My daughter get a call from this number claiming she will need to call her back or be arrested.... i call them they claim they are some collect agency and my daughter needs to go into court or will be arrested or thrown into jail... their exact words... very unprofessional they will not tell you what court or anything about this supposed case against her and then they get mad and hang up... calling back they will just pick up the phone and hang up i believe this is not some law office as they claim and if anyone can locate these people report their behavior to the BBB or something because attorneys really should not play games on the phone when they do not get their way...

I got a call this morning also after investigating this number it is all fraud they can not arrest you for non payment bill if they were a collection agency they would have to send you a certifi letter and they told me that they were not a collection agency they told me they were called easy money law department.  I just put in a complaint with the state att.  The scary part is they have my social security number and my bank account number so when I told them that I was going to contact a lawyer and I work with lawyers they hung up on me.

I received a call from this "company" yesterday at my job. They left a voicemail message stating that I needed to call them or have my attorney call them as soon as possible. There was a pause in the message before the woman said her name was Michelle White and the message continued. The calls start coming in at 8 am EST. This morning they called my office number 4 times and never left a message. I finally answered and when the woman asked to speak to me I told her I had received her message yesterday and wasn't interested in speaking to her. Since this is a phone number out of CA they would not call NJ at 8 am EST as it is only 5 am in CA. I informed the woman that the only attorney should would be speaking to would be one that I was considering hiring to sue for harrassment and I hung up. She called back and told me she would be faxing all the legal documentation to my employer so that I would get fired and then not be able to get another job in this country for the next 6 years so I better watch out and then she hung up.

I got the same call.  Telling me I was going to be arrested on Monday.  When I ask name  and address so I could have my local police department call him he got mad and hung up.  I keep calling this number and hanging up Now I'm received a busy signal and they won't answer me.  We need to all keep calling and hanging up maybe they will get the hint.  I reported this to the California attorney general and my local police.  He told me he was with the US Justice Department. I would think this is very illegal!

I got a call from them at my job today. She called my cell phone first then called my job. I told her I couldn't take personal calls from work then I hung up. She called back and left a msg on my voicemail at work and said that if I didn't call her back that i would get fired from my job today. The only thing she said was that she was a lawyer. The 818-836-6620 was her call back number but the number she called from was 209-916-2212. I don't know what to do about it.

Hi. I have been receiving calls and messages from this same number and the name of their fraudulent company is Anderson Law and Associates. My husband and I have been calling this number back all week after discovering that it was fraudulent and when we called back someone named Mark Murphy answers as if they are a real law firm. They are perverted and when we told them that they were going to jail because the FBI is now involved, they pretended to be afraid and then laughed and proclaimed that the were in India and that we are going to be scammed one day. The number is a California number. However, they are fraudulent. DO NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION! THIS IS A SCAM!!!!

I just got this cell phone call from this guy who threatened me with court but his English was so terrible I couldn't make out what it was all about. He told me that I need to take care of this today or else then he said and I could understand him; "Take care of yourself!" I'm not calling him back if he can't speak clear English.

I recieved the same call and I called back and he said he worked for a law firm. I asked him what this was all about and he said it was from a payday loan. I told him that this was not right. He named a payday loan company. I was on the computer looking up the number that was on my cell phone and I asked him where they were located and he said California. I know this was the area that showed up on the screen. So I asked him what part of California was he in and he said San Diego and the screen showed a different area in California and he procedded to say that they had a office in San Diego. He wanted $996.00 today. He also wanted me to fax my debit card and my home address and he called me a different name and said he had alot of accounts in front of him and he was sorry for the mix up. I just wish they would stop calling and leave us alone.

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
    1.    The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.
    2.    Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.
    3.    File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.
    4.    File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.wvago.gov
    5.    File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)

By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

    Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors
    By Leslie McFadden • Bankrate.com
    Monday, Aug. 3
    Posted 2 p.m.
Bankrate reporter Leslie McFadden contributed this entry.
This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
    The BBB offers these tips:
    •    Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
    •    Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
    •    File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    •    File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.

Don't Play With Me replies to denise o
I just recieved this very same call and they are UNBELIEVABLE.  I was scared to death.  The phone call went pretty much the same as everyone else's accounts.  The gentleman I spoke with said his name was Daniel Marshall and he sounded as if he came from India or something.  He claimed that he was calling to inform me that my case was being sent to the District Courts located in my city and state.  I asked, "What case are you talking about?"  He proceeded to say, "Ma'am, there is a civil case being held against you and it is my job to send this to the court for prosecution."  Of course, I'm like, WTF?  So, I asked what he was talking about and he went on to say that they have an audio tape of me authorizing a transfer of funds for an online payday loan and when they went back for the payment, it wasn't there and I now have to pay $5,920.92 to keep this from going to a criminal status.  He then says that he can do me a favor and I can just pay $578.29 and nothing will happen.  Just send over my driver's license and a copy of my visa via fax and he'll stop the prosecution from happening.

I'm like, RIGHT, so you mean to tell me, I need to send you $578.29, THEN after you take my money you want me to contact your Investigation Department, give them a withdrawal recertification number and they will reopen the case, I can fax over my bank statements showing nothing EVER went into my account and then they will start the process to reimburse me for the money I sent in.  I asked if I could just fax over the proof it never went into my account and Daniel said no, it doesn't work that way.  It's too late to prove that right now, you have to go through our investigation department AFTER you pay the amount and I am just a litigator so I can't authorize that.  So, if you can't authorize that, how in the hell are you going to make a $5,920.92 debt go away for $578.29?

I will admit, I was scared as hell at first because he mentioned criminal charges.....so I was like, "Hold on, wait a minute, let's talk about this" but the more he talked and just the fact that I know that I NEVER recieved a dime of this money let me know this was a crock of B.S.
