- EricThis number has called my work number multiple times and every time I answered it just kept giving me a beeping sound. Also when I used another phone to call the number it says "this number not allocated". I did a research and the phone number is under a company called XO communications. I contacted XO communications and I was transferred to their abuse hotline. I was told to write something a synopsis about the call and the investigator from XO communications gave me his name and email address:
XO Communications Investigator: Jim Tobias
EMAIL: investigations@xo.com
- Caller: 2143775991
- meAsked for one of my IT staff. He then asked to be put into the person's voicemail, and with the most bizarre, funny voice, almost like a tiny frog, said very slowly..."thank youuuuuuuu."
Ha! - Weary OperatorThirty pages devoted to this number? Incredible! Here's my story: "Maxwell Parker" (with an Indian accent yet) claimed to be from our auditors. He asked by name for one of our CRM managers "to set up a meeting." Since our auditors' HQ is right up the street from us, and we're on the East Coast, I knew this was a lot of bunk, so I put him on hold until he disappeared (took about a minute). This isn't the first time we've received calls from people alleging to be with that company, and we can tell it's not them by how unprofessional those individuals are.
- Caller: Not An Auditor
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Chelsea KearinI'm a receptionist and I get constant repeatitive calls from 214-377-5991. They are SO rude, calling me all sorts of digusting names. I need this number to stop calling.
- Caller: Vitelity
- john smith replies to MaryThey have dozens of numbers. If you block one they use another. It's so annoying.
- SharJust received a call from this number claiming to be ADP and asking to talk to a member of staff. When told that we don't deal with that company, person kept insisting they had to talk to the person named eventhough I specified that I was the office manager. Asked to be removed from their list and was told "it was not possible". Dialed the number back and the recording (not official recording) said that the number "had not been allocated". Sounds like a huge scam to me.
- Caller: supposedly ADP
- Weary Operator"Michael" (with an accent, natch) claimed to be calling from a B2B company regarding software but denied selling anything (don't they all?). Having received nearly a dozen calls from another scammer (208-295-7263), starting at 8:15 a.m., I had no patience for this guy and sent him straight to Purchasing. As for the other idiots, when their number appeared on Caller ID, I just picked up the receiver, then dropped it loudly, and they finally stopped. Maybe I'll use that tactic on this bunch.
- Caller: B2B company
- Call type: Telemarketer
- ConcernedinHtownReceived a call from this number at my employer's office. Asked for me by name, the receptionest tried to field the call because she felt it was a scam. I was interested in seeing what they had to say since they are calling from "Citibank". I don't owe anything to Citibank and I know this. As soon as I picked up the phone and identified myself by my first name, a man with an indian accent asked ">First name, last name?<". I said, yes.... and he hung up. A little concerned about this now.
- The Answer214-377-5991 is a number for a VOIP to Teleco gateway for VOIP.ms' dallas servers. IT IS NOT ONE PERSON. VOIP.ms is a VOIP provider and it could be anyone of their THOUSANDS of customers. When the customer uses dallas.voip.ms as their SIP server AND they don't properly (read: DON'T BOTHER TO) set their CallerID properly, this is the number that shows up.
It's not voip.ms that is calling you, it's someone using their VOIP termination services. Unfortunately, scammers (especially from foreign countries) use VOIP (and VOIP.ms) all the time so, don't bother answering it.- Caller: Various
