But note that the Police Officers Support Association is not a 501(c)(3) they're a 501(c)(5), which doesn't have the same requirements.

Our Chief of Police, said to not give them a dime, they don't give any of the donations to your local police dept, and our local police get paid through tax dollars, tickets, federal funding - more tax dollars and grants.

435-228-7222 Utah.  Call it back, wait through Eddie, connected supposedly to a woman in D.C.  She then gives out an 800 number not matching the Fla address when pressed.

Dex, what was the 800 number given for contact? It may be connected with the outsourced (telefunder) used by POSA, IUPA, LEORF!

They're definitely using an "Amanda" style sound board. The pitch states it's a "recorded message" but there's clearly a live person controlling it because they wait for responses and ask "is anyone there?" if you don't respond quickly enough. Also, they do state that they're about lobbying the government on behalf of police officers, so that's a refreshing bit of honesty. At least they're not claiming to be a charity.

The International Union of Police Associations (apparent parent organization of the Police Officers Support Association) has been named one of the 50 worst charities in America by smartasset.com:

Oddly, it does identify them as "International Union of Police Associations, AFL-CIO", which shows they're a union organization and not really a "charity", but as long as they're in the "50 worst" category I won't complain.

Ok, is it bad I read that site as missing two letters? These scammers give real charities a bad name...

This sounds suspiciously like calls I used to get from this or a similar name. The deep, gravely, police type voice was trying to get me to donate to them, as they gave aid and support to the widows and orphans of police officers slain in the line of duty. I asked for a breakdown of how much went to administrative costs and how much went to the widows and orphans. A whopping 5 % went to aid the widows and orphans. 95 % administrative costs.

Sir Bedevere, I have another number to add to the list. 478-721-8387; comes up on caller ID as 'anonymous', but the pitch from 'Eddie' identifies it as the Police Officers Support Organization. I reported the call on the thread for the number, and added a link in the report back to this thread so that people Googling the number can find it.(Mods, I hope that's okay; please edit if not.)

Oops sorry, wrong number given, that one is for a cc scam. This is the this scammers number 925 815 1082.  I thot the FCC busted these scum a few years back??
