They are calling my cell phone, which is NEVER and I mean NEVER turned on.  The phone is simply to carry in the car for an emergency.  In the past three months, they have called my cell phone number daily, over 100 times, even though no message is left and the phone is never on.  Only so many ways to spell l-o-s-e-r.  I turned the phone on this morning to make sure the battery was charged and it began ringing - answered it and all I heard was a computer say "Good-bye".  This, the day after  Christmas.  Damn scammers.

Scam operation  probably run by two chinese females and a male and female american in New York, caller ID "Fed Res Bank"; claim that they are from Microsoft, and that they could remove error messages from my computer "for free" if I follow their instructions and press certain keys. To "prove they are legitimate" they claim to have my "Computer License ID from Microsoft". The female who called me appeared to be in a boiler room type call center, and would not give me the street address and a call back number of this "Microsoft" facility.

Was getting many missed calls at home from this number over a period of at least several weeks. i never pick up calls unless I recognize who is calling, and this number identifying as FED RES BANK N, is no exception. I just have the call go to the answering machine, and of course the scammers are not going to leave voice messages. I knew these calls were not being made by a valid business, so I finally came to this site, and now see what the scammers are hoping to achieve. Does any government agency really take any action against the perpetrators of these scams?  I doubt it.  I'm just going to block the number now.  What's unusual about these scammers is they are keeping this same number for a rather long period of time. Maybe they actually can be caught. Anyway, thank you all for your comments, some are quite amusing.  Unfortunately, for every one of us who recognize this as a scam, there is another person or persons who will fall for it.  What a shame.

I have received 17 calls from this number in the last 10 days. They call at all hours. I tried calling the number that was recorded by my phone and that number is the general number to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. When I answered the call it was from someone with an Indian accent saying they're from Microsoft.
First of all; FCC WHY ARE YOU NOT DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS? There must be a way for you to trace these calls.
Secondly : FEDERAL RESERVE BANK/MICROSOFT: Why aren't you complaining about this to the FCC? The American Public

PHONE SCAMMER: Hello, James. I am calling from Windows technical....[thick Indian accent garble]...[blah blah blah]
ME: Oh goooooooood! My computer has been giving me so much problems. I need your help.
SCAMMER: Oh, really? Oh my goodness. Well, let's see if I can help.
ME: Of course you can help. You see, your mother keeps sending me pornographic images. Can you please tell her to stop? She isn't listening to me.
SCAMMER: You said what?
ME: [a little louder] I said....you can definitely help. Tell your Mom that I will not engage in her sexual proposition with all those other guys. It's disgusting and I don't think women should be treated like that. She's not taking 'no' for an answer.
SCAMMER: Your wife did what? [Trying to be cute]
ME: I'm not married, sir. And I'm just asking you a simple request - after all, you called me. Tell your mother to leave me alone! The pictures are disgusting! Why would she let all those guys all do that to her at once?

Number traces back to Verizon in NY. Call the Verizon Unlawful Call Center at 1.800.257.2969, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. with your complaint number to open a case.

Said i was approve for a grant loan is this true if so how did u get my number
