I keep getting calls from 202-222-2222 every about the same time around three to four PM

Block them

On 2/20/2015@ 5:12pm I received a call from 2027777777!!!!! Shortly, thereafter, my phone was disconnected. The interruption in service was not performed by my mobile carrier. They are hackers and this number should be reported to the FBI!!!!!!!

I just received a call from this number.  They claim that the US government has chosen me and 1,500 other people to receive $9,000 because we paid our taxes on time and did not file for bankruptcy.  It is a complete scam.  I wish I could block them but they're calling me at work.  When will these ever end?!

They call every day , How do you block this number on a cell phone ? ? ?

I just answer the phone saying its my local police department and they hang up real quick.

It seems that once you enter your phone number on various internet websites you're inundated with calls from unwanted callers.  Especially internet job and continuing education websites, only to name a few.  Pitiful!!!!!

I have had several of my family contacted in regards to collections on my wife.  Happens two or three times a year every year for the past two years.  They are all scams.  I have gleaned helpful info from posts on 800notes.com and other such sites and I want to pass it on in hopes that others will benefit.

I have created and given the following script to my family in the event they should get more calls;

“Yes I know him/her but this is not a number he/she can be reached at, please remove it from your records and do not call here again.  In regards to your presumed claim, if it is legitimate then you should already have his/her address on file to send him/her a "validation notice" per FTC regulations and I’m sure he/ she will respond.  Any further calls to this number in regards to this matter or any other matter will be reported to my local Sheriffs dept; my state attorney general’s office and The Federal Trade Commission.”

Then politely end the call.

Also the FTC and CFPB have material at the following sites so you can do more research on US federal collection law it is highly recommended that you educate yourself to handle these matters wither they are legitimate collection agencies or scammers.

try an app called 'Trapcall'. If you get 'unknown' or 'no user id', it finds the #.  Then you can block it. Supposedly on National Do Not Call list.  Called and put my # in again!

Leaving a message here on a public forum, does not stop anything.
Invest in a call blocker for your land line. $39 on amazon or ebay.
My call blocker stops all calls from area code 202. Too simple.

replying to a message from 2013!

They told me I was selected to receive 9,000 from the govt. for being a good citizen. Asked me some questions which I then asked if I can get in trouble for lying about my answers. He paused try to say something and hung up.

These people have called at least once a day for a week.  Most of the time, when I ask who they represent, they hang up. The last call was this morning and they said they were a federal grant foundation---SCAM ALERT---SCAM ALERT!!!

If your phone has the option block the number.  That's what I have done to many of these kind of numbers

Got call from 2022222222. Called was asked what listing i would like.  Scam all the way around. Dont answer these numbers.

A guy asked for me by first name. Sounded like he read from a script. He said  I qualify for an $8k federal grant to use any way I chose. (I dont qualify and never will qualify...) But first, he needed to verify my address.. I asked nicely which survey company originated this call (as I did recently complete a few for which I am now sorry I did) He Hung up.

another bogus call - several in the last 30 minutes

so I got the phone call from this number today and I've been getting phone calls from random numbers and it keep blocking them but different numbers keep popping up now. Most of them are from the District of Columbia but this one today was the worst I've gotten. first time I've gotten a phone call from somebody saying that they're from the grants apartment and I have gotten a grant for $3000 I called my school immediately to find out if this was a legitimate thing. now I got the same kind of phone call but from this number and today I told him no I don't take anything from the District of Columbia. He said I'm in the US, and I said that's not what came up on my caller ID. I told him any of my grants go through my find the actual a department at my school and that he was more than welcome to talk to my financial Aid representative, then he got mad and kept going really really oh my god oh my god I said yeah you can talk to him that's what my school goes through for grant money.  he was getting really mad and I told him I know this is a scam it to stop calling me and never call me back again and then he started calling me a f****** [***] he kept screaming you f****** [***] over the phone to me and screaming inappropriate things he wouldn't hang up and I was waiting for him to get off the line. I just kept saying quit calling me never call me again never call this number ever he finally hung up when I threatened to report him.
