Got a message from the "LEGAL DEPARTMENT" yesterday... The same guy who got smart with me month and half ago... Saying he was from the legal department and I needed to contact him before this goes any further.
Boy I sure do hope this is a scam which the FTC has said as well as the Attorney General in NYC has said!

I don't understand why, with so many complaints all over the internet and different agencies, does it take so long for someone to do something about it and send these people to jail? It sholdn't be so hard to track them......
Many of the scammers are in 3rd world countries that do not consider scamming Americans to be a crime and do not cooperate with US law enforcement. Others are mobile, using cell phones and changing bank accounts often. Even the ones in the US with a stable address your local police are trained to catch robbers and murderers. Catching scammers is not at the top of their list.

One of our employees who is not authorized got to say yes to these SCAMMERS because they were just verifying the name of our company and phone number. Now they are trying to collect $532.44. I've contacted our lawyer and he told us it's a SCAM. He will contact the FTC. Their address;
YMG Publications 245 8th. Ave. Suite #219 New York, New York
And that address is also a Mail Box address not a place of their business! So you can't find them...

I got a call from these guys saying all i was doing was verifying information. I was hesitant since this was my first office job, but ended up going along with it after asking several times if we were being charged. The indian guy always said no. Later i started getting calls from someone in their legal department saying if we did not pay he would file a law suit. I freaked, thinking i had just cost my business serious money and gave them my credit card number. I told my husband when i got home, and he immediately knew it was a scam. This being my first office job, i had no idea this stuff happened. He immediately canceled our card. Not long after, the lawyer called again and when i told him i knew it was a scam he got mean. He asked why i tried to pay if it was a scam. I was tired of the whole situation and told the guy to give me the website. Www.yellowpagesnetwork.com our company had a listing on the site, but i could have made a site like that for two bucks a month. I told him i wasnt paying. He said he would let my comments go and he or someone else from legal would call back after the holidays. So far i have gotten calls from a woman in processing. I have reported them to the ftc and bbb. I only answer now to get names and phone numbers to update my report.

yep, here at a small church we got the call too from theyellowpagesnetwork...beware of Neil Anderson!!! and Steve!! they're annoying, they won't send a snail mail invoice, they'll email you a flaky, fake invoice (and hopefully nothing else)...DO NOT give them a dime. the true yellow pages is yellowpages.com
Thank you very much to you and all the people who took time to submit their experience with this kind of scam. A few minutes ago I also received the last call like this, claiming that they were calling from The Yellow Pages. They wanted me as the Office Manager to authorize the process of an outstanding invoice for the amount of $599 in order to cancel our contract with Yellow Pages. They mentioned that they were just following up with my boss request about cancelling our contract with them. Of course, they also wanted me to say Yes to certain statements. They are aggressive, persistent and rude. Since, I manage all the billings of this office, I knew that something was wrong when they mentioned about an outstanding bill. They called several times and at the last call they yelled and screamed at me, threatening to send the bill to a collecting agency which would hurt this office's credit.

I got scammed as well....they got me with a verbal commitment over the phone...I paid 499.00 I finally figured out I was scammed...they still call back and i laugh at them asking the "they haven't caught you guys yet"...they just laugh back at me...they usually call from a prepaid call number so you can't re-call them back...
Thanks to everyone who posted here. I got a call today from a "Matthew Smith" with an indian accent. Claimed to be renewing my Yellow Pages listing. He had me verify my name, address and phone number and wanted to invoice me for $400 for a 2 yr subscription. I was then contacted by the "verification department" by "Jake Brown". I was skeptical and had already begun a google search when I came across this website. This convinced me that I wanted no part of any "service" they were offering. They were very aggressive on the phone and I will surely not pay any invoices that they may send.

I am most recent Victim of the Yellow Page New York. They called my receptionist repeatedly last year about renewing some advertisement, which we never had done.My receptionist declined their advertisement offers or any renewals etc. Then they requested her to speak with another agent to updayte their records. She thought she will veryfyr our address and get rid of the harassing phone calls, so so she verified address ect. They asked some tricky questions.They did not let her realised that were out of state company trying to trick her in conversation. After few months I got invoice of $ 579.23 with a threatening phone call from guy named Tyler Woods. He said pay this amount or he will send us to third poarty collections. I asked receptionist. She said she never requested any advertisements ever.It was just address verification. got angry and told him to do what he wishes.Now, my staff does not speak with any companoies who asks about any invoice or talk about anything new.They just take message and tell them they are not authorised to speak with unknown companies.Please be aware of this Fraud.I would like to know if they sent people to collections and what happened after that. We are worried ,we will con tinued to be harrassses. Dr.Harika, Morgan Hill Animal Hospital, California. Help appreciated.
