wish I could call back! =(

Yes i got this call from this number as well...I answered but no one spoke...I didn't call back obvious!!!

Got a call about 5 times from this number, someone named Pat, seems quite sketchy.
