I think this is the best advice concerning this number I have seen on all six pages..... Keep calling your phone company, government agencies and politicians so we can stop these guys.

Its not the church or schoool doing this and could equally well be your own number fraudulently being used so watch out!!

got a call from 203-372-4819 and they just hung up.
this is weird that other people have also received hang ups from this number. I researched the number on yellow pages.com and it says that it's a school but when I called it, a recording said that the number is not in service.

I have had this number call several times. And the same thing, with no body on the other line. It is getting very annoying for them to keep calling over and over. And It seems to be a school for some reason. I wish Ontarion would come up with an option for us to call in and have these numbers blocked.

I didn't pick it up, they left a message -- Teresa MacDonald from the Business Funding Centre, apparantly (clearly a recording), about funding small businesses in Canada. The number she gave to call back was 613-686-1157, which is another trouble number listed on 800notes. Can't wait until that do not call list starts up!!!

The guy's name behind this scam is Mark Byrne (could be an alias).  His 'office' is located at 1500 Bank Street, Suite 425, Ottawa, Ontario K1H 1B8 (a strip mall) and he is operating as 'Small Business Funding'.  The scam works like this: He spoofs (forges) his Caller Identification (CID) number to display '(203) 372-4819' which reverse-traces to St-Andrew's Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA.  In reality, his real phone number is (613) 686-1157 and he uses a call centre at (800) 663-8525 and another in Lachine, Quebec with a fax (514) 633-8974 to answer his incoming calls.

If you receive a phone call from this scumbag, simply provide the aforementioned information to the Ontario Provincial Police and request that they lay criminal charges against Mr. Byrne (or whatever his real name is) as spoofing or forging a CID number in Canada is a criminal offense.

0044 suggests it's out of the United Kingdom. Received call from the same number today. No idea.

I filed a complaint through the CRTC's website today. We've been getting these calls on and off all summer. We are on a do not call list, and I have attempted to block the # but bell's voice recording says it can't be blocked, probably because it's spoofed.

Please find the information from a complaint website below explanatory. As it has been a police matter since the whole mess started at the end of June, the only thing I can do is apologize for the inconvenience.

This phone spammer/con men are spoofing this church's phone number. Poor people. The dialing system will hang up if you answer the phone. They want to go to voice mail to leave their pitch - to help you find unknown government funding. For a fee of course - or you banking information.

I have no idea how to get these vultures. I have complained down the phone line several times and no one seems to know how to trace these guys.

Call came in about 8 pm to our office phone Aug 27 2008. They seem to hit us about once a week or two.

Why can't the Internet cops get these guys?

got the call just a minute ago.  I answered in french and then someone went Hello... and line was dead.

I too am getting calls from this number and somehow they are able to by-pass my answering machine. Last night it rang in excess of 14 times until i picked up and replaced the receiver immed. without answering. Most irritating.

Yeah, I got it too today (I'm from Montreal). I heard silence...and hung up.

This guy has been calling often , a pre-recorded message, says he is working for the : "Centre d'aide au financement des entreprises", calls usually at night, impale him

I've been getting calls from this number for the past year or so. Sometimes it's dead air, sometimes the recorded message about small business funds. Sometimes it's English. Sometimes it's French. I thought it was perhaps because my home phone number used to be registered as a small business contact number... but after reading these comments it seems pretty much everyone's getting targeted.

It's driving me crazy. Has anyone figured out how to stop/report them?
