It depends how you have it set up to do the code-you can either have it done by call or by SMS (i.e. text). If you have it set up for text, it shouldn't be doing voicemail

The 202 number is part of Google Gmail two-stage verification when logging into a Google account. The six digit number is the code you would enter in after entering your Gmail password. If you did not set up two-stage verification, then I would contact Google in case someone was trying to set up an account using your name, or trying to hack into your account.

    It's a scam.

By entering those digits, you just authorized someone else to set up a Google Voice account tethered to your phone number (every GV account needs to reference a real phone number).    Here is the solution.

We've been noticing that a lot of Google Voice users have been falling for Craigslist scammers. We want to outline scenarios to watch out for and a few troubleshooting steps if you find yourself in this situation with regards to your Google Voice account.

A typical scamming scenario is as follows:

1.Google Voice user places high priced item on Craigslist for sale

2.Text message received by seller from potential buyer telling them they will need to enter a 2 digit code to speak with buyer about purchase

3.Buyer promptly calls seller and 2 digit number entered which is by “Thank you for setting up with Google Voice”

4.Seller’s number is now listed as a forwarding phone on the buyer’s account.
Now when other potential buyers contact the scammers number (on number other items they are scamming) they will be forwarded to your cell phone. You will not have access to this Google Voice account since you were not the one who set it up and “agreed” to have the calls forwarded to your account when you verified that two digit number.

What you can do if you find yourself in a situation where your mobile number is verified on another google voice account?

You will need to add it as a secondary forwarding phone on an already-configured google voice account. This means you will either have to add it as a second number on your Google Voice account or create a new account with an alternative mobile forwarding phone, then add your compromised forwarding phone

    Google account verification.

If anybody tried to use your phone number (erroneously) for their Google account, then the Google verification uses this number to call you with a verification code.

Just ignore it, no harm, no foul.

Unless you give that person the secret number that Google provided, they cannot do anything, and the transaction will expire within a few minutes.

I got a call from this number once, but I hooked up after I opened my cell and checked the number i received. Thinking it's a scam. I decided to checked it on Google, and it turns out I was right. If he continuously call you, I'd say scream in his ears, or use a blow horn if you have one. Scams like that are nothing but a piece of [***].

I keep getting calls from this number but they leave a voicemail with a numerical code, say thank you, and hang up. I am not calling them back. Sounds like someone trying a new tactic to scam.

I found this number is a verification call from GOOGLE VOICE.  When a person adds a forwarding number to their Google Voice account, (a number which will also ring when anybody calls their GV number), Google makes sure the person requesting the addition actually owns or has control over the forwarding number by showing a 2 digit validation code on the GV page and dialing the number asking whomever answers to enter the code shown.  Sometimes people enter the wrong forwarding number by mistake and Google will call the wrongly entered number anyway, seeking the validation code.  If you have no Google accounts and get an unsolicited call from this number, just hang up and you will probably never get another.
