Blow a whistle in their ear

Blocking these TM numbers has become my full-time job. They may not call you back from one number, but they'll spoof another. I have no idea how many numbers I've blocked in the last year - but I imagine it's over 100. And believe me, numerous calls have come from each one of those numbers, and many of those numbers have come from the SAME company. I am on the do not call list.. they get around it by saying - I'm not selling anything, I'm just informing you of a deal you cannot live without --- so let our salesperson come over and tell you what that thing is. RIGHT! NOT!

Look at the numbers you have blocked and see if you can consolidate them by blocking entire area codes. Aggressive blocking techniques will cut down on the amount of calls you get as your number will be less and less attractive to scammers.

They are not "getting around" anything.  They are simply breaking the law, regardless of what they claim, because it will ultimately end up a sales call.  ©

What do you think of, "I run a ear testing service.  If you wish to use my service call me back."  No whistle until the call back.
Of course the robots would not care.
Also, to press charges you will have to crawl out from under the rock.  And as soon as someone crawls out from under a rock they will have their phone number published here.  So, if you are legit you wouldn't need to worry.  However, to make a long story short, those who are on the wrong side of the law can't use the law.

Tell them that Jesus loves them!  That's right - If you understood where the evil telemarketers are coming from, you'd know that the best way to ensure they'll never call back is to tell them that Jesus loves them.  I knew a guy who ran a telemarketing boiler room and I asked him where he found employees willing to do such work?  It's easy, he told me - I just look for people with piercings, lots of tattoos, and other outward signs that they are intentionally trying to scare others away.  He explained that they are typically people who hate society, but have trouble finding other jobs (I wonder why).  He told me that they enjoy the work because it pisses people off to receive their calls - which reinforces their firmly held belief that society hates them.  He said they love to hear the word 'NO' and the worst thing you can do is curse them or call them names - They really get off on that.  Get this - He said the best way to get them to hang up and leave you alone is to start telling them about how much Jesus loves them.  That is so opposite what they believe about themselves that they will not be able to stay on the line attempting to get you to buy something.

Sorry, but harassment, illegally calling numbers weather or not on the do not call list. I reserve the right to defend my self from harassment. So to ALL phone solicitors, I do not care if you are "putting food on the table for orphans " "surviving" "paying off debt"  . I hope all you rot in hell. I do not care what excuse you give. You know what you are doing is intentional harassment to get / scam /  intimidate / lie to bet money from others. I would expect you to state anything to justify your actions. Oh, and by the way, using the whistle was not intentional, I was just testing the whistle when the phone rang and I was breathing out at the  time. Just like calling me on do not call list was not intentional. and calling again and again and again. ...

That is just about as effective as blowing a whistle to stop calls, or blaming "lone stranger" for the calls!

Yes, most posters would encourage you to defend yourself ... but the whistle is an extremely INEFFECTIVE method, because:
- Robots don't care about whistles
- The call centers employ multiple "callers", and your whistle does not affect the next "caller".
- The volume is probably reduced by the phone circuitry

Whistles are a childish, ineffective, inconsequential "defense".  But, maybe that fits your mental status.

47 pages of statements that usually say "whistles don't work" ... but you still think they do.  That certainly reveals something about you!

Try using a REAL defense ... call blockers indeed work, if used correctly!

Im on the fence about this one. If I answer and I am talking to someone, I make a snap decision on the spot if they are annoying enough for me to do something. Some say just hang up and ignore them, others say get even by making loud noises, yet others say to waste your own time to waste their time.  I have used all the above choices at one time or another.
While all sound like good advice for the many different people, I still used my own good judgment on a per call basis. What I dont get is why some people have to press the issue as if what they do is the only choice people should be making. Well to those of you who think that way, your not much better than those annoying callers who constantly call. IMHO

Whistles are childish and ineffective?  Telemarketing companies who blatantly disregard "Do Not Call" lists are "childish".  Most (I didn't say all) of the employees whom work for these companies are "childish". Call me and we'll see just how ineffective you think the whistles are.  Call blockers are ineffective. I've had several telemarketing calls in the past year that appear to have originated from a local area code.  Google "spoofing" if you don't believe me.  Telemarketers are always a step ahead of call blockers, much like most scammers are one step ahead of every anti-virus software.

Whistles are childish and ineffective. Because the phone circuits and equipment simply are unable to transmit a high-pitched 120dBA audio blast to the other end. They are only designed to transmit normal volume and voice frequencies. Have you ever over-powered your stereo speakers or amplifier? Or tried to run your loud music through a tiny speaker? You know that garbled or clipped sound that isn't nearly as loud as your volume indicator thinks it should be? That's what happens.  You hear the full, unfiltered, deafening blast, they hear something much less through that little tiny speaker in their handset.  Telephones are simply not designed to transmit and reproduce the same audio fidelity that you'd like.

Believe me - if phone circuits could accurately replicate and transmit 120dBA whistle blasts into some poor saps headset, I'd be with you 100%. But they can't, they don't, so I'm not.

Just wondern' what do the temp, cold, rain, or snow have to do with you bein' on the do not call list?

Harley, I guess you think being snotty to people is effective, but it's a bit like blowing a whistle.  It may give you some sort of adolescent joy, but it does little else.  Guess what?  Some of us aren't in a position to ignore "all calls from unknown numbers" for various reasons that don't concern you, and call blockers are far from  universally applicable.  Get over yourself.

Have you ever heard of the kiss principle my friend? It's real simple, don't answer an unknown phone number and the phone call will dry up after a time, after all no answer, no scam, no money from you and they will go on to the next sucker they get on the phone. Oh by the way the kiss principle means- Keep It Simple Stupid, seems that it might need to be spelled out for your intellect!!!
