Thank you for posting this ... I almost bought into this scam when I posted a children's toy on craigslist. I thought it sounded weird when they wanted to add a "shippers fee" to the certified check and that I had to wire the money. You saved me a lot of trouble.

I received the same message in response to a craigslist posting:

Ya I got one from a "Mariah Ishmael" from the same phone number on my craigslist post. Whenever I asked them questions about where they are from or how the "shipping" would work, they ignored them.

Definitely smells like scam.

A  Jerry Kay called me to ship him 400 hamburgers via his shipping company.  He called thru a deaf telephone service.  He was  extremely vague in what he wanted and how he wanted it shipped.  He was willing to pay an outragious  price for the burgers.  It sounded to good to be true and it not true!!!  It is a SCAM!!!! Save your money to help bail out the government.  At least you know up front they are crooks!!

I  got a craigslist scam from "rita jones" and sent her my address and name and phone number, i didnt realize she was a scammer until i looked this up afterwards, the least she would do is send me check and i cant rip it up right?

I posted an ad on Craigslist (9/23/09) for an antique ring and within 10 minutes I got "William" and he wants to pay by company check. Same crap, different response.

Got a letter concerning a Prof. David Mark and two kids who are coming from London for two months.  He wants a chef (me) to look out for the kids and cook at the house 20 hours a week, for x-amount.  He wants me to send a check to a furniture co. in Washington State...after I recieve a deposit for 2 weeks services.  Too good to be true...

Got an e-mail from Rita Jones asking to purchase an item listed on Craig's List.  Asked for my address, phone number, etc even though I was selling the item in a stare where I don't reside.  All very urgent, would use a business check, have her shipper pick it up, etc.  I googled her name on Crag's List and found all sorts of alerts.
The phone # she gave (on another e-mail) was from Renton, WA.

received email response from this [***] too! They wont answer to a phone call or show up in person and gave me some crap about she has very busy schedule so please send item overseas!!!!!!!

This number was given when I posted a room for rent.  The message I received reads..
