    You agree? To what?

The post you replied to basically posted the scam email contents! So is it the contents of said email you agree with (as in attempting to claim some form of legitimacy where none exists) or that it was a scam and should be deleteted?

Sorry, but you pist was that vague!

Your friends are right! It's a junk text sent by scammers. Best Buy has nothing to do with it. I hope you deleted the text and didn't do anything else with it!

    * Nokia

There's a similar scam claiming to be from Best Buy out there too.

But this particular scam involves advance fee fraud! Be aware and beware! Don't fall for it!!!

It wasn't a wise move to post your number! Scammers who may happen to be lurking and reading could see it and you'd wind up getting multiple scam calls from them and other scammers!!!

    Okay, here's the facts!!!

    http://conversations.nokia.com/2010/02/22/nokia-lottery-is-a-scam/

"Nokia doesn’t do the lottery, or give away large sums of money. Nokia scam seems to be an increasingly popular search term and whilst people are becoming increasingly aware, scammers continue to bait innocent people to part with their hard earned money. Nokia lottery is a scam (there, a third time, just to be super clear).

    ....

We’ve even had comments (unapproved) from the folks behind the scam saying that they’ve received their winnings and moved from London to live in Mexico with their £350,000 winnings. Funny then, that their IP address originates in Lagos, Nigeria.

The scam, known as an advance fee fraud, nearly always follows the same format. Users get a text or an email saying they’ve won in the Nokia Lottery and that they need to send money, or airtime vouchers (which is like money) in order to receive their winnings. Nokia doesn’t do the lottery, or scams, so please, as Charlie said before, beware."

    http://www.spamfighter.com/News-17545-Nokia-C ... ottery-Scam.htm

"Nokia, a leader in mobile device market, has published an official communication for all its users spread across the world with a precautionary alert against a lottery scam turning viral in a short time, reported IBNLive on March 10, 2012.

As per the information by Nokia, several users globally have been distributing their e-mail address and other details on various Nokia forums in anticipation of the result of the "Nokia Lottery" participated by them.

"Nokia is not indulged in any lottery scam and any message claiming to be from Nokia is just a scam and the Company is alerting the users to remain assertive and not respond back to any of such e-mails or SMSes. Specially, the bank account particulars or luring with money for participating in the lottery", said Nokia, according to the reports of IBNLive on March 10, 2012.

Further, while alerting people for the same, Nokia held that if by replying, or following the requested actions, all personal details of an individual could be leaked out and misused. These kinds of messages are drafted quite tactfully to leave an impact upon the users. Due to such acts, some of the users either end up loosing money or even vital personal information too. As such, unless the message seems to be coming from an authentic user, a person should restrict themselves from answering the same."

    http://www.dia.govt.nz/diawebsite.nsf/wpg_URL/Services-Anti-Spam-TXT-Scams

"The following TXT message scams were reported to the Anti-Spam Compliance Unit and are listed below to help you avoid them.

Your Number Has won £195,000GBP On the Ongoing Nokia Uk PROMO to redeem,Send verification Number:CN-750623 to uknokiadpt gmail.com,OR call-+447831852639"

Nokia says it's a scam, others have said it's a scam! All you need to do is an online search with "Nokia Promo Scam" as the search terms!!! It's all there!!!

Anyone who comes here and thinks they won any sum of money from Nokia! You didn't! Nokia does not have any such promo going! You can't suddenly win randomly like that ... especially if you don't even use/have a Nokia Mobile phone as well as not entering anything (especially if the suposed promo or whatever never really exists to begin with)!!!

Stick your head in an old bucket and bang the bucket with a hammer!!!

Good Grief!!! try reading the posts before you post such nonsense!!!

Or ... try reading the name of this section "Phishing and Phine Scams"!!!

    1. Nokia is not, has not and never will have any kind of lottery promo!
    2. Nokia did not, will not and never will text or email you or anyone ... especially about such a thing!
    3. Nokia has nothing to do with the texts! It was send by scammers!!!
    4. The scam is a firm of advance fee fraud (think here of the 419/Nigerian email scam)!!!
    5. No one wins anything ... unless someone falls for it ... in that case the only one who wins are the scammers!
    6. Try common sense, if you never entered any kind of lottery than you can't win anything!!! Reality isn't like that ... YOU CAN NOT WIN IF YOU NEVER WNTERED TO BEGIN WITH! And even more IF NO SUCH LOTTERY EVER EXISTED!!! RHERE IS NO NOKIA UK PROMO LOTTERY!!!

My name is not important. My phone number is private and staying that way. My family is far from wealthy, but we're not stupid. We know that we have to earn our own money. We understand that anyone who breezes by and says we won a huge sum, from a contest nobody entered, is a liar and probably a criminal.

We also don't go around helping those same criminals by blubbering about our problems in broken English and training other scam victims to give away all their private information. That would be awful of us to take advantage of our neighbors that way, to help filthy subhuman thieves exploit those who can least afford a loss.
