Dumb me. Just read the manual for Uverse and found I can block all numbers except people I know or want to call me. Took a while for us to do it, but it works great. Any scammers call and they get told we are not accepting calls from their number from ATT and then a busy signal. We never hear it ring or see it on our caller Id. If we look on our UVerse online log we can see who called and it has really slowed them down. So many pages here that I didn't have time to read them all to see if anybody else had posted this feature, so sorry if it is a repeat. Thanks and phooy to the creepy creepus people.
Cool, thanks, ours rings once even if it is blocked and is that annoying. And only blocks 30 numbers. Even Uverse only blocks 20. Gonna look into that one cause they have 4 or 5 phones on that system so we can have one in all the rooms.

I have Panasonic home phone and it allows me to block numbers and I love it. Once I receive the unwanted call. I go through almost that same process as saving a number to my phone "phonebook" but it also has an option of blocking that number. The next time the number attempts to call I will hear 1 ring and the call it gone. I am not sure what happens to the caller but I never hear from them again. this is the information in the users manual for the phone.... Call block This feature allows the unit to reject calls when: – the unit receives a call from a phone number stored in the call block list as unwanted (“Storing unwanted callers”, page 26). – the unit receives a call without phone number (“Blocking incoming calls that have no phone number”, page 26). When a call is received, the unit rings briefly*1 while caller information is being received. If the caller’s phone number matches an entry in the call block list, the unit emits no sound to the caller, and disconnects the call. (Caller ID subscribers only

I have a Panasonic Cordless phone answering system model number KX-TG7641 which can block 30 numbers. In addition, I have a HP Office Jet (All-in-one Printer that can print, scan, fax and copy). This can block upto 100 numbers. The inconvenience is I have to keep the printer ON all the time. One day, the scammers will get tired and will remove my number from their calling list. It is just a hope!

As annoying as these calls are, Caller ID works for us - we just do not answer, then delete the unwanted numbers. This works for our landline. My husband is home all day as he is handicapped, and the landline is for him to use if necessary. Neither of us is overly fond of cell phones, although I have one for when I am out on my own. My cell phone so far hasn't received too many calls. It has the block feature which I've used for the few I have received.

If my Panasonic phone could block more than 30 numbers it would be great, but ...
The Sentry blocker is looks good in that it blocks all the calls, but you can not program in permitted calls. Also, it like other call blockers does not display the name so if you get a call from someone like your doctors office you have to look up the number to make sure you don't block a good call.
My CPU call blocker is good, but you have to deliberately block calls. It is good in that with my DECT phone you just need to hit #2 to block calls from the handset and don't have to be standing at the call blocker. The limitation is that you have to program every blocked call, and these scam artists have unlimited numbers. It is good at least that I don't get repeat calls.
I have a Panasonic phone and so does my mother. Like you I wish it could block more numbers like their other models do. But it is better than nothing.

We are on AT&T U-Verse VOIP for our wired phone lines with four extensions. What is a good device that could be placed at one location to block calls to all phones? Is there such a thing? We currently have the U-Verse online 20-number limit call blocker that works very well, but it's starting to get too small for our increasing numbers of annoyance calls. 20 numbers is not enough.
Thanks.

I got a cordless phone with build in answering machine from oversea. Look similar to Panasonic cordless phone but it can block up to 1000 phone number plus 12 area code. The draw back are no warranty in N.America and it use 220v.
Wow. Everybody had these fancy blockers. I have the d******t*** 80 and love it but it has reached its max. Time for a newer model. What I found is these scammers get smarter. They stop calling for while when they realized they are blocked. Then a random local number will call you and once you pick up. Whammy. Your back on the list and a myriad of different numbers will begin the process over again for weeks. Viscous cycle. I wonder how many machines I will have to buy in the next ten years. Will a thousand number blocker be enough. Either way. Call blockers help save the day. And you can always just let it go to the ans machine or pick up and hang up quickly. Just don't say hello. Don't ans them. Or they got you. And no matter what you think you are accomplishing by asking them to stop calling you. You are not. It's most likely some rehab kid behind a desk laughing at you as he hits the enter key to check your name into the database of people who answer the phone at that specific time so the rest of the scammers know you are a legit number. Don't fall for it. If you really want to stop them. Just get blocker that blocks every call except invited ones. But the downside is you have to figure out who the legit companies you deal with are. Takes some time but worth doing
Whoever you are, stop using my name. Go and think up your own. But first learn to spell and write in complete sentences. Thank you. [:]

no call blockers do not work. many people i do know show up as "unknown" of "cell phone". if more people picked up the phone pressed "1" and wasted time of scammers, they would quit. a call blocker just allows scammer to skip over you and haply go on to next potential victim.
this is the truth deal with it.
if you have time for forums than you have time to mess with scammers.
you choose not to that's on you. don't discourage others from doing real work. don't tell folks that call blockers will fix the problem. just be silent in here the way you are when the phone rings...
i am here to fight scammers. are you here for social reasons? they have facebook for that.
