Dangerous New Trend in IRS Scams
- Teddy replies to chainsawI've been a member of AARP for a while now, and have never gotten a call. Maybe because I took the time to edit how they can contact me when I joined? I bet you could still do it.
- Tim replies to chainsawIt was just a total waste of time and money for me-all their special offers from their "associates" really aren't special at all-just do your homework. There has to be extra $ built in for the kickback AARP gets from their "associates".
- William replies to chainsaw| 5 repliesI have not joined the AARP and I have noticed a severe uptick in the scam calls coming to my landline phone.
There are more criminals out there making phone calls !!
My father has belonged to the AARP since the turn of the century.
He gets very few calls from scammers.
He does not fill out surveys or enter contests.
He does not buy things from any business over the Internet.
He hangs up immediately on calls that sound like scams, if he decides not to screen them with his answering machine. - post pending moderator approval
- Kat replies to Lawyer| 3 repliesWhy did you revive a dormant thread to post this "Information"?
- Nimrod replies to Kat| 2 repliesMaybe because "Lawyer" is up to no good!
I tried to access the link and it was blocked as "Malicious source/Malnet". - MikeHuntleton replies to NimrodYep, just checked and it is a known phishing/malware distributer site. The email addresses are gmx.com and mail.com
Its a variant of Mac Defender malware.
Source - Kat replies to NimrodGee, what a surprise. :-)
- Frank Rollins replies to Audrey A| 3 repliesYou're screwed, dude. You received a courtesy call in the hopes that you would resolve the situation. It sounds like you waited until they were close before you called. Jail does seem to be your final destination.
- Kat replies to Frank Rollins| 1 replyConsidering Audrey A posted here a year ago, your warning is a tad too late. Of course, since we all know this is a scam, it doesn't really matter.

- BigA replies to Frank RollinsThe IRS is an administrative agency. I know that it a lot for your small brain to fathom, but that is the way it is. As such they don't bother taking people to court or "arresting" them. They don't have to do that as they have many other remedies available to them Remedies that are much less costly and time consuming, especially in a criminal case where the burden of proof is "beyond a reasonable doubt", and which can take months or years to even get before a judge. They can simply freeze all your assets, bank accounts, stocks, etc. If they can do that with a simple electronic order or by fax, why would they spend the money for arrest and conviction? You obviously work for some of these scammers from India. Probably the money mule laundering the money here in the states. Take a hike "Frank" because your lies have been exposed.
