I still can't understand how anyone trying to make any sort of money goes through these routines of bogus phones and then hang up. It's one thing if we hangup on them but when they hangup on us when answering is beyond me.
I've heard that sometimes it's a computer (autodialer) looking for active numbers. If they score someone will cal back later with their legit (although still a scam) phone call.
I wish people would get real jobs

This number calls my cell phone frequently attempting to get credit card infomation. They claim I've purchased items from them before and want to know if I want a refill.  IT's credit card scam so be very aware of it, Do not give any info and if you have the ability to block the number, you should do so

Got a call today from 123-456-7890 (what an odd number).  They asked for my husband by name.  Then they asked me if I was Mrs. _____.  I honestly aswered them with a NO since I never changed my name.   The guy on the line said he was calling from some computer company and then asked if I had a computer.  I told him that I was not Mr or Mrs. ______ and to remove my number immediately.  He tried to continue speaking but I hung up on him.  I'm sure I'll here from someone at this number again...perhaps with a lighter accent.  I have a feeling this call originated from Asia.

On your phone, go to Settings, Select Call, Then Select Auto reject. Type in the number and it will automatically reject that call every time it comes in.

1-123-456-789 called our new phone today after having it for one week. Didn't dare to answer due to the Not Available for the name of who was calling. Then, I realized how strange the number was and looked it up.

I would look up the CRTC website, and search there.  May not be much they can do about it, since it likely does not originate in Canada.  Another thought...contact the FCC in the US and see if Canadians can register complaints with them as well (truth in caller id law).

Short of that, set your computer up like I did, with the FREE PhoneTray software to "filter" calls.  Messages can be "caller specific".

It doesn't matter if you're registered. I just called the DNCL hotline to report the # (as I am registered on the list and have been since it was available) and I was told this:

They use the 123 # because it's encrypted and untraceable. It is not just one 'scammer' using the #, it's several (again because it's untraceable). Therefore there is nothing the DNCL can do to block this # unless the people calling give you enough information that, when reported to the DNCL hotline, it provides enough info for them to trace where the # is coming from. I was told they get calls about this # everyday. I was told it would be best not to pick up the phone, but if you do, get as much info from them (not the other way around) about the company, and call the DNCL so it can be investigated. Otherwise, another option would be to call PhoneBusters and report the # there.

They called twice today, within 2 hours. Callerid says that odd phone number but "Unknown Name".  First time, he identified himself as a computer care company that wanted to help me with my computer. I guess he didn't like my tone of voice so he hung up. Second caller...same line but slightly different asian voice with call centre noise in the background. I said that they had just called. He said it was the first call to us today. Then he insists  a couple of times on wanting to help me with my computer problem. I finally had to yell "NO" before he got the message. He thanked me very much for my time and wished me a good day????

According to Bell Canada, this number is used to fraudulently call you through the internet (Skype, etc.).  Bell Canada also states that you cannot directly dial this number from a land line or cell phone which is why they use Skype or such internet phone services.

Use a call blocking feature either in your phone system or through your phone supplier (Bell, etc.)

    YID?
When they called I think they spoke Yiddish? I have a friend who knows Yiddish and he said it was this: איר פאַקינג קאַנט, וואַשן דיין טאָכעס. He says that translates into: You ƒü©king çúñ†, wash åss (Not with the symbols).

Received a call at 11:00MDT - said he was from "On-line Computer help".  I have heard of these scammers in the past and hung up.  Beware they just want access to your computer.  With tax time approaching, many folks have their information on computers and they are likely trying to invade your privacy.

Very strong accent, obviously originating from a foreign company.

This was what they said when I answered. I live in Ontario Canada. This number has called before and I always ignore it. But today it had called 4 times. So I got sick of it and decided to answer. A man with a heavy accent said he was calling about my computer, then he said do you have a computer. I said "do not call again, take my number off your list and never call this number again" then I hung up. It's annoying, I mean, come on..... it was the 4th time in one day, give me a break

This number called my house 8 times today and left no message, unbelievable.  Is this all that technology has brought to our lives?  Harassment at home by cowards?  Wish they would knock on the door, then I could explain my position much, much clearer.

This call showed up as unknown name and when I answered there was nobody there.  Next time I shall let it go to the answering machine.  What caught my attention was the sequence of numbers.
