Blocked by "OctoNet HTTP Filter"... how to get unblocked??

I was surfing around this site from my home computer when I suddenly started getting the message "Your request has been blocked by the OctoNet HTTP filter." Now every time I hit the site I get that message. I had to VPN into my computer at work to post this.

Will the block get lifted after a period of time or does an admin have to go in and manually unblock my IP? My IP at home currently is [hidden]. Thanks...

Looks like I'm unblocked now, or maybe it releases the block after a few hours.

    Thanks...

Dunno what the heck it is.  I got the same [Blocked-by "OctoNet HTTP Filter"] message the other day and found your post when I did a search for it.

In early June site visitors were being locked out by accident with a similar error report. When you see goofy behavior and you're pretty sure the fault is not at your end, contact Admin and someone will help sort it out.

Please see Resident47's post before yours (Dated: 24 Nov 2012). What was suggested in that post will usually will clear things up.

To combat the spam the website receives we developed a filter that watches for a suspicious browsing behavior and blocks the user if s/he is suspected of spamming. We keep tweaking the algorithm to eliminate the false positives. Please send us your feedback, and we will look into this.

@Julia, who is "we"; Who do you work for?

I am getting this error message in my iPhone when using Safari & Chrome, so I don't believe it is Cookie related.

@Resident47, how do we contact "Admin"

I have no issues with accessing the site from my computer, so what have these algorithms done to my iPhone???

The most likely you IP address is blocked. Please open http://whatismyipaddress.com/ and send me the IP address it shows, so I can check what is wrong. If you do not want to post the IP address on this page, use the feedback page https://800notes.com/contactUs/.

I submitted the IP details you requested via the feedback page at https://800notes.com/contactUs/

After seeking help at an iPhone store where their networked Macs were able to successfully visit 800notes.com while my iPhone, using it's AT&T cell network only displayed the Access denied by OctoNet HTTP Filter screen...

The consensus was that the site's OctoNet setup was blocking the AT&T IP address I was using.  After returning home, I connected my iPhone to my home network, which is on a Time-Warner RoadRunner service, and it continued to display the Access denied by OctoNet HTTP Filter screen.  HOWEVER, my PC, on the same home network, using FireFox, MSIE and Chrome was able to visit the 800Notes.com site unimpeded.  I then disabled my iPhone's WiFi and tried again, and still could only get the Access denied by OctoNet HTTP Filter screen.

This is a very frustration issue!

I might add that during a short trip up the NorthEast corridor between NYC and Boston, my iPhone continued to display the Access denied by OctoNet HTTP Filter screen.

The conclusion by the Apple techs was that the issue is with the 800notes.com site, and it seems to be blocking access by my iPhone...

I would be most appreciative for any assistance in resolving this.

    THANKS!

About six months ago (~June 2013), my iPhone (Safari) accessed this site OK; now, since September 2013, when I access via my iPhone (Safari), I can only see the Access denied by OctoNet HTTP Filter screen...

My PCs (laptops & desktop; Win XP, Win 7 & Linux) can access anytime without encountering this block.

So the issue seems to be triggered by the iPhone... I have tried Safari & Chrome -- both are blocked; HOWEVER when I use MiniOpera, I can use 800Notes.com without being blocked.

Any ideas as to why iPhone Safari & iPhone Chrome are blocked whereas iPhone MiniOpera is not?   ...what we can do to have this corrected, so Safari on the iPhone is no longer blocked?

    Thanks in advance!

MiniOpera connects to websites through an Opera proxy.

It looks like your IPhone connects to the Internet through a blacklisted HTTP proxy or VPN. Your requests come from a non-AT&T IP address.

I'm not sure how I can manage the IP Address that my iPhone uses...

FYI, when I am at home, it connects via my WiFi, which uses TWC RoadRunner as the ISP.  My Laptop is on the same WiFi connection, and can connect to 800Notes via Firefox and Chrome with no issues, yet the iPhone is still blocked.

When I am away from home, my iPhone uses AT&T cellular for connectivity, as well as a number of public WiFi networks, and the iPhone has been blocked since the start of this thread, regardless of what provider is being used.  Earlier in 2013, I was able to use my iPhone to access 800Notes, so something has changed since mid 2013 that has started the blocking...

    > It looks like your IPhone connects to the Internet through a blacklisted HTTP proxy or VPN. Your requests come from a non-AT&T IP address.

I am not using a VPN;  either the HTTP proxy used was changed in mid 2013, or it was first blacklisted in mid 2013...

I would appreciate any suggestions on what else I can do to troubleshoot this.

    Many thanks in advance.
