- How to File Complaints!!! replies to Leslie| 19 repliesLately, I've been bombarded with telemarketing calls from many different sources. So, I did some research on how to file complaints with the Do-Not-Call registry and the Federal Communications Commission. I found that it was easy to file a complaint on-line with each agency. Please file complaints using the following web links. I am going to start doing this for every unwanted telemarketing call I receive.

- Caller: Unknown
- Mary| 4 repliesYes, the calls are from Telefund, an organization that solicits for worthy causes, often progressive ones. Thank you to Elizabeth, who left a comment here in October, 2008 - if you call the Telefund number back, they give you the option of entering extension 304 to be listed on their "do not call" list. It is done in a very straightforward way and it works. While unsolicited calls are annoying, at least this outfit gives you the opportunity of going to the source and doing something about it without raising your blood pressure.

- Kim| 2 repliesWoman has called two days in a row (we are on do not call registry) and asks for my husband by his first name! When I tell her he is not home and I can help her - she hangs up! Good thing I am not jealous!!
- Man in the Middle| 1 replyPer Daily KOS, if you want to be on the Telefund "do not call" list, call 617-482-6882. Follow the instructions to leave the # you want taken off their list, and/or that of their client charities and politicians.

- Al Ojeda jr.| 3 repliesThis caller calls at least twice a night and never leaves a message. I would like this to stop immediatley!
- Caller: Telefund INC
- Cheryl replies to Al Ojeda jr.| 2 repliesTelefund is a service that many PROGRESSIVE non-profits, causes, and campaigns use to help raise money for important situations. These organizations hire Telefund to call their list of supporters.
It's more affordable for the organizations to use this service, since Telefund has dedicated stuff who can handle these call and the organizations can focus on what they do best:
~ saving grey wolves,
~ electing democratics or pro-choice politicians,
~ bringing back from extinction a kind of tortiouse that has been extincted since mid 1800's but that has similiarities to about 9 captive tortiouses,
~ helping public television,
~ saving lives in Dufar,
~ making emergency rescues at puppy mills or dog fights,
~ sustaining independent magazines like Mother Jones,
~ guarding our liberties,
~ etc.
THESE ARE CAUSES YOU CARE ABOUT or else your name would not be on the organizations' lists.
The people calling you are good people just like you, trying to earn a living and take care of their families by doing something they are passionate about. They are warned not to be rude, so if you pick up the phone and talk to them, you'll hear some info about the organization which is calling you, you'll be asked to contribute. It should be a pleasant conversation even if you cannot give any money.
If you got a call from this company, it is because you signup with or donated to a PROGRESSIVE cause in the past and that organization considers you a supporter and would like to update you on their work and collect any donations you would like to make.
Telefund charges a flatrate to the organization for the calling and does NOT keep any percentage of the donations. Callers do get credit for collecting funds and that's why they are happy to talk to you.
Callers are also told NOT to leave a voicemail. The Organization wants to talk to its supporters not to voicemails.
Because Telefund works for campaigns and non-profits they are EXEMPT from the DO-NOT-CALL Registery because what they are doing is not Telemarketing but fundraising for causes you previously showed interested in. They are not violating any laws by simply calling you.
If you do not want to receive calls, you can pick up the phone and asked to be removed from that list or ALL of Telefunds lists. The caller should be able to do that for you. The Telefund caller will NOT be able to remove you from EVERY list ever created and you may still get calls from other groups who do similar work. ESPECIALLY, if you keep signing up with or donating to PROGRESSIVE causes.
The only way they will have your number is if you gave it to one of the organizations on a sign up sheet, donation form, or other such information-gathering method.
THIS IS NOT A SCAM...they have no way of defrauding you.
You can contribute with a credit card over the phone or you can wait for an envelope to be mailed to you and you can send it back with a check. These organizations prefer credit card because it puts your donation to work right away and cuts down on administrative costs of processing checks and sending envelopes.

Youth Vote Coalition - Cheryl replies to CherylADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
If they get your voicemail or speak to someone who says call back, YOU WILL CONTINUE TO GET CALLS UNTIL you either say "DO NOT CALL" or "I CANNOT GIVE ANYTHING RIGHT NOW"
Campaigns usually last about 2 weeks of calling
THE QUICKEST AND EASIEST WAY TO STOP GETTING CALLS is to simply pick up the phone and talk to the person calling you.
They can "code" the information as either:
~ "no" (and you wont receive any more calls for that campaign) or
~ "remove from list" (and you will not receive calls from that non-profit organization) or
~"remove me from all your lists" (and you wont be called by Telefund again.
Or JUST DONATE and you wont be called again for that specific campaign.
It's really up to you. The worst thing to do is to keep letting it go to voicemail because the "codes" it as a call back and they will keep trying to reach you until they talk to you or until the campaign ends (in a few weeks). That's their job to call you and they have to make EVERY effort to get you on the phone. SO JUST PICK UP! - Cheryl replies to AmyTelefund callers are told NOT to leave voicemails. The organization that has asked them to call wants them to talk to the supporter (YOU) not a voicemail. So, pick up the phone and have a conversation with a nice person.

The organization or campaign that hired Telefund pays a flat rate and everything donated goes directly to the cause or candidate or campaign.
- Cheryl replies to KimYour husband is a member/supporter/previous donator to a PROGRESSIVE cause or organization. That organization has asked that girl to speak to your husband NOT to you or to leave a message. Pick which you prefer. - maxirritating phone calls telefund inc. harrassed me from a different number (area code 415) for weeks. I finally got through to them and got my name on do not call. now they're calling from area code 213. This has got to stop. over 60 calls in the past 3 months from these disgusting people.
- Ken replies to Carmen M.They send you to #304 for do not call. It is full, so go to #305 and leave a msg, I did.
- DaveI support many progressive causes, but abhor bad and intrusive and inconsiderate marketing such as this! Telefund, the company supposedly on the other end of this number (213-487-9500) has lost my support forever. They call multiple times per day, and there is never anyone on the other end of the phone on the rare occasion that I answer. but I called the number and was instructed to dial X304 to remove my name or file a complaint about a specific operator - I received a message indicating the mail box was full and was then disconnected.
I can't imagine any intelligent cause using such an incompetent and damaging company to represent them!- Caller: Telefund
