- Bobby replies to M J Monday| 3 repliesThanks for having this post I googled the vin number and this post came up . I guess if it sounds too good then it cant be. This guy is using the name Sgt. Allan Porter on Craigslist selling a 2003 FatBoy. Here is a copy of his email to me (On top of trying to scam people is it legal to impersonate a us air force seargent???? what a sc*mbag)
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in my bike.This is a 2003 Harley-Davidson Softail FatBoy Custom,clean title,only 7,425 miles on it,VIN# : 1HD1BMY123Y050969.
Here you can find more pictures of the bike: http://s539.photobucket.com/albums/ff357/03FatBoyCustom/
(if the above link does not work copy and paste it into a new web browser window)
The bike has been well taken care of, always kept in the garage.Flawless exterior condition,no scratches and no dents. It has never been involved in an accident. The engine starts and drives like new and the paint looks great. It comes with US clear title which will be signed and notorized in the buyer's name.Have original manuals and all keys.
I'm an US Air Force Sgt. currently stationed in United Kingdom. The bike is here with me. It was bought in the US and shipped to Europe, but it was never permanently registered here, the bike is still registered in the US.The bike is for sale locally as well, but there are slim chances of this to happen. In order to be able to register this bike here in UK the buyer would have to pay very high import/custom taxes that will double the price. So I decided to sell the bike back in the US.
The final price is $4,800.00 including shipping from UK to the US and delivery to your home address.
So if you decide to buy this bike or need further information please get back to me as soon as possible.
Thank you and have a great day

- JKing replies to M J MondayThis guy is still at it. Same thing still using Sgt. Allen Porter selling 2003 Harley Fat Boy for $4800. Here's a copy of his letters:
Hello,
I will have the bike shipped from UK by an US Air Force cargo plane so there won't be any additional shipping costs. The shipping will take 6-8 days, depending on your location.Shipping will be door to door,to your home address, somebody must be home when the bike arrives to sign for the reception. The bike will arrive with all the papers and documents required for registration and the keys. The clear title and the bill of sale will be already signed by me.
The payment will be done through eBay.You will send the money to eBay and as soon as the payment is confirmed they will notify me to proceed with the shipping. I will ship the bike you will receive it and you will have 5 days for inspection, both the bike and the paperwork and the option to accept or reject the bike. The inspection time period will begin as soon as you sign for receiving the bike at your requested address.During all this time eBay will hold the money into a trust account. So, this is not a blind transaction, you can see the bike before decided to buy it.If you are satisfied with the bike and decide to keep it you inform eBay about this and they will release the money to me. If the bike is not as advertised and decide not to keep it eBay will refund you the money, no questions asked, and shipping back the bike will be my concern. I think this is more than fair for the both of us.Please take in to consideration that I will get paid only after you receive the bike and make sure everything is as agreed.
If you agree with these terms and you have the money, send me your full name and the address where you want the bike to be delivered to and I will initiate the transaction with eBay. You will receive all the transaction details from them.
I will appreciate an answer as soon as possible.
Thank you!
Sgt.Allan Porter
---It's so easy to get conned, but if you think about it the price is what tips you off. Why would anyone sell a motorcycle for $4800 that retails for over 10K. It's sad that he uses a military title to try to fool you into believing he's a good guy. He also sent me the eBay invoice and tried to get me to wire money - I checked eBay's safe transactions guide and it said that the only recommend using pay pal. Another give away is that right after I responded to his Craig's list posting the post disappeared. - MATT FROM CT replies to M J MondayAlmost fell for it too. He tried to sell me a 2003 Fat Boy for $4800. He said he was Sgt. Allen Porter, a US Air Force Sgt. stationed in the UK. He said he would ship the bike to me free of cost and have it to me in 5 days. All I had to do is send the money to an eBay trust fund. Then I googled the VIN number "1HD1BMY123Y050969" and this page came up so watch out for Sgt. Allen Porter, US Air Force in the UK

- John replies to Alan| 30 repliesRight...through Craigslist I saw and was offered a 2006 Range Rover for 15K. Seemed truly odd so I pretended to go with it, contacted her, and sure enough, I got the whole fake Ebay info...asking me to wire to Bank of America in Vegas.
If you check the grammar in some of these, you will note some serious syntax issues...terrible, since it is allegedly coming from Ebay.
Be careful out there! - Scott| 1 replyWhy cant ebay catch this Allan Porter dude. How many times can this ass list items on line and get away with it.
- Dude, almost scammedI cannot believe these people can get away with it. The man is still using sgtallanporter@gmail.com. So people, please don't fall for it. One tip: seller is probably a scam if he/she avoid fysical meetings. I hope they get a*hhole one day.

Angela,
i would like to buy the car, however, feeling uneasy about the process.
Why is the car also listed at Champion auto for $33,000.
Why was it listed in Las Vegas on Craigslist if it is in Florida.
Sorry for the questions, I just need to be more comfortable.
Last time I bought a car on ebay, I eventually had to meet the person and fly to Arizona to pick it up.
I guess I could have had it shipped

Sgt.Allan Porter - Dawave| 1 replyThe guy used the same Sgt stuff for replying my msg for the Haely bike. But I thought the money would be secure or I can file a claim if I pay via Ebay? Is that true?
And why would ebay keep on letting scum like this have an ID with them? Man, I think Ebay is kinda shady for letting him get away like this.
I guess cash/car hand to hand would probably be the best idea. Just ask the guy to do cash transactions and if he is not willing (afterall, he listed the car of being at LA in the first place), then I guess there is something fishy going on.
Good Luck, people.
