DMCA abuse: George Caceres, Web Sheriff, John E. Henehan

Yesterday we received a DMCA report related to the 877-214-0770 thread. It was submitted by WEB SHERIFF and mentioned GEORGE CACERES as the rights owner, however in the "Infringing Materials" section they did not list any copyright violations. Instead, they wrote about defamation, libellous allegations and even infringement of human rights, but did not specify any

    Sooner or later, the alleged lawyers who send whines under guise of some alleged "copyright violation" will find themselves charged with practicing law without a license.

    If you were already using Cloudflare, I'm sure you can just ignore any DMCA requests; Cloudflare never follows through and your hosting provider may not be able to properly authenticate the claim.

    To The Site Owner - Do Not Play Defense with these guys. Retain an Attorney on staff or on a retainer agreement. When you get one of these cease and desist notices, have your Attorney response. DO NOT RESPOND YOURSELF. Have all legal matters handle by your Attorney.
    More importantly, response to any lawsuit with a counterclaim or complaint.
    Make sure to seek damages, Attorney fees and court costs.
    Post all available information about those that filed these lawsuits online. It helps law enforcement.

    Was there any mention on this site of the 1.5 million DMCA takedown requests Google "processed" with no human oversight whatsoever? Over 80% of these links were to perfectly valid content under our fair use and other existing rights. The problem is the DMCA itself, the "Web Sheriff" phenomenon is an inevitable result of this fascist law.

    this web sheriff got to a few of my videos. yes they were copyrighted videos but 90+% of the copyrighted videos i upload are always handled by the real owner and they most of the time simply monetize it and never do a take down. but this web sheriff prick always does a take down causing me to get a strike. in a sense hes ripping off the true owners from being able to monetize the video! no body or nothing is ever done about this web sheriff azz

    WEB SHERIFF got it's start policing the internet looking for people pirating porn. As I recall the WEB SHERIFF founder was actually a porn actor that was upset at the loss of work he was getting and decided to do something about it since he had the time.
