I just called the 800 number that Babs gave us.  I had the same experience.  Very professiona.  Now I need to capture the other 25 companies that are bombarding me with daily phone call and tell them to CALL OFF THE DOGS!

Constantly getting calls from these people, which others have identified as Dial America.  I used to subscribe to a magazine through them, so part of the profit will go to the charity they represent, but I've told them since that I end up not reading the magazine so it's a waste of money and resources.  The guy tried to convince me to buy one anyway, for the charity, which annoyed me because it's ludicrous to waste resources on something I'm not going to read and they don't carry the industry-specific magazines I actually do read.  Apparently, these people don't take "no, thank you" easily because they continue calling me.  Repeatedly.  My call-blocker disconnects them, but not until the phone rings once or twice.  You'd think they'd get the hint when the call never goes through but nooooo.

I sent DialAmerica a rather scathing email to complain about the repeated, often daily - and sometimes multiple times a day - phone calls after I previously told them I wasn't interested in purchasing a magazine I wasn't going to read, and being pressured to buy one of their salespeople to buy one anyway.  On Monday, I received a polite email response from them, saying:

"This letter confirms your recent request to have your name removed from our calling list.
"We have included your name on our "do not promote" file. This will insure that you receive no further calls from Dialamerica. We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused and for also not handling your initial request."

Ironically - or not - I received yet ANOTHER call from them at 5:07 pm that same day.  So much for "no further calls" from them.  I'm hoping the woman simply forgot to mention that it will take x amount of days for my info to be purged from their system.  If not...

They call every day, several times a day, I don't answer it.  I know it's for magazines.  I dealt with them a year ago and the woman I was on the phone with at that time was very pushy and annoying.  And at that time, I did renew a subscription to a magazine I already was getting, but they went and put it in for way more than the price she quoted on the phone.  So either it was a mistake or they rip you off intentionally.  Not sure.  I'm not doing business with them again.

Please, please and again please stop calling me I'm sick of it.

I am on the DNC registry as well, but as a charity they don't have to abide.  I have been receiving numerous calls daily from them, but never answered the phone and they never leave messages.  Today I intentionally answered and before the guy could even begin his pitch, I told him emphatically to stop calling my home.  We'll see if it works.

I keep getting these calls and I am also on a do not call list.

I'm tired of receiving calls from these people & I've asked to be removed but no luck. I have a slew of other charities that I give to but will NEVER give to anyone who calls & calls & calls.

As mentioned several times in this thread, the Do Not Call registry applies only to *SALES CALLS*. The controlling laws for those are the TCPA and the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Here is the FTC FAQ page which the DNC site repeatedly invited you all to read before you registered your numbers.

Dial America treads on gray area when it sells periodicals for a charity purpose. It must as a commercial fundraiser add your number to its internal no-call list on demand. Coverage under TSR and TCPA is possible when an otherwise exempt call facilitates a sales purpose. That's a question for legal research.

In a comment from Nov 2012 linked below, find the simple steps I took to rid myself of a competing charity beggar by politely rubbing its face in federal laws. You will note that I never rely on verbal cease-communication demands.

I rarely answer any call from unknowns so I didn't realize that this was Dial America. Thanks to Babs for a number to remove myself from their list.

12013738322 this number calls my house very night between 6 and 9 pm , getting sick of it comcast answer was a spoof , FCC I filled out a form complaint and nothing where is our gov . Why don't you protect the people not tell them what they can and can

Dial America keeps calling and not answering when I do . This is a pain in the butt . I would love to talk to them and they would not like what they hear .

This number showed up in my caller ID about  5 times while we were away on vacation. Time to block!

if you google Dial America you will find they are a telemarketing group for all kinds of things.  Since they call non-stop and NEVER leave a message they are now blocked   TELEMARKERTER
