I received this call at work. The caller ID said "Washington D.C." I did not answer and received the same voicemail stating a case number and that myself or my attorney should call back immediately. They also stated, "Good Luck" if I do not return their cal!!

Scam for sure, I called the number back and no one answered.  Don't get sucked into anything, these people have no souls.

Voicemail says some case# filed against me.  Do not ignore.  Call or have attorney call immediately as this number.  If you do not call, I can only wish you good luck as this totally unfolds against you.

got the same recording on 1 15 2016.

pretty much thought it was a scam and didn't call it back as I feared they would charge the call to my phone like those 1 900 numbers.
if the cops fbi or the irs wants you they don't call you on the phone. they show up with badges

Received the same call on my cell tonight. Funny how they are threatening me that I better have my atty call them back, they called from a 202 area code which is D.C. and then tell me to call a 913 number back which is Kansas. Ok I will get right on that. Not so much.

I received the same message from this number.   Even though it didn't make sense I was alarmed.  I returned the call, the phone just rings.  Scam. Blocking the number.

Hi Michelle - I was recently targeted by the human scammers at that number saying they were from IRS audit dpt. It was upsetting but I decided that since the woman's English was only so-so, and she was unprofessional, and the IRS would send a registered letter instead of calling at odd ours it was probably a scam. The number on google even tracked back to 'IRS', the caller id said it was 'US Govt' so it is no wonder that 450,000 people (at least according to google) have fallen victim to this scam. I did some more research and the address attached to the phone number goes back to a building occupied by a marketing firm. I reported the number and the call to the Treasury Inspector General for the IRS at TIGTA.gov. I encourage you to do the same. It happened again via robo-call with the exact same message that you got. This one came from Washington DC and is the 202-899-9017 number you also got a call from. If you are concerned, call or visit your local IRS office. And please fill out a report at TIGTA.gov so they can track these and hopefully shut them down before they scam our seniors.

I received a message from this number saying I was brought up with criminal charges from IRS.

How many over 30,000 reports for the IRS scam will it take to make people understand it is a scam?  The numbers change but the scam is still a scam!    It's been all over the news, AARP, you name it and people keep falling for it.  Don't answer the phone if you don't know who is calling and never give out personal information to anyone.  If something sounds too good to be true, more than likely it is.

Said a criminal case against me, gave a case number (ch76295).  Said to have my attorney call the number.

That this was an urgent message that a criminal case had been filed against me and that i needed to call them back or have my attorney call them back and if i did not respond then they wished me good luck. They had a case # starting with "ch" and a different # then the one that called to call them back on. It went by too fast to write down and they never repeated any info... Complete crap and i am on the "do not call list"

left a voice mail stating "Do not Disregard" Needs a call from my attorney and if I did not call they could only Wish me Luck!

Got the same call as everyone. Automated and said my lawyer should contact them, Washington DC,  202-899-9017. The beginning of the message broke up, I could hardly hear them. I just erased the message.
If it was so important I would have gotten a registered letter.

Received the call today... maybe Indian or Spanish accent...
Is there a way to stop these annoying calls?

Got the same recorded message on my home phone. Thinking of calling back and telling them I'm recording the call and that I AM from the irs...even tho I'm not.

Not much anyone can do about these calls.  Originate in India and Pakistan.  Call blocker might help.  ALso do not pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.

Callers are hard core Indian and Pakistani scammer/extortionists and ignore all US laws.  Invest in a call blocker and do not pick up on numbers you do not recognize.

Invest in a call blocker and do NOT pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.  There's no way to stop the calls from being initiated.  Originates in India and Pakistan and they just spoof existing US numbers.

Best not to call them back.  They become extremely abusive when they find their scams are not working.
