the female caller said I was eligible for a $1500 Government grant and all I had to do was give them my bank information and they would transfer it into my account. They call all hours of the day and night and have asked them several times to take my number off their list.. Guess since they can't speak proper english that they don't understand not to call anymore. If there's anything I can do to stop this I would appreciate the info

I must have gotten the same [***] that you did.  All he wanted to do was argue, and when I kept hanging up on him, he kept calling and calling.  Ironically enough, I DO work for the police dept, and the number he was calling is my office number.  I told him it was the police department, and he even wanted to argue about that.  I finally got one of our officers on the phone with him, and after the officer kept asking him what government office he was with, he finally gave up and told the officer that HE was under arrest.  LOL

Got call from this number in DC, saying that I won $8500 in Grant money.
I said, "That's funny, I don't remember applying for a grant." After that, they hung up.
This is a scam. Even if you applied for a grant, the person on the other side will be speaking better English than this scam artist did.

Call blocker might be of some help.  Also don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize, or where there are caller IDs that seem odd.  Or where there is no caller ID.  There’s  no way to stop the calls from being initiated.  Calls originate in India and pakistan

I just received another phone call about the same US Federal Government Grants for Education and I'm wrong about the FBI saying it's a scam. He just kept telling well I must have messed up something or got my information wrong. When I told him  I know which state he was calling from he admitted that much, but it's because he works for  the Federal Grants Dept. I am so tired of them using multiple numbers even using my own area code.

Got a call from this number today saying the were from the us gov grants dept and i won a $8,500.00 grant. They already had my address but nothing more. They gave another number 202-241-2938, they threaten you saying  if you hang up they will post your number on the internet. My suggestion don't answer if you do not know it.

Claimed to be the US FEDERAL DEPARTMENT.  There is no such department. I know since I spent 14 years under the DOD as active duty military and I know prety much all branches departments and agencies. When told him so he said that I was from California qnd that is why I  ever heard of it. I guess he was saying people from California are stupid. I reported this number to the locl FBI field ofice. Doubt it will go anywhere but one can dream.

They've called me multiple times, but this last one is what caused me to do more research and led me to this site..... This lady with a strong accent said she was from the US Government and advised me that I qualified for a grant and I could use the money to payoff or buy whatever I want..... I asked her what was the catch and she gave me a long pause. So, I asked her did she know what that term meant? Then she became extremely insulted, said yes and mumbled something under her breathe and hung up on me.... Clearly they're scam artist with bad tempers. Hopefully they get caught and locked up.

To report the fraud, go here:

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.
