Yeah, I just got off the phone with this guy.  I figured it was scam.  And I started insulting him, asking how he lives with himself, how can he sleep at night being such a piece of [***] thief, etc.  Maybe a mistake on my part, because that definitely struck a nerve and he told me he was gonna show up at my house with a shotgun.  Should I alert the police?

Yep, and hopefully you are armed and live in a stand your ground state  because the police will never get there in time..

They're area code is in TX.  I don't live in TX.  Do you think they are really in TX?

I agree with BigA. These operations tend to be in India.

I did call the police.  The officer was really helpful and told me that I probably don't have anything to worry about, but to call if I notice anything suspicious.

I hope so.  I couldn't place the accent, but definitely not American.  I'll admit, it definitely freaked me out when he said he was gonna come shoot me.  I know they have my address because he recited it to me.  I just hate thieves and I got so worked up when I realized it was a scam.  

Received same call. The guy identified himself as Shawn White an officer of the IT'S criminal investigation dept. He was literally screaming at me and threatening me.I was preparing for a serious meeting when this call came in. I was extremely upset by all of the threats being thrown at me. Long story short, he demanded I confirm the last four numbers of my ssn. I was so shaken I said the numbers....once off the phone I realized what happened so I contacted my attorney, the police,  the credit bureau, the social security administration,any credit cards were immediately cancelled, my bank was notified as well.
Try and hide you piece of [***] thief. You are going to be caught and you will never victimize people like this again. In this instance you called the wrong woman with a law school education and extensive legal resources! Your threats, intimidation and thriving are significant crimes. The fact you did these things while impersonating a federal officer jumped YOUR crimes into a whole new stratosphere. I am now on a mission to see to it you are punished to the FULL extent of the law! I saved your voice message filled with threats and I know your voice. I may have had a momentary lapse in judgment but I assure you, I am extremely aware and in control now with a very good memory for detail. Your date with real federal officers is near Shawn White or whatever your name is!!!

I actually called the number back and the Foster guy first question to me after confirming my name was, are you Nigerian? then he went on to ask to give him my attorney's contact information because my name came up in a fraud investigation. He was sounding very rough and intimidating. My hubby started quizzing him on what he meant by fraud then he cut the line off.

hubby called back again and the first question this time is - 'how much do you have in your account?' hubby asked him on what the IRS has got to do with how much i got in my account and he said to answer his questions first before he can explain what the IRS has got to do with how much cash i can withdraw. Hubby said $10 and he cut the line off again.

Hubby called again and the foster guy didnt wait to confirm identity again. He sneered saying 'we have withdrawn all the money in your account, we withdrew $250 then he went on ranting and using the f*** word and saying to go back to my country (I have a foreign name ) then cut the line off again.

we called again and an automated voice mail said we had reached the maximum times we can call the number

Wondering why we called back continuously? we were having our fun at his expense, we knew he was fraud before we called the first time.

NB- someone else had called from supposed IRS with a California # 415 735 7108 a couple of hours before this.

Left me a message saying that I had 24 hours to call them back or have a lawyer call back.   I tried calling at the time on my lunch break since I didnt know what it could be about.  But never got an answer.

They called me before from a new york number.... they've scammed me for a $1000 last year trying to get $4400 from me saying that they were from the IRS and that i will be put into jail.  I didn't ask the right questions to alert myself that they were scamming me, but i did feel like something was wrong the way they played me.  By the time i figured it out it was already too late.  Now they have the nerve to call me again with a 210-888-8376 number using the same script leaving it on my voicemail.  Indian accent, and pretty sure its the origin aswell (no offense).  I'm pretty angry.... why can't anyone do anything about these con artists??? =(

Because most of these calls are coming from India and Pakistan. We have no jurisdiction there. Spoofed numbers make it hard to trace down the criminals and illegal callers as well.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Same as everyone else! Called back and told the guy I reported the number! Then I told him Good Luck!!

I got a call just like this scam if u can't even address me by name your not a cop. Plus I haven't even filed my taxes yet.

Fraud, What is with the accent!?!?!?

The scam call originates from overseas. The typical nations are Indian and Pakistan.
