Why even answer the phone? There is caller ID and a variety of call blocking techniques you can use. Even without these, the telemarketers do not let the phone ring more than three times to avoid the call going to an answering machine.

You cannot be sued ,pursued. Or anything for blowing a whistle in the receiver of a phone , when that phone called you. I do it all the time I hope your ears bleed hope your kids grow up deaf so they can't talk to anyone.  Stupid people who are stuck making calls all day should [***] themselves and their family's out the money is more honest. You call me your ears will swell.

To all non-compliant telemarketers;
We’ll record you, and do anything we want with your illegal call, including  posting you all over the internet. Any of you don’t like it, bring it on. We the Consumer cant wait to see all about you, in front of a Judge.

STFU you annoying waste of air. you CANNOT be sued OR have charges pressed on you for blowing a whistle in to YOUR OWN phone, at YOUR OWN house. that's MY phone that you're you're calling at your own risk you scumbag. get a REAL job & stop trying to steal from the rest of us that live respectful lives and live everyday with the shame God gave us so we don't act like you mindless monkeys with your call lists... you are thieves- don't try to church it up on this site ***hole.

Be polite, get as much info as you can about the company calling you (website, a callback number, if they have reviews online from the BBB or Angie'sList, what the weather is like in the city they're calling from, etc) and use that intelligence to ID the company and sue them under the TCPA. The cost is less than $100 in most cases, and you stand to recover $500 - $9,000 depnding on your state small claims limits and the number of violations the telemarketer perpetrated.

re: using an air horn / whistle

I wouldn't recommend this, not just b/c of the (mostly non-existent) liability issue, but b/c it could inspire a telemarketer who is already willing to break the law to add your number to a harassment list.

But, that said, if you want to cover your backside re: a recorded line, you should blow it in mid sentence and act like *they* blew the horn. How's a recording going to tell the difference?

Seriously people....IT IS You that do surveys, or publishers clearing house, or some stupid game online, or fill out forms for new magazines, or try out a new app on your phones. YOU fill out these forms and then you get calls and COMPLAIN about them when you are the stupid one that asked for it anyway!!!! Karma is a B****....you might not get a loud sound blown into your ear...but hopefully one of your kids or grandkids or your mother or father or grandmother or grandfather will get a loud sound blown into their ears... and they will end up in the E.R. in pain and now having a bill to pay because of low life's like yourselves, maybe one day you will be out of a job and the only thing that you can find is a telemarketers job....You all that are so high and mighty and think that your own poop does not smell....that is why this world has become so disgusting...because we have let our short nasty tempers and NO manners or morals rule what kind of people you all are today...Just say NO THANK YOU TAKE ME OFF YOUR LIST!!! It will take up to 24 hours but they will do it and stop filling out these forms you idiots and you will not get any calls!!!!
