    Not likely
These types of calls will never stop. The fact that they have been rampant for so many years proves it. The powers that be don't care enough to do anything about it. Let's face it, they are safe from such predators & it would probably cost them too much to track & prosecute all such criminals out there so honestly why would they care. Cost is often the bottom line. With all their resources, you would think they could easily track and deal with all these criminals practicing all forms of identity theft but again, it is so rampant and on such a grand scale, why would they. They're too busy collecting data on everyone else. Internet scammers and identity theft callers are small potatoes to them. I don't like it anymore than you do but it is a reality. Protect yourself as best you can. I personally have received multiple calls from this number as recent as today to a mobile business phone that I am required to leave a detailed voice greeting complete with name and company position, so these scamming filth now know my name if they didn't already. I am so thrilled. How ever since company upgraded from old flip phones to top of the line smart phones, I was able to use a block feature within the phone itself. Hopefully it will make some difference.

Received a robo-call from 212-465-9832 saying, in a very fast talking voice, that it was my last chance to lower my credit card rates.  I checked the area code and it supposedly originated in New York, so I called the number back twice.  Both times I received a recording that the number was not in service.  The call was NOT from a legitimate company for the following reasons

    1) I don't have a credit card, or debit card - period!
    2) I'm on the Do Not Call List which applies to landlines and cell phones - period!
    3) The number supposedly was "out of service."
    4) The message that the number was out of service, was NOT the message that Verizion Wireless uses.  It sounded more like an answering machine service.
    5) They used an automated caller and were not politically connected, nor were they a non-profit origination.

Regarding the Do Not Call list, that is a joke.  I have made several formal reports, and have yet to have a single one of them addressed.  It is not something that this current political administration will address at all.  Their addressing a DNCL complaint is less likely than getting a reduction in the national debt.

Good for you not falling for that.  the number being on the face of the card does NOT make it public as it is not published.  If the number was public, he would be able to get it himself.  Legitimate banks and cc companies already have your number as they issued it to you.

Got a call from this number.  Did not answer.  They left an automated message about lowering interest on credit card rates.  I suspect it's a scam.

212-465-9832 called  at 11:50 AM July 8, I did Not answer, instead, I called back later and received a recorded response, "this number no longer in service." I think the phone companies are in cahoots with these nuisance calls.

The do not call registry is a big joke. I have this one number been calling me for 6 years and I blocked it but they still call as I can see if they call. I have yelled at them, hung up on them, blew a whistle in the ear and there are setting there saying hello.
They have been reported to the DNC at least a hundred times and nothing done they just put it in the computer and more people can get your number from it.

Why do you expect scammers to obey the DNC registry? And why would scammers pay for the list (it's NOT free) when all they have to do is robo-dial? Your best bet is to just not answer.
