At least they're consistent.  Steve Martin called me.  I, too, am guilty of something, blah, blah, blah.  A serious enforcement action...  Same script as above.  Same number on called ID (the 215 number) with instructions to call the 213-293-number.  I'm running out of room in my call blocking from Century Link!

Same here. Just got a call at home in Ma. Im calling back over and over and they will not pick up. I really want to know how to trace those numbers and stop this crap. Im also on no solicitor - do not call list.

I received an automated message just now from a "Steve Martin" with an Indian accent, telling me the same thing and requesting that I call him at (213) 293-3920.  I called, but the "call could not be completed as dialed".  Had I been able to get through, I would have told the mf that I was so scared I was about to pee in my pants.  However, since I didn't want my pants wet, and since he brought on that condition, I would like to have him open his mouth, so I could drain my bladder.  MF go to hell.

Same here heavy Indian accent called twice this morning!

Got a voice mail message, "Not responding is an intentional second offense at avoiding an appearance in front of a Federal Magistrate for a Federal Criminal offense.".

Got the same call from Steve Modern.  My caller ID identified the caller as "Backbone Comm"
I took that to mean "Backbone Communications".
Looked up this company and I am not sure if it is related or not. One company is located in AZ and another in L.A. Calif.
My guess is the L.A. Calif company may be associated with this because of the 213 area code.

The DNC doesn't apply to debt collectors, they fall under the FDCPA laws.  Political and charity are also exempt. These calls are scam calls though, most coming from India.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

They are located in either India or Pakistan and are spoofing local numbers.  Ignore them.  Total scam.

I just received a call from 213-293-3920 on my voice mail. He said his name was Pete Motem (or something like  it). He had a heavy Indian accent and said basically the same thing he told the others on this site. He said this was my second  warning and if I failed to contact him I would be summoned to court and prosecuted.

I received this same call and it is highly disturbing that this can occur. The people that do this are disgusting for disturbing other peoples' lives. Please if there is a policeman or professional investigator who is reading this take care of this monster of an individual who intrudes on peoples' lives and gives them unnecessary stress about true nonsense.

No one can "take care of them" because they are located in India or Pakistan and outside the reach of US law.  Your best bet is a call blocker and do not pick up on calls you do not recognize.

got a call from a guy with Indian accent said he was with IRS and that a legal action is set against me and someone is going to arrest me if we don't pay. he did have our phone number and name adnd address. I told him this sounded fishy and asked his name and contact info, then he hung up.

i received two calls today from "steve martin", [***] says i will face a judge magistrate or possibly a grand jury trial for IRS matters. First of all the IRS doesn't conduct their business this way!!!!,  same f...ing  accent. These messages were left on my home landline but i also received 2 calls today on my cell from 732-579-6203 which i haven't checked, no message was left, then when i call the # back 3 times nobody answers and call is ended exactly 4 seconds later??   About 3 months ago i got call from IRS  (nice Australian lady) but at least she ended message with "have a nice day". I am really sick of this BS ....soon i will through all of my tech in the garbage and go back to a rotary telephone :)

same, say he is Steve Martin, and from US treasury -- did not mention my name, stated i must call back due to some impending action.  (I blocked my caller ID, and called this number back, it is a spoofed number as it is a disconnected number.)

Yesterday, I received the same message twice.    

I got a recorded call 3x yesterday Sunday and 2x today Labor day a holiday from a government agency they must be working on over time lol. When will these scammers realize Americans are smart? I put *67 on phone to call them back at 213-293-3920 but the line would not except blocked calls. I called the local police department to see if I could file a complaint but they said they did not know of any agencies that took this kind of complaint. They were happy to hear that I was not fooled by this insidious nonsense.

Scumbag thieves called me 3 times already on Labor Day morning (a national holiday ...I guess the India branch of the IRS doesn't recognize it....joke) . Have also been receiving a lot of spam emails with a similar message about owing money and going to court. The guy is Indian and claims his name is Steve Martin (?!?) , but he's not a wild and crazy guy, just a desperate douche trying to fleece people out of their hard earned cash.

3 calls from this foreign speaking "bafoon" from the us treasurey dept., I have impeding legal action against me. "Help me to help you", no kidding he said this!
If this guy wants to be a "good scammer" I would suggest he take some ESL classes before he makes any more phone calls,(English as a Second Language). He murders the english language, too funny.
