I have had this happen twice in the last month. I get a call, the caller ID shows "Incoming Call". Not "unavailable, Not "unknown" , so when I answer it I get a LOUD BUZZ in my ear. Now the phone will not work. No dial tone....just that same loud BUZZ. The first time it happened ..I tried everything, then I called my land line with my cell..and it showed my cell number and it worked again . This time , it did not work again. So I have no phone. Even let the answer machine pick up and it had the loud buzz. So now I am without a phone other than my cell phone .Hope it didnt mess that up by calling my home ! Anybody know what this is ??????
What ever you do , do not pick it up. Happened twice to us....a Land Line. If you pick it up you get a LOUD buzzing noise ,and now I have NO PHONE ...just a loud BUZZ. First time it happened , eventually I called my home phone with my cell phone ,and somehow it unlocked my phone. I will NEVER answer an "Incoming Call" again . Something is WRONG !!! Seriously !
I agree with you . same thing happened to me call came in"Incoming Call" it rang I answered "Hello" no reply no sound and i hung up . my phone worked fine after the call.i think theses calls are done on purpose by a "COWARD"

I've been getting calls where the caller ID is 90784. the first time it was from one of theose companies trying to sell diabetic products. This last time it was an Indian accent and I told him I was on the Do Not Call registry. when I tried to get his name and number he hung up. now I get calls once a day at least with the caller ID display of 90784. If I answer and say hellow I get a recorded voice that says "good bye" and disconnects. If I try to do a call back it doesn't go through. Verizon says it is not a valid number.
90784 is not a zip code, 907 is te area code for Alaska.
I've also gotten a few calles from these scam artists displaying Private Number. The only reason I answer is my Brohter is a parole officer and when he calls me his number doesn't display on his phone either for security reasons and comes up Private number. he now sends a text before he calls as a heads up.
how do we get these calls blocked or reported to the proper authorities.
You can turn the ringer off on your landline, and you won't hear it ring.

If I am not wrong, these crooks have a habit of hacking into Modem+Internet+Phone devices during or after a robocall. The phone companies should pay close attention to it. Somebody the other day was complaining about their internet getting slow or stops working during a robocall. So the crooks who hack into the servers should be charged with disruption of phone as well as internet service. To mitigate such attacks, my advise would be to get two different lines. One for phone, the other for internet. Come on phone companies you guys are making billions in profits and you need to secure your servers from criminal entities like Card Service, and similar crooks.

I have been getting calls from India... sales calls.. after getting so annoyed at them with me saying take me off your list. don't call back etc, I now tell them "wrong phone. Who?? I don't know her. She doesn't live here." I think the calls have subsided, and yes I am on do not call registry.

90784 called again and a different guy named "Sam" with an accent from India wa on the line. I got him to repeat the company name, not that it meant anything, Diabetic Response Group. He launched into anting to verify that I was a user of diabetic products and that he had my name and address correct. When I asked him why he needed that information and what number he was calling from he hung up. Maybe now they won't call anymore. oh, and on my Verizon bill it shows up as calling from all 9's.

My caller ID showed no number. At the bottom were the characters V0216170403000 . Google was no help. Phonetray Free did its job and hung up on the number. I can't be the first person to get such a call.
5 digit calls are cell phone calls. Calling them back can cost you money! Ever see those shows on tv where they ask people to text/call in to vote? It's a 5 digit number, & the small print at the bottom of the screen tells you $$$ how much it's going to cost you.

Got a call today from an organization called the National Police Survivors Fund who claimed to be "collecting donations of $100, $75, $50 or some people even donate $35". There was the "Every 68 minutes an officer on duty is killed and this money will benefit the survivors."statement. When I told the man I was sorry but I just couldn't afford to donate this year but if he wanted to leave me on the calling list for next year maybe I could donate at another time, he became mad at me and said "I see in the computer that you didn't donate last year either. You really couldn't donate even $25 or $35 to help women and children of slain police officers? I said my husband does not want to donate this year and I am sorry. He then said " I see that you have never helped our organization last year or ever. I hope something bad happens to your family!" and then he hung up on me. Nothing shows up on my caller ID, not even a private caller message. I don't truly believe any organization would let a caller say such nasty things to someone!
I am warning other people that I believe this was not a legit organization and I feel this is a phone scam. Beware!
Telemarketing is expensive. Even a legitimate charity will keep 60-70% of every donation to cover the cost of making the calls. Charities with "police", "sheriff", or "fire department" in the name are much worse. They often keep 95% of every donation to cover the cost of fundraising. You are wise to not donate to them.
You are very correct on what they "keep", so please if you want to give to local/state fire, law-enforcement, etc. send them a check and they get 100% of YOUR money. These people are just "beggers" that make a nice living calling for a handout and annoying people. Your dollar.....your choice!!!!!!!!!!!!
For you land line....at night, just unplug it. As for the rest of what you are saying.....we have an overactive imagination....don't we?

Just got a call (it's Sunday afternoon) said "incoming call" on the Caller ID, and no number. Sometimes this has happened when someone (I know) calls me from a cell phone, for somre reason, so I answered it. A man with a "slick" kind of voice (used car salesman type) said "can I talk to (my name)?" I said "no" and hung up. I should have asked who was calling... but took me by surprised. I don't usually answer calls if I don't know who it is or it looks strange. I pushed *69 and it said "we are not able to give a number for the last incoming call". I thought I had annoymous call rejection on, but put it on again to be sure. Maybe they have their phone listed as "incoming call"? But no number? It seemed kind of creepy, gave me a funny feeling. It was probably one of the people who occasionally call and ask for someone else, and if I know where they live, phone number, etc. Sometimes I do (family member) but say I don't give out personal info about people.I have a listed phone number so not unusual someone could know my name. Just having it set up to bypass Caller ID? And if this is illegal (to mislead people) how do we report it, if it's not registering as a number? I also get calls with numbers showing that make it look like they are in my state and area code, and if they leave a message it's something like looking for donations. I used to answer those, too, thinking it might be someone I know. Which is probably why they do it. People can "fry" your answering machine by calling it, remotely?
