I received a call from 1-888-320-8688 that I did not answer. When I called the number back there was a message stating that a new national call service was available at 10-15-15-8000 for $4.95 per call. I did not call the number. I believe this is a scam.

We just got our phone bill today. We were charged $7.53 for their service and we were in a casino, not even at home. It says it was for Dir Assist. This charge is dated 9-17. (That was a month ago yesterday.)

There was nothing on our answering machine from them nor on our caller ID from them. If I don't recognize a number on our caller ID, I don't even answer it, much less call it back. I will call AT&T tomorrow and let them know I am not paying it.

I got a call from a computerized voice saying it was an attempt to collect a debt. ALL OF MY BILLS ARE PAID before they are due. They left a number 1-800-821-6191 to call them back between 6am-7pm (PST). I called the next morning from the office. It referred me to this 1015158000 number. I started looking on line & guess what.....I'd like to think I'm smarter than the avg bear. Guess I need to keep a close eye on my phone bill for the next couple months.

I received a voicemail from a company to call them back at 800-747-8202.  Though the company is legit and the phone number was also suppose to be legit, I reached a recording when I called.  The recording said that the new nationwide number had been changed, then referred me to the 1015158000 number.  After reciting that number it continued with 702-555-1212.  The recording disclosed that the 1015158000 number would appear on my bill as a directory assistance number in the amount of $5.49.  I instead looked the number up online.  I ended up contacting the original company I needed to talk to through a different number and advised them of the problem.  They are looking into it.

I just noticed this call on my bill - 101-515-8000 - from 11/6/07 at 2:09pm.  I am not home during the day, so my answering machine takes the calls.  Nothing was on my machine and with no one answering the call, I still got charged.  I'm sure it is a scam... and am reporting it to my local phone company (verizon) and will request a credit.  If anyone receives these charges should do the same, otherwise, the scammers are winning.

hey! it's abt 5pm and i wasn't by my phone but a number called telling me that the national directory has changed.. the number it left was 888-532-5541 and refered me to 10-15-15-8000 and said for a charge of 4.95 i would be redirected... at the end of the call it gives 702-555-1212.. I also received at least three calls from their 800 number which caller ID said was unavailable......asking me to call them right away.

I never called back and then I received a post card in the mail!! Asking me to call them back about my membership - (24 hr Fitness) I called the number that was on the card and was re-directed to the 10-15-15-8000 number and advised it would be a fee of 'i thought $15 something' not totally sure about the figure.  Needless to say I didn't continue.

Question is - how did they get my phone number which is unlisted AND my Mailing Address which is not my home address???

I did not get the call--10:00 p.m. 5 weeks ago was listed--just the charge for $7.14 on my Verizon bill.  Looking at this web site and one more, I see Verizon mentioned more than once.  And these are all related to the above number.  Why does Verizon continue to list these charges?  They must know its a scam.

Called the 888-295-6524 help # listed on an achiever paper shredder looking for repair parts & got a garbled message to call 10 15 15 8000 for the new # but it would cost $5.49. I never heard of a 101 area code so looked on line & came to this site. I never called the 101 #, I've had enough aggravation with phone companies lately, I'm not not looking for any more. I'll toss the shredder like everyone else & go buy a chinese one from Walmart.

My husband and I had a charge of $13.02 from OAN Services tacked on to our telephone bill, I called their number, 1-800-944-0171, and was told that  the charge was for Nevada directory assistance, and the number was 101-515-8000.  Scam? You bet it is.  They tried to covince me that someone in my home had used this service.  Since there is no one but my disable husband and I living here, I had a few choice words for them, and told them they could scratch for any payment from us.  What really ticked me off was the fact the our telephone service provider just lets anyone tack charges on to our bill (this is the second time it happened to us).  Any suggestion as to how we can stop this from happening?

I just had the same scenario played on me - also OAN. They could not tell me who made the charge, neither could Verizon.  OAN did give me another number to call, for service@calling10.com, which also said they were just passing the charges through.  Sort of like unpealing an onion.  Verizon told me that FCC regulations require them to put such charges on customer bills - no questions asked.  Verizon did take the charge off of my bill.  OAN said they would take the charge off of my bill.  Calling10 said they would take the charge off of my bill and send a check.  Getting after the FCC and/or FTC and filing fraud complaints may be the only way to handle this - if then.

Got my bill, found a $7.57 directory assistance call.  On the day in question we were staying at Disney World.  As some of the others have reported, tried to say someone in our empty house called their 101 515-8000.  We are to get a credit, I hope my future does not count on recovering.

I just got a $7.87 charge on my Verizon bill for the same thing and same phone number. I called Verizon and they put a block on my account so no one else can charge something to my phone bill. But the painful part is that I have to call this OAN company and request they pay or credit Verizon. If they don't, then Verizon will still want us to pay it after 90 days.

I was trying to reach a company at their (800) # and it gave me that same message about their nation wide number is now 10 - 15 - 15 - 8000. I didn't recognize that area code and it seemed very fishy. Good thing I looked up the number online and saw all these postings about it.

Got a call at 8 am 13Feb2008 from Caller ID # 913-563-5523 / Caller ID description: WFNNB. When I answered  a woman asked for my wife by name. When I asked who was calling they said Victoria's Secret (my wife often makes purchases from them, so it sounded legit). When I said she wasn't home, they asked for my name (I didn't give it to them... I asked why they needed that). Without skipping a beat, she asked what our address was. I didn't tell them, saying "Why? don't you know it?". Again, without skipping a beat, she said, "Please have your wife call us?" I said "And this is in reference to...?" She responded "Oh, she'll know" and gave me the 1-800-655-7072 number to call. When my wife did, we got the odd request too dial 1015158000 "Directory Assistance number" which of course we did not do.
Any time someone is this evasive, don't be a sucker... DO NOT give them ANY information. Any legitimate business will be very up front about why they are calling you.

The 10-15-15-800 is a SCAM!  There was a charge on my AT&T bill from ILD Teleservices (10-15-15-800) for $7.45.  When I called AT&T, they were very helpful and offered to place the charge "on hold" until I counld contact ILD Teleservices. When I called ILD they told me the call was for "Directory Service".  I told them the call WAS NOT made from my number and demanded a credit to my AT&T bill.  They asked for more information, my phone number, address, etc.; wanting to send me a refund.  When I refused, she got "huffy" with me, but finally agreed to issue a credit to AT&T.
