I answered my cell phone for the first time yesterday with the 000-000-0000 number indicated on my caller ID.  I got the bull horn and "This is your captain speaking" and hung up right away.
This number has been calling my cell phone only (not calling landline) for the last few weeks... seems as though it started when the national DoNotCall list actually took effect for my number (since it takes a few weeks from when you sign up for it)... coincidence??

I've been getting the 000-000-0000 calls recently on both my cell and home phones.  I JUST got another one... I tried to hang up on the automated voice that told me that my response was invalid, but when I picked the receiver up again to *69 it to confirm it was the mystery 000 number, the recording was still playing!  I did this about a dozen times over about 10 minutes, and the call simply would not disconnect!!  So finally I selected 1 to speak to an agent... I also got someone who could barely speak English, and although he said the name of the company, I was so furious that I totally missed what he said.  What I did get was him thanking me for phoning them... that was it!!  I told him that I did NOT phone them, that THEY phoned me, and that I am on the DNCL (Do Not Call List) and to kindly remove me from their call list.  And he told me to f*ck off and hung up on me.  How's THAT for customer service?  Does ANYONE know the name of this company, so I can try to report them to the DNCL folks?  I think he said something like MC or MIC as part of the company name, but I'm just not sure.

I started getting calls from 000-000-0000 on both my cell phone and home office line (unlisted) a few months ago. Some calls even in the middle of the night. I actually answered today, went through their "automated survey" then finally talked to someone who said they were from "Answer Solutions" based in Chicago, taking overflow calls for other companies. She put me through to an automated message to have my number removed...we'll see if that works. All of my numbers are registered on the Canadian do-not-call list, but I guess that doesn't apply to U.S. companies.

I called this number and they asked me a lot of personal information.  I refused to give them anything except for my phone number for the so not call list..and they told me they could put me on the list without this info.  So not sure if it worked.  I hope so.  I hate this cruise line pre recorded message

Just received a call from this number, and yes, had the same fog-horn and "this is the captain calling".  I hung up before a "person" came on the line.  Is this the scam  offering the free trip?

Everyday at 10:30ish a.m. I get a call from the number 000-000-0000. It hangs up on the answering machine and it's starting to really annoy me.
What can I do to stop this from happening?

I held on the line long enough to get a person.  Actually claimed they were exempt from the DNCL (they're not) and refused to give their name.  The company has been reported

I spoke with my phone company about this because I was receiving a call at least once a day from the cruise folks and I was told that if you are in Canada and registered on the "do not call list" you are likely to get this phone call, which makes since because I didn't get it until I registered. If you call the CRTC to file a complaint against the company, there is a pre-recorded message indicating that law enforcement is aware of the company. Unfortunately, there are no recommendations as what to do. It seems as though someone at the CRTC is either selling registered phone numbers or someone may have hacked the list.

I am reading the posts by other people and it seems as though the encountered the same problem after they registered with the "do not call list." I don't want to seem American, but perhaps it's time to launch a class action lawsuit against the CRTC??? Anyone agree?

I received a call last night from a 000 – 000 – 0000 number. When I answered the phone a recording of a woman’s voice came on telling me that this was my last chance to lower the interest rate on my credit card and that I was to call back  to discuss my options. I hung up the phone immediately because I knew it was some type of scam.

My husband and I found a car that was advertised in Auto Trader. My husband tried calling the contact number however; the number was out of service. We then contacted the owner of this vehicle by way of email. We have been corresponding back and forth with this person a few times about his vehicle. He mentioned to us that he was in Iraq on a three year contract with the Canadian Military and uses SGT. before his name. He told us that his car was registered with eBay VPP and in order for us to make this deal official he needed some personal information, which we sent to him. Soon after we sent him our name, address and phone number we started receiving calls from numbers that we are not familiar with such as 000-000-0000 as well as 866 - 216 - 5397. I am wondering if this was all a scam to begin with. Has anyone ever experienced anything similar?
