The telemarketer gets 80% of contributions; charity gets 20%.
Not a typo. Did not get it backwards.

- ChristineI'm so tired of this crap. We are on a Do Not Call List but it does not good. And my mother is elderly, crippled up and hearing impaired. She won't even answer the phone anymore. She tells me to answer it and if its not a relative or friend she is not interested. So this lady calls and wants to talk to her and I said she was here but I would like to know what I could do for her...she says there is no message...so I say then take us off your list and she says BYE BYE and hang up on me. Snotty Beach. I tried to call the number back to find out who is was and of course their mail box is full...no doubt...with complaints most likely...or they keep it full so people can't reach them. And what can we do about it? There is not a hospital in the United States that doesn't have some sort of charitable support group for cancer patients or sick children...go donate to a local group. These groups like this one are scammers spending most of the money they make on their operating costs (lining their own pockets). Better yet, go read to a sick child or play a game with them so their parents can have a break or a nap! I sure would like to be able to give them a piece of my mind.

- DJIf this organization is legit and based out of the State of Pennsylvania, then why are they calling from a central Illinois phone number? My prior experience tells me that these fund raising firms use ex-cons to staff these boiler rooms and giving ANY personal information let alone credit card numbers is assuring that you will be victimized by a criminal entity. I don't answer the phone anymore, unless I know who is calling. Keep calling, doesn't bother me in least. You will NEVER hear me say "Hello?". To all the d-bags who call, "BITE ME".

- sadcancermomI get called from this organization all of the time and it breaks my heart that these rude people are representing childhood cancer. My son is 17 months old and has been battling cancer since the day he was born. We now have a lot of friends who are battling this terrible monster. DO NOT give to this organization. If you would like to help kids with cancer, please give to a legitimate organization like NCCS, make a wish, bear necessities, cure search, st. Baldricks, or directly to the children's hospital.

- DonIt's just another scam. "Children's Cancer Fund" trying to tug on your heart strings. Don't give them a cent!
- Brenda SI received a call from this number today! I told the woman we would review all this by mail and make a decision on "how much" to give. She promptly informed me $40.00 would be a "nice" amount, when I said No, I really want to review and discuss before "promising an amount", she then told me that 20-25 was the "lowest" acceptable donation and that I should just "see the shape these kids were in". Red flags went off so I told her once again....NO, send me something via mail and we would make a decision then. She promptly screeched in my ear....HAVE A NICE DAYYY and abruptly hung up. I then called the BBB, filed a complaint by using the above phone number. I also tried calling that phone number back myself but are always just prompted to "leave a message". This foundation is a disgrace!!

- Rocket replies to tbonedSomehow saying that it is a well respected charity by the State of Illinois doesn't give me warm fuzzies.
- not an airhead replies to tbonedT-Bone, perhaps you should do better research, and if you have to wait for them to call you back to give, you are an IDIOT, give your money to a worthy charity or me, also a full mailbox is another clue, they don't accept calls?
- Norwood ParkThese clowns called me about a half an hour ago; did not answer; no message left on voicemail.

- Stop! replies to redhatladyDo not send these crooks any money! If the envelope is already stamped, then follow the advice above. Otherwise, next time they call, tell them you cannot give them anything and to please stop calling. Document the day/time of this request.
WHEN they call back, stop their sales script immediately and tell them that you are now reporting them to www.donotcall.gov since they have violated your do not call request. Again, document this request.
WHEN they call back after this, tell them that they will now be reported to your state's Attorney General. Again, document this request to stop calling.
IF they call back after that, report them to your phone company. IF they call back again, report them to the police! - Why? replies to DBecause they're crooks who take more than 80 percent of whatever money you donate. How many children with cancer will be helped by these low-lifes?
- Maxine replies to tbonedBS How are things at the boiler room today?
- Norwood ParkCame up at CHILDRENS CANCER. No message and now teleblocked on my Digitone box.
- KittyReceived a call from the Children's Cancer Recover Foundation.
To the above comment that says it is reputable, READ ON.
First you say they are good because they buy GAMES for kids with cancer!!! What help is that? When most people give to a charity, they assume it goes for research or to help a family with medical bills.
Before giving to any charity, check them out. Here is what Charity Navigator says about this "charity."
http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=6911
And CNN recently did an extended report on the 50 worst charities. This "charity" ranks #11. They raise $37.5 million, they pay the solicitors $29.2 million and a grand total of
.6% goes for aid!!!!
Being registered in any state means nothing. States rarely investigate charities because of a shortage of manpower.- Caller: Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation

- Confused| 1 replyThis number previously had called here and left no voicemail (SHOCKER!). They called me Wednesday during dinner and the man on the other line (very thick accent) went on his spiel. I very politely told him I was not interested at the time being (even said "Thank you for contacting me"!) and the man replied with "Well, ma'am, the reason for my call, God d*mn it.. nevermind.", then promptly hung up. I left a voicemail on their machine (very surprised that they had reps to solicit phone calls, but none to take calls from others) to tell what happened. Heard back within an hour while still eating and was accused of leaving a nasty message! There is absolutely no way to win with these people! Told them to remove me from calling list or be reported to BBB. Was hung up on after the last 'B' came out of my mouth. Do NOT donate to these crooks! Money is wasted.

- TheToxicAvenger replies to ConfusedConfused, this is an invaluable post - thank you for sharing it!
Last week (before I had my first cup of coffee,) the phone rang and and a female asked for me by name (disturbing that this scum has my personal information.) While she neither clearly identified herself nor the organization she was representing, she launched into her spiel: a spiel that sounded oddly familiar! When asked if she could, "send me an envelope for a small donation," I responded, "sounds good" (by the way, NEVER say, "OK" or "Yes" when speaking to these rodents.) She then continued on, with the excuse, "they make me ask this" and tried to elicit from me how large a donation I would be making, concluding with the comment, "the usual donation is 75 to 100 dollars." At that point, I said "Bye Bye."
After hanging up, I reviewed my records and discovered that a female had used this same spiel twice in the past two months: first incident representing "Breast Cancer" and the second incident representing "Leukemia."
OK, gang, time to go to work! Let's put these rodents in a cage where they belong.
