    Previous Phone Company Employee
As someone whose personal privacy is on a level with the First Amendment, I have developed several ways of dealing with unwanted and unnecessary calls, since I have no intention of speaking with someone I don't know, regardless of what the are "giving away" or "seeking my opinion about." If I don't see a name on Caller I D that I want to or need to talk with I don't answer. I don't care how often they call or how long it rings. Also, my family gave me a new phone for Christmas that gives me the ability to "block" 35 phone numbers of any type.  The phone is a Panasonic, but it's probably a standard feature on newer phones. The only glitch in the blocking process is when any number I have blocked previously calls, the phone rings two short rings.  That's all.  Just a little problem if I am napping.  However, the number that called is still registered on the list of callers so you can check who it was, if you care.  At any time you can remove any number you have put on the list and replace it with another or leave the space open for future use.  In addition this phone allows me to activate a "Silence" feature, specifying any time I don't want to know the phone is ringing.  All calls are recorded, so you can check the list when you want to see if you need to contact anyone. Also, I was told by a long-time technician with the phone company, if you get a call from an unwanted source which you identify on Caller I D, pick it up as if answering but don't answer just dial several random keys in succession.  Then hang up.  Somehow, that tells their system they have dialed a FAX.  That usually takes care of the problem very efficiently. I have had almost no repeat calls from such sources.

Also, please take charge of this situation. This is your service in your home  Your are in charge.  I read a lot of entries here from people who sound like they have relinquished all control.  Stop being a victim.  Take command.  It's much better for your blood pressure -- and self confidence!!  Good luck!

Please read and learn, Each time we get a call from a number we can't call back or from Card Member Services.. I call our phone carrier (A.T.T.) (Verizon) who ever you have. The point of this is if these people make one million calls a day and if our carriers get 500.000 calls a day with people saying hay what up. Who is calling, please do something. Our telephone carriers will soon do something about these calls. Each time we call we give our name and number and I have at one time called 6 times in one day Verizon didn't seem to mind.
All we have to do is take up some of their time, while they mark down what type of call was made, if they start getting 100.000 complaints a day. these calls to you will stop. please copy and pass along to other web sites. By all means write your own, lets get our point across to our phone company.

I have been getting calls from this number for about a year, one time they will say they are trying to serve papers to a person I do not know. David Hill had left a number to call back got the company name William Sanders & Assoc. # 888 317 6320 I called and David was out in the field. Next step was to call someone from Rip Off Report and they told me they are a scam and may have to change my number I have received about 18 calls from different numbers for this person, OutSource Solution, BMG Financial, and many other people Linda Williams 2x's would not give out her company # and tried to explain the FDCPA rules and hung up. Call her she is fun to talk to 512 271 1982 and say you are Tiffany Ryals. They will not take our # out of their system. Doug Larson, Sarah Ston 2x's trying to serve papers I called back nd said serve them freaking idiots.

We receive increasing calls from 000-000-0000. We let it go to answering machine & the voice asks us to press 1 to accept the charges &/or press 2 to speak to an operator. Sounds like a scam to me . I don't answed unknown numbers but the late evening calls are most annoying.

This number calls weekly. They never leave a message, I never answer and they are now blocked. Never answer calls from anyone trying to disguise or withhold their identity. It tells you they are not honest right off the bat.

I have received at least THREE calls a DAY since they started calling me.  I have requested, several times, for them to take me off their list - only to have them hang up on me!  I will be reporting them!  I simply do not answer the calls now and I have re-listed on the do not call list.

So I just got a call on my phone from 000-000-0000. My phone is a 4GS, carrier is Sprint. To the best of my knowledge sprint has no call blocker service, espcially for an iPhone. Turns out this is a record-a-call/robot for Republic Waste Services, who also owns Allied Waste and Rabanco, is having a labor dispute. Somewhere in the US there is a labor strike at a RWS site, so all locals can join by not crossing what's known as an "extended" picket line.So they were just calling to let us know that there will be no pickup this week with an allowable "double load" pick up next week.

Why not just use your real number, also isn't it illegal for a company under a labor strike to use a robo service? I think it's under the fair labor practices by the NLRB.
