Calls can't be traced with any technology that I'm aware of.   Even if you could trace the call to a call center in India or Pakistan. what good would it do?   The US has no jurisdiction and the local governments do little if anything to combat this kind of fraud.  Call blocker is your best bet.

I ignored the call as I don't know anyone from the DC area. It went to voice mail. The message was that I could get arrested for tax evasion if I don't call back.

A friend who is an accountant knows people who work for the IRS. I gave him the phone num,ber with a copy of the voice message. He will forward it on to the people that he knows.

I got the same call about the tax evasion from Officer Melvin Becket 202-684-6608.
He left a message on my voicemail on 4-10-15

Received a call from this number @ 10:58 A.M. CT. I didn't answer, and they left no message.

I received a call from phone number 202-684-6608 from Washington DC leaving a voice mail message that said I had
A tax evasion case against me from the IRS. Told me to call back.  When I called back he started the conversation by asking me if I had a lawyer who could represent me.  I asked him why would I need a lawyer if I had no idea what this case/call was all about.  They make this calls seem very real, he gave me his name as Michael Brown, badge #8975321 in none the less a very thick accent.

He said I have tried to defraud the IRS from 2008 to 2012 in the amount of $2,345.00 and when I called his bluff he told me he would mail paperwork to my home address.  At that point I asked if he had the address, which he did have my correct address.  All this is seemed very real to me at the time I was talking to this person.  However, I had that gut feeling you get when somethin isn't right.  CERTAINLY A SCAM.

Someone call me with indian accent  with tax hoax.

This number just called and left message..... Supposedly the IRS wanting us to call back before they file against us for tax evasion. 1. We file every year early at that and 2. Everyone SHOULD know that the IRS doesn't call with out sending notification by mail first, but someone always falls for this stuff every time. I laughed and said good luck when I heard the message

Received a call from a man with an Arabic accent on 4/13/15 (he left a voice-mail)stating that he was an officer with the IRS (name sounded like Melon Batchet?)  That they have a legal position against us for tax evasion and that we could be arrested.  Typed number in and got this website.  Sounds like they are using any scam they can think of.  I suppose fear may be a good motivator, but we aren't rich and are not evading our taxes so not going to call back (duh).

Just got same message to be put in jail if I didn't call back. Melvin Blachet office of IRS. I called back he answered I hung up. I will call back and tell him that I am in the areaof Washington D.C. visting Obama. Me and the president would love to have lunch with you tomorrow at noon at Denny's.LOL!!!

Scam Call from company claiming to be the Internal Revenue Service

Received the same call from Officer Melvin Brown - asked for his address (Constition Avenue in Washington DC) and asked for his supervisor's name - he gave me my 72 year-old neighbor's name and phone number!!!! Told him I would be speaking to his supervisor as he lived down the block from me and he hung up.  I agree - the call is very well delivered and must be frightening to less ocnfident individuals.

this moron called me too, I am not worried about it as he had such a thick accent,used unprofessional speech, and displayed a general lack of intelligence ((obviously he's a nut case)), I am more worried about elderly people who may be frightened by this idiot..why cant anyone prosecute him for phone fraud scams? I don't answer my phone unless its my husband calling,so we are just playing and replaying this nuts message because he sounds so stupid its funny..."you will have to go to the courthouse, and be put in jail" yeah right idiot!

202.684.6608 made its way to chicago IL ... I will be reporting him on the gov website as he stated in his thick arbic accent that he was officer Melvin Thatcher with the IRS and if I dont call him back at 202.684.6608 I will go to Jail..

This my 2nd phone call from IRS Scams & I have put my phone number all over those blocked lists but all we can do is report it and hopefully someone will investigate them

Just got a message from Officer Melton on my phone threatening jail time for tax evasion. Told to call 202-684-6608 to speak with Officer Melton. I immediately looked up the number on the internet which brought me to this website. I had also heard on our News that the I.R.S. will never contact a person by phone. I will not be calling him back but I did report it to the I.R.S.

The guy left a message about tax evasion, left the number 1-202-684-6608. Claimed if I didn't resolve this I would go to jail for five years with fines of 56,000 and lose my job. The message said Melvin Thatcher, and the same Arab guy answered and said Officer Daniel Jackson of the I.R.S.. What a [***].

Had a call saying I was going to be arrested for tax evasion. All bogus! They should be arrested!

I too got a call/message from 202-684-6608.  He said he was from the IRS and I was being charged and possibly arrested for tax evasion.  Name given was officer Melvin Blanchard (SIC).  When I called back asking for some confirmation that he was with IRS he threatened to have the police arrest me.  After checking online for this number and reading all the postings I called him back and told him his number was all over the internet pointiing to a scam.  His response was  *F*** y**! "  That really confirmed his identity!
