- Phishing AttemptThis morning a thief called from 202-506-9461 saying he was a Michael Carter with the IRS and payment must be made immediately for thousands of dollars or an arrest would be made before the end of the day and the amount due would be doubled. Caller had a heavy accent.

- Call type: Debt collector
- AJ JohnsonPretty much same as all the other posts. Left a message 2 x's, heavy Indian accent & number was coming from District of Columbia on ID. Said he was looking for my husband, gave a tax ID number & that he shouldn't disregard this message. I was suspicious immediately since IRS NEVER calls anyone, and have you ever tried getting the IRS on the phone? Damn near impossible to actually talk to a fellow human! I called the number back, sounded like the same man, picked up immediately...AGAIN...IRS answering immediately~NOT! Told him he left a message for my husband, he stated to have HIM call back then hung up. Called from a different phone, went straight to VM. Called again from the previous phone, went straight to VM again, this time I left him a message & told him to F*** off you F***^** scammer! Called the non-emergency sheriff department, put me in touch with FBI Field office(took my name & address) who put me in touch with Treasury Inspector General Tax Integrity office in DC 800-366-4484. They are fully aware of this scam & hopefully will nail these SOB's.
- Caller: IRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- JohnHe's still at it. I just got a message for my wife stating there was an error on her income tax. .....she didn't have an income last year. lol. Single income home.
- SamSame number same story.
I take pity on him - YI received the same voicemail as everyone else. He called me by the abbreviated name which I put on things when i sign up for mailing lists. This was a huge red flag as the IRS would use my full legal name. Also he called on the saturday of a holiday weekend when the IRS would not be open. This is definitely a scam.
- TinaJust received call from David, he had heavy Indian accent. He stated he was with the IRS and he wanted the name of my lawyer to put on the litigation the IRS had filed against me. I told him I had not received anything in the mail and he said in was sent last week. He then proceeded to tell me that I would go to jail and that I could avoid all of this by sending a cashiers check in the amount of 8,300 dollars to a PO Box he rattled off. I told him to send information to me via mail and hung up. He immediately called back and said I could not ignore this and I would go to jail, I responded that he needed to send by mail and to never call this number again.
- Caller: Tax litigation from IRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- TonyGot a call from 202-506-9461 from Karen smith - strong Indian accent very unlikely a "smith". So another foreign scam to get you to pay money you do not owe. Call the govt office office and report them
- Caller: IRS- scam
- Call type: Prank
- BrendaI received two voice mail messages from this same number with the caller having a heavy middle east accent. I could not understand most of the message. Same thing - they wanted my tax attorney's information. They had a reference number and told me not to ignore their message. I called the number back and a woman answered. She said if I did not comply with her request, she would have the sheriff serve me. I told her to bring it on! I did call my accountant and let him know. He said he has had eight identity thefts with his filings this year. Be careful out there. I just hope it doesn't happen to any of our older parents or grandparents.
- DonnaSame info here. Same call from Mark Dawson/same number.
- B| 1 replyCaller has left 3 voicemails using my name claiming there is a discrepancy with my taxes, and stating I or my attorney must call immediately to avoid tax litigation. I am not calling back, this is a scam. IRS would send postal mail.

- AnnieGot a recorded message on my phone, named Alex Clark from Tax litigation Department, even gave me a reference number. Told me to call back before a legal action is taken against me. Lucky me that I searched and found this place. I was really taken back at first. Indian accent, I listened to it at least 3, 4 times.

- Jaime T| 2 repliesReceived the call a few hours ago. "Alex Clark" claimed that there was a deficiency in our income tax statement filed to the IRS and asked several times for the name and phone number of my attorney, which I did not provide. He then gave Michael Carter's phone number (202) 506-9461, apparently the agent assigned to the case The actual caller was Alex Clark: Employee ID: 190-931-7215
