Harassing Phone Calls: What To Do

Calls and says I have called this number but I haven't called 801-972-2225

I have filed my number with the donotcall registry and I still get these robo calls.  Do I just keep filing with the donotcall registry?

My call was from 1-573-415-9264.  Man said he was from legal support servers and I would be served a
notice.  He said the server might be accompanied by a police officer to guard everyone's safety. Also, he said
to remove any large dogs and/or guns and I might wish to call my attorney or family member to be present.

I was told to call him back at 844-412-8680.  Has anyone else had anything like this?  I don't know what
to think or do.  There would be no reason for any kind of service to me.  I am a senior citizen and very
inactive.

For the past few weeks I have been receiving countless calls on my landline from this number:  52-347-718-2466  They call at least 10 times a day.  I have attempted to have it blocked to no avail.
Can anyone please help me with this problem?

954-210-9346 this is the new number this guy names Charles is calling from and he is with Global Mediation. This is the number he wants you to call back on 833-808-0985.  Here are two other numbers that are calling daily starting at 6am 954-607-2605 and 954-519-2519 these people are saying they heard I was interested in selling property and they buy property, call back or text with info. I texted them to stop calling and they kept calling I called and immediately the line hangs up.  This is becoming so crazy with these calls.

How do you "block" calls that are deemed "invalid" ???? (011 area code)

Why not waste their time!  Answer, laugh at them, make them tell you anything they know, make them prove, give them nothing.  Aggravate them to such a point they hang up?

The best advice I can give is: do not answer calls from numbers you don't recognize.  I actually have a message on my voicemail saying," If you call calling with a scam, selling something, or asking for a donation, hang up now... we will not respond.  If you are calling for another reason, please leave a message and we will call you back as soon as possible.".  It doesn't really help with robo calls, but with real people scammers, at least they know it won't pay to call repeatedly.  I NEVER answer calls I don't recognize.  If someone wants to talk to me, they can leave a message.  If I believe it's legitimate, the I will call them back.  This has significantly reduced the number of scam calls I receive.

Here’s another scam number to block 516-208-8574.  No message on answer machine.  When reverse called recording states there’s no such listing.  Has been calling for the last month. My phone is in Canada & scam number used is American.

Calls from 708-712-9293, Chinese!! Warning Scammers! Just blocked the call.

An article in AARP Magazine says for eight bucks ($ 8 ), a CRIMINAL SCAM ARTIST can download an App that lets the CRIMINAL "Spoof" (I.E. STEAL) a PHONE NUMBER.  THE CRIMINAL PUTS IN HIS NUMBER AND THE NUMBER HE WANTS TO STEAL (SPOOF)!  IT IS ____THAT_____ EASY PEASY!

That means THE CRIMINAL  calls someone (OR MANY PEOPLE) with YOUR number and it looks like (on the phone screen) that the call is coming from YOUR NUMBER, (XXX-XXX-XXXX), when it is REALLY coming from THE CRIMINAL'S NUMBER (ZZZ-ZZZ-ZZZZ).    HOW THE ___HELL___ IS THAT LEGAL?????  DAMN IT!
AND THE CONGRESS DOES NOT DO DIDDLY SQUAT ABOUT IT!  FIRE ALL 435 HOUSE MEMBERS AND 100 SENATORS!  NOW!

   So say you are the innocent party at 555-555-5555, and you see on your phone screen a call from XXX-XXX-XXXX, and you "Track Down" that number to be "John Smith, Anytown, Any State, USA"
   And "John" says "WAIT A MINUTE!  I NEVER CALLED YOU!  SOMEONE "SPOOFED" (STOLE) MY NUMBER AND IT ONLY "LOOKS" LIKE I CALLED YOU!"
   So the Criminal behind "ZZZ-ZZZ-ZZZZ" succeeds in masking his Identity.
   Any money you paid to  "SPOKEO" TO " "TRACK DOWN" THE CALL IS WASTED.
   AND THIS IS CAPITALISM??

   THIS ___REALLY____HAPPENED BACK IN JULY 2019:
   I was on my phone, (I WILL SAY IT'S "123-ABC-DEFG" (NOT THE REAL #) with my friend Roger (not his real name).   I see a call coming in from "123-ABC-DEFG" (WITH MY NAME ON IT) WHICH I RECOGNISE AS MY NUMBER! SO OF COURSE, I ANSWER IT.  THE CALLER HAS AN ASIAN INDIAN "SING-SONG" ACCENT (LIKE HE'S CALLING FROM NEW DELHI OR BOLLYWOOD!)
    THE CALLER SAYS HE IS CALLING FROM "MICROSOFT SECURITY" AND "MY WINDOWS HAS EXPIRED AND I HAVE TO PAY TO RENEW IT"
   SO I ASKED "HOW CAN YOU BE FROM "MICROSOFT" WHEN YOU ARE CALLING FROM ____MY___ NUMBER???"  THE CALLER HANGS UP
  I CALLED MY CARRIER, BUT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO.

Most of these calls are spoofed, and there are several services you can choose from to do your own spoofing. I too have received calls from East Indian-accented guys who claimed they were from Microsoft and blah-blah-blah, you know the drill. So having been a techie since 1969, I start wasting their time: Oh, really, what are you showing as my IP address; why would you be calling from MS when my network is all Macs? That’s about the time they hang up. Busted! I bought a Tel-Lynx call screener and that literally cut all robocalls, political begging, drug pushers, etc., to zero. Unfortunately the Tel-Lynx is no longer available but you may be able to find one on eBay.

I received a call from ARG and associates from Phillip Norris about me owing money to a bogus credit card that I never had. He called yesterday and today. Said papers would be filed with my county clerk. Yesterday he wanted money right away, wouldn’t even give me time to contact my attorney. Today my son received a call from them wanting information. My son refused. But yesterday the man knew all my info. My address, email, social security number. And my grown kids names. It’s very scary to an elderly woman living on a fixed income. My attorney told me not to worry about it. And this sight made me feel more at ease as well. The number he called from was 833-781-6400. Correction-the mans name was Phillip Norman.
