Thanks for having this post I googled the vin number and this post came up . I guess if it sounds too good then it cant be. This guy is using the name Sgt. ---It's so easy to get conned, but if you think about it the price is what tips you off.  Why would anyone sell a motorcycle for $4800 that retails for over 10K.  It's sad that he uses a military title to try to fool you into believing he's a good guy.  He also sent me the eBay invoice and tried to get me to wire money - I checked eBay's safe transactions guide and it said that the only recommend using pay pal.  Another give away is that right after I responded to his Craig's list posting the post disappeared.

Almost fell for it too. He tried to sell me a 2003 Fat Boy for $4800. He said he was Sgt. Allen Porter, a US Air Force Sgt. stationed in the UK. He said he would ship the bike to me free of cost and have it to me in 5 days. All I had to do is send the money to an eBay trust fund. I replied to the same scam. 2006 Porsche Cayenne Turbo for $14,800. Car is at a shipping yard in Miami, scammer claimed to be a divorced single mom. Used the name Dina Marchuk and email address was dina55marchukk@msn.com  Below is a copy of the email I received to wire the funds. It is to a BofA branch in Nevada.

Right...through Craigslist I saw and was offered a 2006 Range Rover for 15K. Seemed truly odd so I pretended to go with it, contacted her, and sure enough, I got the whole fake Ebay info...asking me to wire to Bank of America in Vegas.

If you check the grammar in some of these, you will note some serious syntax issues...terrible, since it is allegedly coming from Ebay.

I just responded to a craigslist harley ad. Too good to be true and he says he's in the UK and will ship it. Wish they could catch this guy. I went thru the Feds reporting fraud site.

The guy used the same Sgt stuff for replying my msg for the Haely bike. But I thought the money would be secure or I can file a claim if I pay via Ebay? Is that true?

And why would ebay keep on letting scum like this have an ID with them? Man, I think Ebay is kinda shady for letting him get away like this.

I guess cash/car hand to hand would probably be the best idea. Just ask the guy to do cash transactions and if he is not willing (afterall, he listed the car of being at LA in the first place), then I guess there is something fishy going on.
