We've gotten 4 calls from this 123-456-7890.  We answered when the phone rang, but nobody said anything, so we just hung up.  This happened twice in the same day (this was a couple days ago) once in the afternoon and once in the evening.  Todaywe got another 2 phone calls, both in the afternoon.
This time, the minute we answered, we got no answer....just a dial tone??????

I got a call from that number today.   A guy in a thick Indian accent saying something about my computer having problems and needing to check it.    I just hung up.

told me that i needed to be in front of my pc

I hit the star button 7 times then the dial tone comes on.   Apparently, dialing computers take this as a kick the number out.    I got this call twice, once a week, the third week I did this and haven't gotten a call since.

I received a call from 123-456-7890 requesting that I boot up my computer for help - re slow boot ups.  Not true.   They also had all my personal information which I find problematic.

Who are these people.

The call (as listed in the title of this area) DOES NOT EXIST!
This shows the area code as 123 - and is not a valid area code!
The ONLY way to get this to show up, is by a method of SPOOFING, which is now fully illegal in the USA with the new "Truth in Caller ID" law that has been passed.
It is also illegal in Canada, for telemarketers to display a number that cannot be called back.

What we need to do, is flood the regulating bodies with complaints, until something gets done about it!

Just got a call from this number for the first time. Left no message on answering machine

I received a call from 1-123-456-7896 when i picked up it was a man on the other end of the line. He asked me if I was Mr. Jacobs and I answered "yes what can I do for you?" He then told me that I was being charged with forgery and that I would be receiving a court summons in the mail. I asked what he was talking about and to please explain. He said that he would have the summons sent in the mail and that I would need to appear in court. This kinda freaked me out but I am not sure weather they were serious or not. the Caller ID said "Security Screen" when the phone rang. They also called my house at 1am... Everything seemed a little off and odd but it was enough to worry me as I was kinda freaked out that someone would call my house at 1am. These calls seem to be on the increase.  I really wish they would stop.  Any advice on how to stop them would be appreciated.  Currently, we just don't answer.

Idiots have been calling and never anyone on the line... hang on and keep saying hello in hope of someone there to cuss out and insult to no avail.  Oddly enough, have also been getting 1/2 ring calls in early morning coinciding with these (same days).. either for my phones (multi-unit w/one base) or my phone company, the phone needs to ring one full time to register anything on the caller ID, so don't get to see where the 1/2 rings are coming from at 6am, 6:15, 6:30 etc...

Just so everybody is clear about these National Do Not Call lists... They do not make it so NO telemarketers can call you.  They only make it so companies you have NO DEALINGS WITH can not contact you.  If you have a credit card, the credit card companies can call you.  If you have a cell phone, your cell phone carrier can still contact you.  If you have a home phone, internet, or anything else, THOSE COMPANIES CAN STILL CONTACT YOU!!!  The only way to prevent contact from THOSE companies is to POLITELY request that you be added to their individual do not call lists, and wait PATIENTLY for a confirmation number that you have in fact been added to their list. If a telemarketer refuses to give you a confirmation number, or gives you some excuse of "we'll add you later", remind them that they are breaking the law and MUST provide you with a confirmation number NOW.  It's stunts like that that got Bell fined so heavily.
HOWEVER, you need to keep in mind that it doesn't work immediately. It can take up to 30 days for management to "scrub" the lists of all of the Do Not Call requests.  So simply mark on your calendar when you made the request, the name of the company and the confirmation number.

This number showed up on my phone this morning (02/16/2011)  They told me that I needed to take my phone and sit infront of my computer because I had a faulty program sent to me via email and they were going to help me work thru it.

just got a call from that #. it was just music. didn't give them a chance to come on with their bs.

2 or 3 calls coming every day. No message left on answering machine, unknown caller shown on answering machine.

This number called me and it was a woman with an accent trying to tell me that there is something wrong with my computer that it was going to crash and it was sending out virus's. She tried to lure me onto my computer to fix it. I told her I used to work for Bell sympatico tech support and I know my computer is fine and she hung up
