There's nothing to bust them for because they aren't doing anything illegal. Annoying and unethical, yes, but not illegal

I listened in while my Phone Tray message kept them confused for a while. Still using an "Amanda"-type sound board. Keeps repeating the exact same phrases that are obviously (after you've heard them a few times) recorded clips.

That's not a certainty. Highlights from the pattern of complaints include:
- Refusal to quit calling when asked
- Reps identifying as local police or implying that local police directly benefit
- Misleading "foot in the door" greetings which request a stranger's name

The third point can also be the poor training on soundboard use we've seen before, as when calls begin with absurd cycles of "Hello is (name) there" and the call recipient hears up to four different names. Anyway, there is enough wrong with the scene to rate it par for the course among "hero charity" campaigns, which is to say racking up Telemarketing Sales Rule violations for the FTC to cook with and no doubt scraps for state AGs to gnaw. User Laura tried to say as much here four months ago, albeit while incorrectly citing "TCPA laws" as an authority.

Rather than stack up affected phone numbers for another half a year, it's about time the investigation turned toward identifying the commercial fundraiser(s). Call recipients will seize the most control of the nuisance problem when the call center, nearly always the primary beneficiary, is exposed.

Here's another point. Even if you give these clowns nothing, they still know...…...Your name, your phone number, and where you live. That's really disturbing.

I personally suspect that most or all of the complaints about refusing to stop calling, etc. are not the Police Officers Support Association. There are so many similarly-named outfits scamming people that they're commonly mistaken for each other. Of course I can't be certain, but everything I've experienced and discovered about the Police Officers Support Association indicates that, as a union organization and PAC that's been online for over 20 years, they are pretty scrupulous about staying on the right side of the law, if only just.

Over the past year or so, I've received three or four calls asking for "Jody". When I tell the caller I'm not Jody, she shifts gears and asks "While I have you on the line, would you like to contribute to breast cancer research?" I told her that I've received the same bogus wrong number ploy call before. At the very least this sounds confused or unethical, and that gives me doubts about the legitimacy of her charity. At this point the caller usually hangs up.

If some cop organization wants money for something, mail me about it.   Other than that, go ... yourself, cops.
My charities are just as worthy as a cop one.  As people they are nothing special once the badge comes off.  In many cases, they aren't special with the badges on.  I live in Mass., dirtiest cops in the US.

My Steven Michael call came from Otis Mass.  There's no business in Otis Mass to support an enterprise like that.

Eddie from the Police Officers Support Association called my landline today! He asked how I was and when I said I was fine, he replied in a rude tone “Okay. Goodbye.” What’s his M.O.? Why would he do that?

Thanks for the info, I think I've been scammed, I think I talked to a robat, I am not sending it money when they were from Wisconsin. I only support local police.
