This is ridiculous that these charges are being put on people's bill when it has been reported to the autorities. We never got that call to our house yet they charged us for it. By the way, verizon reps are jerks sometimes.

I received a text saying something about a directory service....I tried to delete the message but I guess it signed me up for the service as I was being charged $9.95 (monthly) since April of 08 before discovering the scam.  I have since called and tried to get it canceled, but am not sure it they followed through.

I'm sure glad I found this site.A collection agency called me and said I owe $380 on my capital one credit card.I tell them I'll pay it in full and they give me this number 866-365-7685 in case I need to make changes or have questions.I called it today and got the directory service message with the 101 515 8000 number.I guess I'll find out if I get billed on the next statement.I called Qwest and had them look up both numbers and they told me they appear to be bogus.

I think lauren - 9 Apr 2008 is pretty close. I called a fitness company (Stamina) for some replacement parts and got redirected to the 101 number. My assumption is their phone system was hacked or they're getting a kickback on redirects. Unsavory to say the least, particularly as the company, always prompt with emails, couldn't / wouldn't respond to emails for several weeks prior to the re-direct.

Oh, and Verizon can add a "cramming block" to your bill. I assume the other carriers offer that as well.

    Hey people,
I have been harassed and bombarded with calls for several weeks, any hour of the day or night. I hang up and they call back immediately. At least 50 calls driving me batty. These calls were in Spanish, I don't understand or speak the langusge. The phone company would do nothing, I threatened to sue. Got an officer from our local law enforcement agency to listen to the tape but he told me nothing, not even a phone number.  I made a personal visit and met with one in charge who understood the stress I was under and he got on the job immediately. The calls stopped and after getting the number of calling 10,the gal hung up when I started asking questions. All I know is the people who committed these acts should be held responsible. I'm seriously thinking of turning it over to my attorney. I got a partial number of the origin of the calls which was Miami, stands to reason.

We questioned Verizon when a charge for $7.50 showed up on our phone bill. They removed the charge but stated by law they had to charge us for this third party service. I filed a complaint with the FTC at http://www.ftc.gov click on Consumer Complaint link and fillout the 6 short steps. It was very easy and maybe if enough people file a complaint they will put this crook out of business. Hope this helps.

This is a little different.  Our company received a Lease Card with a toll-free number to activate it.  When I called that number I heard the same recordings; call 10-15-15-8000 for a national directory.  However, the toll free number is for a legitimate business.  I found the legitimate business' web site, which lists another number.  I called them and reported that it appears their other number has been somehow hacked.

    shut up people!!!
OK FIRST OFF!! to use the service someone may of been looking for an 800 number like many of u people were doing!!! NOW if that number was changed or disconnected a pre-recorded message will come on the line telling the caller if you want the new number you have to dial 10-15-15-8000 or 10-10-27-5000. after hearing that message the caller has to hang up and dial one of those numbers. so its ur choice if you wanna be charged!! and if it says anything about a fee isn't that ur first clue to hang up??!!! and if anyone here mentioned that if you call the company its THERE POLICY TO ISSUE U A FULL REFUND!!!!!! so u get every penny back even if u used the service and its not re-accuring its like a 411!!!! so everyone here thats complainging about the service should read this and shut ur pie holes and call the company cuz they give u ur money back. and if everyone wasn't so cheap u wouldn't get worked up over $5??? like r u people serious?? wtf?? wut has the world come to and the sad part is again u get every penny back. and  i wud no everything im saying is correct cuz i work for the company and its sick to see wut u guys say about it

    and again!!
You people think your phone company has nothing to do with it!!!! There lying!!! The service is a third party billing provider so for it to appear on your phone bill your company has to approve it and they all say well I don't know what it is call etc... It's cuz they can't tell you anything or they'll get in trouble!!! They don't want their customers to know that this charge can appear on the phone bill and they'll do nothing about it cuz there making more money. So maybe everyone here should think about that

I had a charge of $620 on my credit card from something called  Rlioo Collection.  I called my bank, Wells Fargo, to find out what it was for, and all they could do was give me a phone number that was attached to that charge  - 877 822 5050.  When I call that, guess what? - I get the message to call 1015158000 for a small fee!

800-605-8440 missed call showed on my Verizon cellular phone at approximately 15.03 hrs EDT 19 August 2004.

Since this is my business mobile telephone I called the 800 number back where I found an automated message about some directory assistance service for upwards of $5 US per call or minute and suggesting I call 101515800 . . . No, I was not dum enough to call the 101515800 . . .

How do we stop these types of calls?

I too called the cancelation line for Wu-yi source tea.  after reading many complains against the company about not canceling peoples orders and charging them for countless months. I called the cancelation number on the order confirmation form and it directed me to this same 101515800 number.  I look them up on the web and found out that they are directory assitance for navada and for a charge they would lead me to the address or phone number i needed. now i cant cancel my order unless i pay more money, this dosent make sense

I received my phone bill and a charge for OAN at $7.57 was on it.  It said directory assistance was used to call 101 515 8000 at 11:15 am.  This is funny since my husband and I both work and could not have made the call.  I called the number on the phone bill 800-731-7777 but got nothing but a static sound.  I then called 800-892-8424 and actually got a real person.  She told me it is a Nevada directory assistance for an 800 number that was no longer in servise.  I explained that I never made the call and was told that my bill will be credited within the next two billing cycles.  I guess this goes to show you that you need to check out every line on every bill.  After all this could add up.  What a scam!  Like I would pay $5.00 for someone to look up a number for me in this day and age!!!!

I got a call which I screened saying it was Citibank and that I hadn't registered the new credit card they had sent me. I only have two credit cards and neither is a Citibank. I called 1 800 950 5154, supposedly the Citibank national number. I got a recording that it had been changed to 10 15 15 8000 and mentioned something about a $5.49 charge. When I heard the 10 15 15  number, it triggered my memory to an alert we had at work that was posted warning that this is a slamming scam. If you call it, they change your long distance service to theirs. I reported it to AT & T and did not call the number.
