I received a call from 000-000-0000, CID "NAME NOT FOUND" at 2:13 PM on March 13, 2013.  This is the first call we have received from this number in recent history, but I am not sure whether we have been called from this number before.

I could hear that there were two men on the other end, one with the phone (Person A) and one talking to the person with the phone (Person B).  Person A interrupted his conversation with Person B to talk to me, and asked if I could pass the phone to my mother.

When I said that she wasn't available and asked if I could take a message, he just hung up.

Been receiving these daily.  Answered one yesterday and they said that I had a virus in my computer and to go sit in front of my computer and they said that they would tell me what it was.  I'm not that stupid.  Told them my electricity was off and they asked when it would be back on.  I said how would I know and told them to take me off their list and to never call here again.

These are calls coming over your data plan. ATT doesn't even have a record of the calls. I'm going to shut off roaming for a day or two and see if they stop.  I get 2 a day.  You can set a silent ring tone to a contact you name "BLOCK" and at least you won't hear the ring.

If you have any bank accounts, then call the bank's 800 number and talk to them about your concerns.

However, the number calling you is spoofed.  The caller is most likely a scammer, and if you had pressed "1" I suspect you would have been prompted to enter your card number or other personal information.  So I doubt there is any cause for concern unless you pressed one and answered the subsequent questions.

I hope this eases your mind.

    JB,

The only way I can conceive of someone calling you by way of your "data plan" as you so quaintly put it, is if you are actively running an app that provides telephony/chat functionality (Groundwire, Facetime, etc.).  Nor do I see any relationship between such calls and roaming.

I think you are somewhat confused about how telephony and the cellular system works.

If there is something I have failed to understand about your assertions which would shed more light, I hope you will explain things more fully for me.  And if there is anything I can clarify, please ask.

Otherwise, I'm filing your post under "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing".

000-000-0000 Can't someone make all the annoying time wasting pests in the world stop calling?  I pay for a phone for my and my family's convenience not so people can harass us all day long.  I am so tired of these  calls.  Never answer the phone anymore, let it all go to message.

    Not Gonna Answer
I WILL NOT answer a number I don't know and especially one like this.  I am afraid that it is one of those that you answer and next thing you know your phone bill comes with a million dollar charge.
