I received a call from this number (have it on voice mail). He left a message stating he was Robert Matthews with the legal department of the US treasury. He stated that there was a warrant out for my arrest for back taxes. Part of his message stated: Let "Hurst" help you.

I called and I got voice mail.

I got the same call from the same number.  He told me they were coming to arrest me.  Then he wanted my address so he could come and arrest me.  I said, "you should have it on file, look it up and come and get me!'

just a message that im going to jail hahahah.

I received two messages today from 2132933920. The first message included the magistrate or grand jury threat with the addition of "we need you to cooperate with .... and let... help you. The second was the same message without the help part, but he did leave the name Steve Modern.... not even Martin.

Yup, same here, just got that call too, twice, but different numbers with the same voice, very heavy Indian accent. First number he left is 213-293-3920 and the second time he called the number was 213-401-2498. He left the exact same message.

I have received two messages today from this number (213-293-3920) and the exact same message a 3rd time, from a second number (323-686-3273).  The message is very aggressive and could easily worry or mislead an elderly person.  "Steve Martin" has a heavy Indian accent and is calling from the US Treasury about taxes, yaddah yaddah.  They need a better fact checker for their scriptwriter.

Received the same message as others on my answering machine.  The caller (middle eastern) said his name was Steve Mader (?) calling from the US treasury and this was their 2nd attempt to contact me.  I was instructed to call them back regarding a federal criminal offense I am involved in.  Of course I googled the phone number immediately suspecting this was a scam.

The recording said if I ignored the message it would be my second ofence and It would be a federal crime

Wow, unbelievable. I too got the same call and when I called back got a voicemail. This person is quite busy scamming away!

When he says "you are getting arrested okay?" reply "no, I think you are" -- they get off the phone real fast. : -)

Caller is still at it. Just received this same call with same message as previous posters wrote about it being a 2nd attempt and I have to go in front of a magistrate and yada yada yada. This was all left on a voice mail message. Must be pretty lucrative for him since he's still using the same line - why stop if its working?  I will call and report to IRS.

Have received several calls from this number, but since it was a number that I did not recognize, I didn't answer. Today, a delightful little Indian fellow opted to leave a threatening little message, purportedly from an agency with whom he clearly had no association. He made the same threats of being arrested by IRS Agents or Department of Treasury agents that others have referenced on this site. I know that it is redundant but I am on the DNC List, as well, and I am beginning to wonder if that is the connection, since everyone posting here seems to be on the lit too. Wouldn't that be ironic, or perhaps, moronic. But...I suppose that little whiz-bangers like this guy need some way of getting through the day, and maybe ripping off old retired folks requires less exertion than, maybe, a real job. It would be really great, for once, though, if one of these characters would show up with their phony rap at my front door, rather than on my telephone.

We received the same message the man said his name was Robert Smith with a heavy Indian accent. Come on now. I can pronounce Muhammad. This is a scam. Called back and the call did not connect. Beware of 213-293-3920.

Glad I googled this number as I got the exact call yesterday. I was going to be tried in front of a magistrate or the grand jury. Wow!  I must have done something really big!

Just received a voice message from the now "famous" Steve Modern. Left the same message about serious offence etc. He's clearly Indian or Pakistani and as such probably linked to terror groups. Initially it obviously got me worried but I quickly Googled the number as well as checked up the real IRS site about their procedures in the event of tax issues. What really makes me angry about this type of scam is that it is faceless and I am sure that some people may actually fall into the trap. I am almost certain that whatever money they can steal is used to fund Al Qaeda or ISIS or similar which would make this a national security concern. I intend to ask them if they ever call back and I urge everyone else to do the same. Once that is on tape it's they will probably soon relocate to Guantanamo Bay ! Wouldn't that be nice.

Received the same call twice today with a recording.   Couldn't tell if he said Steve Martin or Modern but strong Indian accent.   Same story, Dept of Treasury, serious matter, blah, blah blah.   The caller ID showed 215-734-0229 but the number they wanted us to call back was 213-293-3920.  

I also just received the same  threatening call, I had trouble understanding the message  because he spoke with a very strong middle eastern accent. I googled this number and of course did not call the number back. The call came in from an 215 area code but the call back number was 213, pretty scary stuff. I used to work for the IRS and I know this is not a normal procedure. My first instinct twas that  it may be from terrorists because of the accent.
